Beach Party!?

Who: Anyone who wants to come!
What: BEACH PARTY! (For Katara or something)
When: In the evening, about 7PM
Where: On the beach! Somewhere!
Summary: It's Katara's 17th and while all friends of Team Avatar are invited, anyone else can gatecrash too.
Rating: E for everyone (for God's sake there's going to be seven year olds!)

[A few days before the birthday, Katara's housemates began birthday preparations. Not quite entirely secret, but they made invitations, told friends, spread the word, and so on. Birthday on the beach. Be there or be a loser McButtface without friends.

And so there's a party! With tables! And chairs! And umbrellas! And the sun is setting, but the Malnosso had no taste and put the ocean on the east side of Luceti, so it's a sunset over the mountains which isn't as cool as an ocean sunset. But anyway. There's a volleyball net and, you know, an ocean to swim in. Also Sokka ordered a generator with his mission points and abducted the karaoke machine. It was mostly to provide some music, but people can get up and sing with it too.

As for the food? There's a table for that. It's a bring your own dish affair, since Katara is kind of their team cook and they can't exactly make her own birthday meal, right? So anyone coming can bring whatever they like and set it out. The gang brought some meals of their own, so there's bound to be some cool dishes from the air nomads, water tribe, and fire nation. And cake. A big chocolate cake. Someone made it! We don't know who. (Feel free to dibs being the baker or something if you want.)

And a table! A table for presents! Bring a present, set it there. It's very organized.]

((ooc: It's out on the beach and just a general sort of party affair, so feel free to have characters show up even if they're not friends with the birthday girl. It's a free for all. SO YOU BETTER MINGLE OR THERE'S GONNA BE WORDS.

[Appearance: Masaomi Kida is dressed... mostly like this. But with some notable changes: sandals, not weird stripper boots for one. But he's also gained significant muscle definition in Luceti in all parts of his body, so he no longer looks quite like the girly stick he looks in that image. He also is wearing Katara's bracelet on his right wrist. That and his earrings (just some clips, nothing special) is the sum total of the jewelry has has on today. His left arm is still in a cast. He's able to move it much more effectively now (in fact, it should be off very soon) but there's that and that is why he has on hideous short shorts instead of actual swim trunks. But the trump of everything is Masaomi has facial hair. Something like this, now that he's cleaned up the rest of his patchy facial hair he's just let grow all month. You decide if it looks good on him or not, jury's out. He thinks it is. He is accompanied to this shindig by Linda the Pikachu, racing about his heels and wearing a white scarf with yellow cross-stitching which isn't pictured.

WHEW. You made it through that, right? Anyway. He'll be enjoying the land things. Vollyball (for which he takes off his jacket, publicly revealing his florescent pink (as in seems to shine in the light) wings), karaoke stuff (he's not terrible), eating stuff, charming the guests, all that snazz.

[Aang, who has a scar on his back, is taking another walk across the beach when he thinks he sees someone familiar over by the karaoke machine. The yellow creature is definitely a dead giveaway. He makes his way over and prepares a friendly wave.]

[Masaomi is actually flipping through here for a song, the jacket part of it still on. He's smiling to himself, but doesn't wave back, just sort of nods at Aang as he gets over given his one good arm situation]

[He gets close enough to conclusively see Masaomi. He also spares Linda a smile.]

Hey, Masaomi. Hey, Linda. How's it going?

[Still flipping through the tracks with the hand wearing that bracelet. Glorious mustache and all that good stuff. Linda waves though]

Eeeeh, I'm glad to be in "dawn" at this party.

[He rests in a nearby beach chair.]

I don't really get it. [But, getting a closer look at Masaomi and his Pittstache...] Wow Masaomi, that's a really neat mustache!

[She doesn't notice the facial hair or the short shorts, but she does know Masaomi when she "sees" him. He's got that weird lightning mouse with him too, but it's...bigger now? Huh.]

Well, I'm not surprised you're here. Have you asked Katara to marry you yet?

[He's a loss. He shouldn't be at a loss. This pause is too long, too dangerous to bring up with Toph. Plus if he gets any more tense Linda will react, though she's not doing it just yet, thank everything]

[with a sleazy grin. And he waves his good arm. Dismissing it. But really, that just made him tense up.]

[At his pause, her stomach sinks, and she can feel him tense up, even through the sand. She's struck a nerve, and for that moment, she wishes she hadn't said it.

Does that mean he knows? Had Ikki gotten to him already and spilled the beans?

She frowns, nearly ignoring his comment.]

Uh...have you met Ikki yet? Hyperactive airbender girl? Likes to talk?

[He remains tense. His stance is still very solid, despite the sand. But what he does next would usually remove suspicion from seeing people in that he relaxes his shoulders into a slouch and plasters a smile on his face]

Aunt Toph, was it?

[He laughs here. It's forced, but he's so good at forcing it probably wouldn't sound it] This very morning, actually- Shikamaru told me about her a day or two ago though.

[metalbends]

[...Aha. She'd heard about the pictures. And Masaomi must have seen them, too.

Well, the cat's definitely out of the bag, then. She's suddenly making a concerted effort not to feel sorry for him.]

It's just a nickname. I'm not actually related to her. [Like Aang and Katara are.] She kinda...blabbed. About everything.

[She's gonna talk about this with him, of all people? Apparently so.]

[So with this going on, rather than joining in with the spectators, Shikamaru hums to himself and goes off to find Masaomi before he can catch onto it as well. He picks something up from the food table.]

Hey. Eat this.

[Said food item looks like one of those lemon cookies, which he is now holding out to his good, good friend.]

Why? [He said as he took it and put it right in his mouth.

...And then keeled over coughing]

[Oh, he ate the whole thing. That worked out perfectly. Shikamaru crouches down to pat him on the back.]

Experiment. Every time I've taken one of those cookies, I get a pepper one! I was wondering if it'd turn out to be the fabled lemon if I gave it to you instead, but it seems I'm cursed.

[Wow some best friend you are!! Cough, cough.] Holy shit this's - ugh, awful.

[ Ikki will find him as per their journal conversation, proooobably shortly after the volleyball game, because she's drawn to those wings like a moth to a flame. They're. Just so pretty. And shiny. And pink.

Plus, she saw the little animal playing around him, and recognized the face from the short clips she'd seen in her journal.

...Of course, the recognization only came after she came closer to stare at the wings, but at least she remembered. Either way, she runs up to him after the game. ] Masaomi! Masaomi, your wings are super pretty.

[ She wishes hers were that colour, actually, even if she likes her wings in general. ]

[Wow man he hates these things. Not the pink so much as the fact they are bright and shiny and gaudy and nothing matches with them as a result. He's sighing to himself as he turns his head to grin at her]

Hoooh, that's nice of you, Ikki-chan.

[Linda, at his heels, perks up at her too. Who's this one?]

[breezing]

It's true, though! [ Take the word of a seven-year-old girl, Masaomi. Bright, shiny, gaudy pink wings are in. ] Your life is really, really pink, huh?

[ Ikki crouches down to get on a level with Linda, which...isn't hard, considering her size. ] Hiya! You're Linda, right? I'm Ikki!

Not quite pink, I'd say more "rose colored!"

[But at his correction, he smiles down. Linda races over though, to hold up a hand for Ikki. It's a small human, which is sort of weird even if she's seen a few before, but hey, she's Linda]
