[Day 3, open for Ceodore later]

[Kain is collapsing mentally, broken and consumed by darkness. The fact they're in this underwater, enclosed place makes it even worse- he belongs to the sky, and right now he can't even have that. All he has is his own inner darkness. All he has is the fear that she might not come back. In this state, it's best he's taken down before he turns fully to the dark and starts attacking allies. With the last shred of sanity he has left, he's come to his decision and now intends to follow through.]

[He can't live without Rydia.]

[Too bad his allies are all idiots and wouldn't give him a real duel to the death. But there are plenty of enemies here who can, and Kain charges recklessly through them. He keeps an eye out for someone particular... and then sees the demon in the middle of viciously killing the enemy. Perfect.]

[Kain rushes toward Yuber, stabbing through an enemy in his way. Then he strikes his spear toward the demon to get his attention.]

[Oh how entertaining, it's that idiot again. A quick stab of his foe deals with that issue and now he can entertain himself with killing a blond dragoon yet again that he is seeing out of the corner of his eye.

Good, killing that idiot again at least would be enjoyable since most of these enemies so far have not been any challenge at all.

He points his blood covered sword toward Kain.]
Are you ready to die again then? That man who saved you last time isn't here to save you again.

[It's a relief to know that he won't be interrupted by Golbez this time. Kain left all of his cards along with his journal and healing items back in his room. But he has one card he'd made just before this, in shaky lettering that's very unlike his usual handwriting. He stares almost pleadingly as he holds it up.]

Kill me.

[Day 3, open for Ceodore later]

[identity profile] blackenedchaos.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[It would seem there is one benefit to knowing a murderer, because the demon will definitely not hesitate in the least bit to kill someone who wants to die. Of course he kills plenty who don't want to die either.

Still, as much as he hates doing someone like Kain a favor, he's not going to deny someone who wants death their wish.

It will be obvious that the demon understands what the card said, because now one of his swords is ready to strike and aiming for a very quick and lethal strike. Because truly, why make even his enemies suffer needlessly?]

[Day 3, open for Ceodore later]

[identity profile] dragoon-pride.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[A slight step to the side means that strike ends up wounding him, but not quite killing him yet. He returns that with a very half-hearted counterattack, just going through the motions at this point, his actions completely automatic.]

[He has to go out fighting. Whether or not the demon understands this, Kain knows he'll be granted what he wants. Dying as a warrior should is important to him. So that means he's going to put up... something of a fight, despite his obvious death wish. It will be noticeable that he's barely trying to defend himself this time, though, just biding his time until he slips up and it's finally over. ]

[Day 3, open for Ceodore later]

[identity profile] blackenedchaos.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, the demon definitely is noticing that pathetic attempt at dodging, even more pathetic than Kain normally is.

So pathetic that the demon doesn't even have to try to block that counterattack and counters with his own strike with the other sword.

And unlike Kain, Yuber is most definitely doing his utmost to kill the dragoon. Strangely enough, the demon does understand wanting to go down fighting.]

[Day 3, open for Ceodore later] ...and I'm thinking Ceo can come in at anytime now!

[identity profile] dragoon-pride.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[The strike hits, giving him another painful wound. But every hit he takes also gives Kain a sick hope, that maybe this one will be the one that ends it. He keeps up the fight only just enough to make this into a real battle... but he sees little point in putting up too much of a defense, so he won't even block whatever comes next. No sense in prolonging the inevitable.]

[Day 3, open for Ceodore later]

[identity profile] lunarianlegacy.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Ever since Kain went walking off, Ceodore's been desperately looking for him. When he finally sees the familiar dragoon, he's engaged in fighting someone... someone familiar. It's that man he'd run into in the desert. One of their own attacking, not the Third Party.]

NO! Stop!!

[Without considering that this might be what Kain wants, the rash prince comes rushing up to jump between them in a defensive stance.]

Don't do this!

[Day 3, open for Ceodore later]

[identity profile] blackenedchaos.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
[That was most definitely not a smart move, Ceodore. The demon would be oh so glad to add the young prince to his victims along with Kain and Yuber is also very displeased to see someone getting in the way of his prey.]

If you don't want to die too, you had better step aside.

[The demon has his swords ready and if needed, he will go around the young boy to get to the dragoon. Nothing is going to stop the demon from ending the suffering of one who actually wants it to end.]

[Day 3, open for Ceodore later]

[identity profile] dragoon-pride.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[No, Ceodore. NO. You are NOT going to pull a Golbez on him this time. He'd much rather take a quick honorable death over the descent into darkness and wasting away that he'd go through otherwise... so he isn't going to just stand aside and let Ceodore stop this.]

