EVENT LOG: SCAVENGER HUNT
Who: All you scavenger hunters!
What: Scavenging and other fantabulousness, I suppose.
When: November 24th to 28th
Where: The whole village! And yet also all over time and space...
Summary: See this post for more info.
Rating: P for Points! (Keep it PGish, folks. Anything worthy of a higher rating can be brought to your appointments posts.)
As announced by CJ, the village's immediate environs are divided up according to this map. There are five areas: the Nile, Ice Age, Space Opera, Shogunate, and Gangland. Time-and-place appropriate architecture and conjured up NPCs exist in each area.
Don't forget the scavenger hunt! While actually finding things is ultimatly optional, you can find more information on the hunt here. If you want to claim a reward from the hunt, be sure to link at least two related threads on the new rewards claims post.
Finally, here's a quick rundown of the objects:
- In THE NILE: A ceremonial dagger and a piece of Pharoah's treasure
- In GANGLAND: A tommy gun and a set of car keys
- In ICE AGE: A bone spear and a smilodon's tooth
- In SPACE OPERA: a raygun and part of a robot
- In SHOGUNATE: a samurai sword and water from a kappa's head
Happy hunting!

Or wait. You may have to pay attention when that happens.]

When he sees a woman further up the path, he is very alarmed. That she might be the instigator of his woes doesn't enter his mind.]
RUN!
no subject
But I haven't finished studying it yet!
no subject
[And if that isn't enough for her, he'll be just have to drag her along by the wrist. There are times for gentlemanliness, and those times are not now.]
no subject
[Luckily, she's not very difficult to drag along, and is forced to run anyway, with the hold he has on her wrist.]
no subject
[He is appalled at your lack of alarm, madam.]
no subject
-- No! My precious samples!
no subject
[He looks back and sees the bag sitting there. A beat, and then he lets go of Raine and hurries back in the direction they came from, where the boulder looms into visibility under the glare of a torchlight. He questions his life briefly as snatches up the sack of dubiously genuine artifacts, doubling back toward Raine with twice the urgency.]
Now go!
no subject
[The artifacts are safe. That's all that matters.
... And she finally starts running. When she's under her own power instead of being dragged, she's much quicker than the taller gentleman.]
no subject
But thankfully, there should be a safe room right up ahead. Just a bit more...]

The puzzlemaster may appreciate that there will be little pictures on the wall to press in a certain order to activate the door.
Time however, is of the essence, and Raine isn't much help in this state - it's as if everything logical about her has been overridden.]
no subject
The door slides up in a shower of dust and sand just as the boulder's thunder reaches the height of its volume behind them. Layton scrambles for the opening, but not before reaching for Raine's wrist once again; he'd rather not risk her getting crushed right at the finish line.]
no subject
[She might have kept on going had he not the sense to grab her. And just in the nick of time. No sooner do they stumble into the darkened room does the boulder continue it's descent, picking up speed and rushing past, leaving only a breeze to whip the sand and dust into their faces as it rumbles down to the end of the track.]
no subject
That was quite the surprise. Are you all right?
no subject
[Now that the moral peril is over, that bright-eyed expression is back, as she nearly ignores the gentleman's query, far more interested in studying this new passage.] Hm?
no subject
I'm inclined to believe the former. I'm not aware of many trap-laden ruins with forgiving attitudes toward their trespassers. [He gives the passageway a sweep with the light, revealing worn carvings in the wall.]

The sun god, Ra. If I recall correctly, he's depicted here riding his solar boat to the underworld.

By the way, my name is Hershel Layton. How do you do?
no subject
Raine Sage. Lets get moving! There must be more clues along the way!
no subject
Raine Sage? The head of the school?

I see now what Emil meant when he said you loved ruins. Not that it's a bad thing, of course.

Archaeology is fantastic! There's nothing bad about it!
