Halloween is once again descending on Luceti! There's a maze and some mists and some ghoulish visitors and all kinds of pranks. Oh, and the parties. Don't forget the parties. Or the candy. Man, those kids on the draft don't know what they're missing.

As a reminder:

Starting on the 28th (yesterday) and going until the 31st, strange thngs are happening in Luceti. This is for those who have stayed behind from the draft OR for those who have been safely evacuated from the draft after their requisite quarantine time.

Get lost in the maze! Get rid of the spiders and rats and bats! Eat candy! Try on costumes! Do stuff unrelated to these weird happenings!

Be pranked! Do pranks of your own (if you wanna take advantage of the great scapeghosts)! Go to their harvest festival party!

Most of all? Have a spooktacularly fun time.

[On one hand, that option does have a lower chance of her ending up with a missing eye. On the other hand...gross. And she really doesn't have any better ideas...]

[Click. Apparently she did have a knife with her after all, but instead of just stabbing the pumpkin she tried to make a diagonal cut along the side of the pumpkin. Her plan was to thin out the skin just enough to easily make an opening and try to pull the pumpkin apart with her hands.]

[She is still halfway wondering whether or not Jane is a ghost or not, but...if she is, she certainly a nice enough one.]

Um, like, thanks for helping me with this. Geez, I don't even know what part of the village I'm in...

~~[Shh, don't let her hear about that.]~~

Well, you're in a maze, for one thing. I guess being as blind as a bat thanks to this thing--[knock knock]--wasn't good enough already, huh?

[There! After quite a wait, the pumpkin was thin enough for her to make a hole in it without stabbing Pilouette. To be honest she wasn't sure how difficult it would be to start pulling it apart from there or if it was even possible, but that kind of thinking had never stopped her before. ...Especially since she was running on pure stubbornness at this point.]

Finally! Alright, this thing's coming open!

A maze?! No wonder I didn't run into anyone until now...! It's probably going to take me like, forever to find my way out, too...Ugh.

[Especially given that she's been wandering around it, both aimless and clueless, for...she doesn't even know how long. She's pretty happy when she hears the pumpkin's finally starting to open up, though.]

Great! I'm really starting to get sick of the smell...um, plus the whole not being able to see thing.

Well, you're not the only one who's starting to get annoyed by this stupid pumpkin, you know!

[And when she got annoyed, that...well, it didn't always lead to good things. In this case, it lead to her grabbing hold of both sides of the opening she had made and pulling with all her might. Recoil? Pfft, who cares about that.]

WAUGH! Sh-Shouldn't you be more careful with this thing?!

[Pils can't help but freak out a little at this new pumpkin-targeted aggression and starts pulling in the other direction.]

Well, do you want this thing off or not!?

[Pulling back! Because that would totally end well.]

O-Of course I do, but like, I don't want to break my neck or whatever in the process!

[She's still pulling as well. It almost feels like it's slipping just a tiny bit...]

It's fine, it's fine! Just say something if you feel like your neck is going to break!

[She wasn't about to let that chance slip away, so she decided to go for broke!]

R-Right...!

[Not that she really knows what her neck breaking feels like, but...well, she doesn't want to find out, either. She grabs the pumpkin to try and brace herself as she pulls.]

Hey, I thing we're getting close with this thing...!

Seriously? Okay, I'm going to give it all I've got, then! For real this time!

[She pulled with enough force to send her tumbling when (or if) the pumpkin came off. That wasn't going to end badly at all!]

[With one last tug from both of them, the pumpkin finally comes off. Pilouette falls backwards onto her backside, bits of pumpkin goo and pumpkin seeds in her hair. She takes a second to get her head together.]

Finally! I was really starting to get sick of that pumpkin smell...

Oof!

[Stupid recoil. Well, at least now she could throw the pumpkin down and smash it for good. That would be awfully cathartic.]

You've got all that leftover junk on you, so I wouldn't say you've gotten rid of the smell just yet.

[She feels around on her hair and pulls her hand back, cringing, when she feels all the pumpkin goop.]

Ohh, yuck!

[As she starts picking the seeds out of her hair, she looks over. Oh, right...]

Oh! Um! Are you okay?

[stands up.]

I'm just fine! I just...stumbled a bit, that's all!

[Well, that was one way of putting it. After all, she had to protect her pride!]

Oh! Good to hear!

[Pils gets to her feet as well, still trying to get the pumpkin remnants out of her hair.]

Um, thanks again for helping me out with that! If I hadn't run into you, I probably would have seen stuck walking around this place forev-

[Wait a minute.]

A-ah! You're not a ghost after all!

Nope! I was messing with you the whole time. [smile!]

I thought for sure that you'd find me out when I grabbed the pumpkin though, considering ghosts can't really do that...

That like, totally wasn't funny! Geez, you had me totally scared to death at first!

And ghosts put that thing on my head in the first place so, I totally thought that...well...! Besides! Haven't you ever heard stories of haunted houses and stuff where furniture and junk just moves on its own?! Ghosts can totally do stuff like that! It's like, the super scariest!

[Sorry, Pilouette, she's still grinning. She never could pass up a good prank...]

Not really. I can think of scarier things. Besides, there's probably some kind of spell out there that could move things around like that.

I guess...? I mean, I don't really know a lot about magic and stuff. And of course there are scarier things! But ghosts are like, totally up with the scariest of them! Don't tell me you haven't been freaked out with all these ghosts and junk around!

[raises an eyebrow.]

Okay then, I won't tell you. Besides, there's no way I'm going to admit to something like that! I've got my pride to think about here.

You won't admit it...? So you're at least a little bit scared, right?

What? No way! That's not what I meant at all! All I'm saying is if I was scared--which I'm not--I certainly wouldn't say anything about it!

Oh...[She giggles just a little.] Like, I get it.

[She takes a quick glance around.]

I wonder how big this maze is anyway...?