[So once Ceodore is in the way, Kain starts desperately trying to get around him...]

[Day 3, open for Ceodore later]

[identity profile] lunarianlegacy.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
I won't let you kill him!

[Losing Rydia was bad enough. Ignore Kain's attempts to get around him, Ceodore lashes out with an upward slash. He's decent enough with a sword, but nowhere close to anything Yuber can dish out.]

[Day 3, open for Ceodore later]

[identity profile] blackenedchaos.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Not that Ceodore would know it, but that was a very bad idea because attacking the demon means he now can attack back and even kill his attackers if he wants to.

That slash is very easily parried by one as skilled as Yuber. But then few humans can match the demon because he is so willing to kill and has spent nearly all of his long life doing so.

A quick motion will have the other sword coming at Ceodore ready to hit his new foe. He hasn't forgotten about Kain, but this annoyance must be dealt with before he could kill the dragoon as requested.]

[Day 3, open for Ceodore later]

[identity profile] dragoon-pride.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Damn it, Ceodore. Doesn't he realize he'd only make it worse on Kain by saving him? This agony in him will wreck him if he doesn't end it. His rising Dark Side already believes he may as well kill Ceodore to get him out of the way... and he's spending every second fighting that impulse.]

[When Kain sees that sword coming at Ceodore, it's a split second decision, as he wavers between the dark and the light. If he lets Ceodore get hit, it'll do what he wants anyway. But he can't let that happen. Not for Cecil and Rosa's sakes.]

[So Kain makes a rush at Ceodore, to try and knock him out of the path of the blade and take that hit himself. If he succeeds, it'll strike him right through the chest.]

[identity profile] lunarianlegacy.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Not used to dealing with two swords at once, the best Ceodore can manage is to throw up his arm to block the incoming one... when Kain crashes into the side of him and knocks him to the ground. He looks up only to see the blow meant for him headed for Kain instead.]

[identity profile] blackenedchaos.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Yuber isn't going to stop with his momentum just because Kain decided to change the target. The demon didn't care who he killed, just as long as he does get to kill.

So that sword will keep on it's path towards Kain's chest, as long as the dragoon doesn't move out of the way, it will be a very quick end for him at least.]

[identity profile] dragoon-pride.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Kain stands there and lets the sword run him through. He then grimaces in pain and staggers back a few steps.]

[At least... Ceodore is out of harm's way. Why should he care about that kid, anyway? There's no time to consider what that might mean, of course, that he bothered fighting the Darkness for his sake. He's done what he had to. Nothing more or less than that. He's gone down fighting and without spilling any of his allies' blood.]

[And although he's been craving this more than anything, there's still a few seconds of terror. Dying just... isn't pleasant in Kain's experience. Not even he could ever get used to this feeling, even having gone through it before. He sinks to his knees and mouths something.]

['Rydia...']

[Thinking of her gives him a strong sense of relief as he crumples to the ground. There's no fight in him this time, no struggle to keep going. He just waits, as everything goes numb, his mind fades out, and his last breath goes out in a ragged gasp. Kain's body soon goes completely still.]

[identity profile] lunarianlegacy.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Staggering back to his feet only serves to give Ceodore a front row seat to seeing Kain be impaled by a blow he knows was meant for him.]

NO!

[Unfortunately the kid is spent from his futile attempts to revive Rydia. He can just drum up enough magic to cast Cure on Kain and nothing more. It should be enough to give the dragoon a fighting chance, if it weren't for the delay it takes to properly execute the spell.

Which washes over him second after he dies, making it entirely useless. Forgeting that Yuber's there and still a threat, Ceodore starts rummaging in his pouch from Golbez looking for something- anything- to reverse that. An ether, a phoenix down... but in his desperate haste, he's coming up empty handed.]

[identity profile] blackenedchaos.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[And that would be a mistake for Ceodore, because Yuber will most definitely not forget the other human nearby. One doesn't live centuries on the battlefield by making mistakes like that.

That and Yuber is all too happy to make it two deaths among their allies today. To him it doesn't matter who dies, as long as he can kill people.

The demon will be striking at Ceodore within moments of pulling his sword out of Kain's chest. Hopefully Ceodore is ready for it.]

God it feels cheap to do this....

[identity profile] lunarianlegacy.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's not at all ready for an incoming blow but the sick sound of a weapon being pulled out of a body gets his attention enough that Ceodore braces to defend against it.

... to be teleported back to his room having hit the eighteen hour mark. Unable to tell what just happened, the prince stands still lost and confused to what just happened.]
