Halloween is once again descending on Luceti! There's a maze and some mists and some ghoulish visitors and all kinds of pranks. Oh, and the parties. Don't forget the parties. Or the candy. Man, those kids on the draft don't know what they're missing.

As a reminder:

Starting on the 28th (yesterday) and going until the 31st, strange thngs are happening in Luceti. This is for those who have stayed behind from the draft OR for those who have been safely evacuated from the draft after their requisite quarantine time.

Get lost in the maze! Get rid of the spiders and rats and bats! Eat candy! Try on costumes! Do stuff unrelated to these weird happenings!

Be pranked! Do pranks of your own (if you wanna take advantage of the great scapeghosts)! Go to their harvest festival party!

Most of all? Have a spooktacularly fun time.

[Pilouette hates ghosts. She hates ghosts so much, this is the worst thing, what is happening. And as she has loudly and repeatedly expressed her dislike of them, that evening, the ghosts have decided to pull a little...prank. Thankfully, she can still breathe through that thing, but as for seeing? Not so much.

The ghosts have also dumped her in the corn maze in the hopes of giving anyone else a fun little scare. She'll be wandering around the maze, walking slower than usual with her arms outstretched trying not to run into things or people. Also, her voice is a little muffled and may sound kinda spooky. After all, "Help me...!" sounds a little strange when it's coming from inside a pumpkin.

Later on, if/when the pumpkin finally gets removed, she'll be wandering around the maze trying to find her way out.]

31st

[Now rid of her ghost-provided pumpkin helmet and in a state of "not lost", Pils will spend the evening celebrating with every one else. She almost didn't wear a costume (after all, only kids dress up for Halloween, right?), but...well, she figures that since everyone else is, maybe it's okay. So, she's thrown on a Red Riding hood cloak over her old New Feather dress and a sweater. That counts as a costume, right? She's also carrying Red Riding Hood's signature picnic basket, filled with pumpkin-shaped (well, vaguely pumpkin-shaped) cookies. After all, Halloween is about them sweets, right?]

[Well, well. She had to admit that seeing someone with a pumpkin for a head wasn't something she saw every day. Unfortunately, she wasn't particularly scared either. The whole Halloween thing was still too much of a novelty to her and to be frank, she had seen much scarier things.

That was why she approached from behind and knocked on the pumpkin as if she was testing its ripeness. Oops.]

Anybody in there?

[Pilouette lets out a loud squeak because wow, she had not been expecting that. She jumps and spins around to face Jane. Well. She's pretty sure she's facing her. It's hard to tell.]

I-I-if you're another ghost, you'd b-better get lost! D-Don't you have other people to play tricks on?!

Huh?

[Whoa, what was the deal here? Did this girl really think she was a ghost, of all things? However, that response did answer one of her questions, at least. Whoever this person was, they weren't out to scare other people. Still, that left her with one decision: to play along or not to play along.

The slowly-growing grin on her face was more than enough to show which side of the argument she preferred.]

Why would I find anyone else when you're right here?

[She lets out a wail of fright, backing away a little. She starts tugging on the pumpkin in an attempt to remove it.]

There are like, t-tons of other people to bug! I think there's pumpkin junk in my hair...! Wh-wh-wh-what do you even want, anyway?! You b-big...ghost...jerk!

[Clearly, she is a master of insults.]

... [Aaaaand her hand goes over her mouth for a moment. Must not laugh, must not laugh!]

"Big ghost jerk"? Geez, maybe I should haunt you until you start to come up with better insults. In fact, I think I will!

[Of course, she made no effort to help with that pumpkin. That would end her fun a little too soon for her liking.]

[A muffled scream comes from inside the pumpkin as Pils stumbles backwards. Oh god what to do, what to do...

Then, she crosses her index fingers, holding her arms out in front of her. That always works in the movies, right? Still stepping backwards, she tries to at least sound like she's not frightened.]

Uh..Like, b-begone or whatever!

