DRAFT - The Battle of Vaskoth

On the 25th, Lucetians are ushered in to join an already growing army to repel the Cultists.

On the 26th, strange symptoms are reported. The first Runners appear and by nightfall, the hospital is lost.

On the 27th, the cultist horde is completely lost to the virus. They send no more reinforcements.

On the 28th, the situation is grim and an evacuation is called. But the battle is not over.

Notes: There will be two NPC threads. One for Specialist Davis and another for Carol.

[Silver spends the entire draft within a close proximity to Ingo. They aren't always right next to each other, but as the draft continues, they stick more and more together.

On the 25th, it's standard draft conduct for Silver. Or, well, newly "standard". The game isn't knocking them out. It's incapacitating them, or if not, killing them. While he doesn't look like he likes it, he doesn't hesitate on the matter. It's war. He's been taught better.

Sneasel uses his claws, Feraligatr uses his jaws and tail, and Murkrow... uses his face and wings, occasionally perching on Silver's shoulder for breaks... Which heal himself. Pokémon, man. They cover a variety of moves and fairly frequently get switched out to rest- there are usually only two of them out at a time.

On the 26th, once Silver catches wind of the infection that's spreading, his strategy changes entirely. Murkrow is no longer allowed out as Silver grows increasingly cautious and worked up over the potential of one of his Pokémon getting infected by whatever's going around. Both Feraligatr and Sneasel rely on long distance moves and only one of them are out at a time. By that night, Silver deems Feraligatr too large and not fast enough to be allowed out for more than short bursts when absolutely needed.

As the day continues on the 27th, he's become unconcerned about anything outside of protecting Ingo and anyone in his immediate area. Survival has kicked in. He's grateful for his ability to stay calm and collected in high tension situations. He moves quickly and quietly, rummaging for supplies, with Sneasel on his shoulder and back, seldom touching the ground. After some unfortunate events with Moro in the evening, Sneasel is thoroughly exhausted and recalled- Ingo then trades Silver his Chandelure so he's not completely defenseless.

The evacuation in the middle of the day on the 28th is a godsend, as far as Silver's concerned. He and Ingo as hastily as possible make their way to the teleporters. Some Events on the way take place, but ultimately they are done and out and gone on the 28th and immensely thankful that none of their Pokémon are infected.

25th

[Silver has seen Moro stalk, chase down, and kill. It takes mere seconds for her to chase, leap, and pounce a deer.

What he has likely never seen? Moro on the battlefield. Even from a distance, she never stills, tearing through her opponents and throwing them aside as she charged through their ranks. Most blows never land on her. Other weapons leave some wounds, but they are minor and barely pierce her hide. Some arrows and spears stick out of her skin, not even irritating her or slowing her down. Not even exhaustion seems to strike her, and it's obvious her body does not bleed out enough from these mere scratches of wounds to stop her. She does not stand tall and proud, as most legendary Pokémon would. Instead, she is swift, low, and for as big as she is, quite surprising and stealthy. If only because she moved so swiftly and kept herself low that troops did not see her until she was well on top of them.

This posed quite true for allies, as well. From right behind Silver, an enormous rush of air and brush of fur speeds by, accompanied only by the screaming of the enemy troops as they're trampled under her paws or crushed in her bite. She pauses, for once, to see what state Silver was in.]

25th

[Silver's completely engrossed in what he's doing. He's silently grateful for Moro's assistance from behind, because it allows him to focus on something with the three of his Pokémon.

Feraligatr is the first of this three part combo; he sends out a giant wave of water from in front of him in the form of Surf. Then comes Sneasel, who freezes the entire wave of water over, trapping a considerable amount of washed out enemies in ice.

Then comes Murkrow with Steel Wing, who cleaves through the lot of them like a hot knife through butter. If only he knew that the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

He's doing just fine. He's not particularly pleased with the damage he's doing to these soldiers, but it doesn't stop him from enjoying the action, the adrenaline rush, the fighting.]

[Impressive! The ruthlessness appeals greatly to Moro. Still, she could stand to have some of these weapons pulled out of her flesh... she takes a moment of pause, briefly.]

Climb on.

25th

[While Silver may have been on drafts before, this is Lance's first. His world is a rather peaceful one, and he is not accustomed to fighting like this. However, his Pokemon are doing rather well. He joined up with Asch's group and commands his Pokemon from as far back as he can while the dragons blast the enemies with their various attacks.

However, there is the fact that Lance is rather focused on commanding his Pokemon and isn't paying as much attention to the area around himself. Essentially leaving the dragon master wide open for attack should anyone break through and come at him.]

25th

[...Of course. Even Lance is like that.

He sees a couple of cultists coming in from his blind spot and acts without hesitation. He holds onto Murkrow as the bird launches itself straight down for a Brave Bird. It's the sparties that are crushed upon impact, not Murkrow's head.]

You're not used to this kinda fighting, are you? [He doesn't bother to turn around too look at him. He's too busy scanning the area.

No one messes with Lance- even if this Lance isn't his by a long shot, the logic still applies.]

25th

[Lance only manages to catch the movement out of the corner of his eye just as Murkrow makes it's attack. Had it not been for that Pokemon, it would have been too late for Lance to react. He stares for a moment then catches sight of Silver, the other Silver.

The man then returns his attentions back to his Pokemon just before the question is asked.]

I guess it is pretty obvious, isn't it? ... Aerodactyl, Rock Slide!

[Somewhere ahead of Lance several cultists receive an onslaught of boulders on their heads.]

Sorry, I'll try to catch up.

[That training school looks more and more like a good idea the longer he's out here.]

28th

[An-- evacuation?


THANK POKEJESUS. That's the best thing he's heard in days, besides the occasional reassuring "I'm fine" from Silver. Assuming he isn't harboring the virus... they'll be out of here eventually.

