Summary: So Nami and Usopp have gone home. Naoki isn’t exactly in the best of moods. Solution: run to Ted, of course.

[Gone. Naoki couldn’t believe it. He didn’t even want to believe it. It was easier to deny that they weren’t gone, not both of them within a few days. It wasn’t fair.

And he knew he was being a brat about it. A selfish one. Because he didn’t want them to go where he couldn’t see them anymore. He wanted them h—no. It was a thought that he couldn’t help but be angry at himself for. It was the thought that had drove him outside into the cold wind and snow, hands buried in his pockets and eyes fixed on the ground.

He wasn’t sure where to go. He’d left a note for Isamu and Richard and would likely contact them over the journals later but for now, he just—

Naoki stops, looks up. Community building 7…huh? He hadn’t even noticed his feet leading him here. But without preamble he was entering and scaling the steps. He had almost expected his body to take him here. There was just something…heh. He wanted to see Ted, he guessed. Somehow he was comforted around him. Soon enough he’d reach the door to his apartment and if his knock received no answer…he would sit on the floor next to it.

[He chuckles at that, following right after.] Small details. You think the snow's going to start clearing up soon?

Hmm, I dunno. It's only January, yet. How long did it snow for last year...? [The last bit is mumbled mostly to himself as he thinks.]

[Naoki nods.] Heh--we've got just a bit until we're rid of it.

[Naoki walks after him, falling into step with him.] Eh? Oh, yeah--we can invite them sometime. Just us'd be fun too though, yeah?

Oh, definitely! I just thought-- [A pause, before he rubs the back of his neck. Naoki's going to get mad if he continues that line.] Well, we'll both have to conquer the lake ourselves then.

Nothing. It was a stupid thought. [He says, awkward, and he wasn't really wrong in thinking it was stupid.]

[A pause, then a sigh as he looks away. Well, Naoki will probably keep pestering him about it so...] it's--- I just thought you might like it better if you're with them, you know? Then I thought maybe if I added in Aldo and Lazlo, you wouldn't feel [Like you should divide attention to the three of them, especially since it wasn't like Ted actually hangs out with Isamu or Richard much.]--- Like I said, it was a stupid thought.

... [Naoki makes a grumpy sound, furrowing his eyebrows.] Yeah, it was. You're just as important to me as they are. [He says it crossly, but it's sincere.] M'happy to have time with just you.

I know that. [He chuckles, ducking his head to hide his embarrassment.] It's why I didn't continue that line of thought.

[Naoki brings an arm partly around his shoulders and bumps his head to Ted's shoulder.] Stop thinking like that or I'll punch you.

... Oi. [He does not want to be punched.]

Got it? So no more thinking that way. [He says it all sternly but there's an underlying note of fondness to his voice.]

Definitely. [He chuckles, swinging an arm around Naoki's waist for a moment, before pulling him into a brief hug then letting go.] Come on then. Let's go before we end up staying here the whole day.