[She blinked. Maybe, just maybe, she had gone a little too far.] Was that supposed to be a spell or something? Geez...

[After a sigh she made her way over and grabbed the pumpkin.]

Alright, let's get this off. It's not fun anymore after something like that.

Wh- But...but aren't ghosts afraid of crosses or something?!

[For once, she was almost sure she'd gotten her facts right. She's almost disappointed. She starts a little when she feel the pumpkin being grabbed.]

Wh-whoa! Be careful with that! It's jammed on like, super tight!

Trust me, it'll make way more sense once that pumpkin is gone.

[Now to get this silly thing off this girl's head. There was no way for her to find out how stuck it was until she tried to pull it off, right? 1, 2, 3, go!]

I could just try to smash it, if you want!

S-Smash...W-Wait a minute! You can't smash it! My head is in here you know! ...But what else can we do...?

I'll cut it open instead, then! I think I've got a pocketknife with me...

[Jane, you are not helping.]

C-c-can you even cut a pumpkin like this with a pocketknife?! Isn't that dangerous?!

[Assuming the knife is small, Pilouette thinks for a moment about the kind of force it would take to even get a pocketknife through a pumpkin.

It is not a positive thought.]

Yeah, it probably is. [...UM.]

If you've got a better idea, now would be a good time to speak up! That is, unless you want to walk around with a pumpkin on your head until it rots off...

[On one hand, that option does have a lower chance of her ending up with a missing eye. On the other hand...gross. And she really doesn't have any better ideas...]

Oh...fine! B-But whatever you do just like...be careful. Okay?

Yeah, yeah. Just leave it to me! ☆

[Click. Apparently she did have a knife with her after all, but instead of just stabbing the pumpkin she tried to make a diagonal cut along the side of the pumpkin. Her plan was to thin out the skin just enough to easily make an opening and try to pull the pumpkin apart with her hands.]

[She is still halfway wondering whether or not Jane is a ghost or not, but...if she is, she certainly a nice enough one.]

Um, like, thanks for helping me with this. Geez, I don't even know what part of the village I'm in...

~~[Shh, don't let her hear about that.]~~

Well, you're in a maze, for one thing. I guess being as blind as a bat thanks to this thing--[knock knock]--wasn't good enough already, huh?

[There! After quite a wait, the pumpkin was thin enough for her to make a hole in it without stabbing Pilouette. To be honest she wasn't sure how difficult it would be to start pulling it apart from there or if it was even possible, but that kind of thinking had never stopped her before. ...Especially since she was running on pure stubbornness at this point.]

Finally! Alright, this thing's coming open!

A maze?! No wonder I didn't run into anyone until now...! It's probably going to take me like, forever to find my way out, too...Ugh.

[Especially given that she's been wandering around it, both aimless and clueless, for...she doesn't even know how long. She's pretty happy when she hears the pumpkin's finally starting to open up, though.]

Great! I'm really starting to get sick of the smell...um, plus the whole not being able to see thing.

Well, you're not the only one who's starting to get annoyed by this stupid pumpkin, you know!

[And when she got annoyed, that...well, it didn't always lead to good things. In this case, it lead to her grabbing hold of both sides of the opening she had made and pulling with all her might. Recoil? Pfft, who cares about that.]

WAUGH! Sh-Shouldn't you be more careful with this thing?!

[Pils can't help but freak out a little at this new pumpkin-targeted aggression and starts pulling in the other direction.]

Well, do you want this thing off or not!?

[Pulling back! Because that would totally end well.]

O-Of course I do, but like, I don't want to break my neck or whatever in the process!

[She's still pulling as well. It almost feels like it's slipping just a tiny bit...]

It's fine, it's fine! Just say something if you feel like your neck is going to break!

[She wasn't about to let that chance slip away, so she decided to go for broke!]

R-Right...!

[Not that she really knows what her neck breaking feels like, but...well, she doesn't want to find out, either. She grabs the pumpkin to try and brace herself as she pulls.]