Does he even have to communicate anything, beyond simply looking at Silver? Let's get the hell out of here.]

28th

[He's not harboring the virus. Does he look sick to you? He feels fine. A little tired, a little hungry, but completely a thousand percent fine.

...He's also a thousand percent done. Were it just him, that would be fine. But not with his Pokémon vulnerable like this. Not with Ingo vulnerable like this. No. It's not happening. They're heading home. They can't do much more to help anyway. Being a hero can be saved for another day.

So he starts heading to the evacuation site. Come on, Ingo. ...It's actually a bit of a distance away, but hey. They'll get there. It's not too far. They'll get there and get out before the day is done.]

[Yeah, heroics can be shelved for the time being, thank you.

Surely they can muster up the energy to plod over there-- it may be far, but it's definitely worth it. They just have to survive the trek. They just have to keep their guard up. They're on their way. Nothing will happen. ]

27th

[Mithos had been picking over the fringes of the farmlands when a small band of the infected had closed in on him, and he had no choice but to fight with everything he has. There is no time for casting spells. He slices and jukes and blocks and slashes, wary of the flow of blood. Since learning of the virus's nature, he has taken extra precaution with treating and wrapping his wounds.

If these monsters would just die...

The odds are stacked against him. He may have greater skill, but they have greater stamina. He tries not to think about how last time he'd been drafted, Kaori had fought be his side. He can't afford to get distracted by thoughts like that.]

27th

[The name of the game is ice.

In this case, Sneasel's quickly fashioned Silver a staff made out of the stuff- He and Sneasel then get to work. Sneasel uses Ice Beam from a distance to freeze them from their feet up; Silver can only manage to keep one at a stand still, but it's enough with Sneasel covering.

The intent isn't for them to win in the first place. It's for them to stop these stupid things long enough for Mithos to get out of this nasty situation. It's too dangerous for him to use lethal force and risk getting that infection everywhere.

Your move, Mithos. But before you choose-] Move! [Silver wants to throw out his two cents on what that choice should be.]

[He's bewildered for a second, and his instinct for distrust screams questions, but his baser instincts know there's no time. He listens, quickly falling back.]

26th

[LET'S START THIS WITH A BANG.

Or rather some discs he's rigged to explode, when thrown to swivel around the backs of Runner A and Runner B there.]

[-Explosions? Great, now he has to look out for the zombies and-

...Wait a minute. He's seen those kinds of explosions before. It makes both him and Sneasel scan around the area. Is that...?]

[Shikamaru jumps down from a tree/building/spacecraft/take your pick and salutes smartly. 'Sup guys.]

Oi, come on-! Come on, why do you gotta keep this uuup! [Rin is using a borrowed sword (not his usual Kurikara) and is currently closer to one of the supply depots. But more importantly, he's near to the (Vaskoth) towsfolk running it. He had a MSF officer with him and a few Excenn fighters too, but the officer seems to have gone down and two of the Excenn guys are injured and behind him. With only his sword and flames he's trying to keep up with three cultists, but he's clearly somewhat outmatched. He's surprisingly not a very good swordsman to be in a sword duel.]

[In a second, a large stream of water knocks back one of the cultists. It's followed closely by a second beam, this time an Ice Beam, which serves to completely freeze the cultist over.

The number of sparties Rin has to deal with has been reduced to two, and Silver, Feraligatr, and Sneasel make their way over to give more cover fire. What's up, Rin.]

Silver?! [He's surprised. Just a little. But okay, that totally helped. He's still caught up in a swordfight with a woman who is totally a better swordsman than him, but at least he's not. Watching this flank constantly]

[It's already been a hard two days. Everyone is tired, on edge...and facing a new and unencountered-before threat. Mia is doubly vigilant now, not wanting anyone she cares about to get hurt or sick.

When she comes upon Silver, and Sneasel, at first she's relieved to see them together and looking whole. They seem busy, fighting, so she doesn't call out for fear of distracting them. It's better to keep herself hidden, unless they need help.]

26th

[It's a smart option, in all honesty. Silver and Sneasel are set on completely freezing anything that comes near them. It's an effective way to incapacitate them without getting anywhere near them.

These ones seem more "normal", so Sneasel fires sharp chunks of ice at them in the form of Ice Shard- but regardless of what he does, he and Silver make sure to never touch them. To never touch anyone.

Of course, they're so preoccupied in what's immediately going on around them that they don't notice a runner starting to dash in their direction...]

26th

[He's coming from the other side of the area - he doesn't see Mia, but he's too far away for her to really affect with Psynergy.

So she runs forward, too. Because it isn't Silver he's aiming for. She doesn't know how she knows that, but isn't one to doubt it either. Especially when he gets closer, and raises a bloody weapon.

That's how she ends up unleashing Serac, to drive a spire of ice upward in an attempt to dispatch the Runner; that's why she lunges forward, intent on protecting Sneasel that way in case it doesn't work.]

26th

[Silver and his team may be forced to deal blows from a distance, but Ven's not in the mood to stay outta the fray. When he spots Silver and his Pokémon in the midst of a fight, he leaps down from his Glider, letting it transform back into Keyblade form, and proceeds to perform a spinning strike against an enemy on the way down.

His armor conceals his expression, but he takes a short glance at Silver.]

Hope you guys don't mind an extra hand!

[Huh- oh. Thanks, Ven. There's no way he's objecting to more manpower, especially not if it's in the form of close combat.

He'll have to accommodate for another person around, but-]

You won't hear us complaining. [Can't let Feraligatr use Surf of Earthquake. Okay. He can do this.]

Great! Then you guys hang tight, and I'll see what I can do.

[Starting by... rushing straight at two more cultists and slamming his Keyblade right into them. What is danger?]
