Your characters are shuffling off to their rooms. Each room has their name beside it and only they can open the door. People can only enter their room if they're allowed in (or they leave the door open). Characters will find any requested items in their room already. If they have a requested vehicle, there will be another door in their room that will take them to the hangar to inspect their equipment.

((Mod note: Extra draftees won't experience their Shift Incompatibility handicap in their dorms. :|a))

[Homura lets out a laugh when the other man makes his distinction.] Yes, I'd imagine that would be the case. Though for future reference, this is how I normally am.

[For Homura's part, the list of people he met while trapped in his lover's guise is a short one. Being just close enough to hear the softly spoken "highness" from the shadow narrows that down further, allowing Homura to guess.]

Still, the same could be said for you; your appearance differs greatly from that of Rokuta's.

I know, I'm much more attractive. [Shouryuu grins a little wider.] Here for the fun as well, are you? [Though he knows neither of them will really call it that.]

Well, a case certainly could be made for that. [Which is to say, Homura does agree that Shouryuu is a looker. Homura flirts easily, despite the grim topic that the other man brings up a moment later.]

Indeed. Though unlike most, there are certain aspects of what's to come that I am looking forward to. [Surprise, Shouryuu. You weren't entirely right with that assessment.]

[Shouryuu's lips curl up into a small smile and he shrugs a little. He's not surprised exactly; he's known a lot of soldiers in his life after all.]

Ah, well, that is lucky for you then.

[Probably not like this guy.] Only to a certain extent. I'd much rather fight for my own purposes than those of the Malnosso.

[He laughs.]

Wouldn't we all?

One would hope. [Although from the responses, Homura saw far too many voices who were willing to fight for what in his mind were the wrong reasons.]

I didn't see Rokuta's name on the lists. I'll take it to mean he's not here.

No. And thank whatever exists in this world for that. [His expression is slightly darker at the thought.] He would have been the biggest liability in the world. [And Shouryuu would have been... he didn't even know. The very thought of Rokuta at one of these made him sick to the stomach.]

[A non-combatant, or something more? Homura watches Shouryuu silently for a moment, then ventures a guess.] Would that have to do with his ability to sense the blood others have shed?

And I wouldn't be so quick to give thanks. The Malnosso seem to not care if those they select have no place on the battlefield. It is very likely that he will be selected, at one point or another.

Rokuta is sensitive to blood. [To say the least.

And the day Rokuta is selected to be here... If and when that day came, the Malnosso would have a lot to answer for. There would be very little in any world that could stand in Shouryuu's way.]

I would hope they'd be cleverer than that. I do not exaggerate when I say he would be the biggest battle liability in the world.

Good to know. [Especially since Homura himself is unafraid of physical confrontation.] I take it I should avoid him on our return, then?

[Homura does count Rokuta as a friend. Which is why he'll offer what little comfort he can to Shouryuu.]

I wouldn't presume to guess at their reasoning in that regard. But those who put together the strategy would do their best to compensate for that liability, from what I've seen.

If that comes to be the case, then they will have to compensate rather a lot; Rokuta will likely be unconscious for most of it. [He glances away and shrugs.] And yes, while there is blood on us... the further away we are, the better for him.

So he is that strongly affected... [Homura murmurs the thought, speaking to himself more than Shouryuu at that moment. It's unfortunate, but that means he'll have to avoid the Kirin for some time after the battle is done.] Thank you for the warning.

The noncombatants aren't expected to fight themselves, at least not by the others who have been drafted. There is a defensive force set up largely for their protection.

That's something at least. [Though he's going to simply try to hope it never comes to that. He'll do everything in his power to protect Enki.]

He really is quite useless in these situations. [Hence why kirins needed a king.]

Hopefully the same can't be said of his king. [Homura grins toward Shouryuu, though he's speaking frankly. He has no idea what Shouryuu is capable of, after all.] Otherwise, you'd be better off with the noncombatants.

[Shouryuu laughs.]

A useless kirin and a useless king? I doubt our country would have survived this long.

Most likely not, although I'm curious as to how long "this long" has been. And I'm afraid you'll simply have to forgive my attempts at caution. Rokuta would be upset if you died on the battlefield because no one questioned your skills.

Five hundred years.

[He snorts out a laugh and shrugs carelessly.]

Rokuta would find it very funny that anyone question my skills. [Then he'd tell Shouryuu he was an arrogant ass.]

That's a good amount of time. [Though Homura doesn't seemed shocked by the number. Instead, he just grins knowingly.]

So it'd be far to say you're as skilled in such a situation as Rokuta is useless?

[Sorry, Rokuta. Homura needs an accurate gauge.]

[Shouryuu laughs.]

They pair up a king and a kirin for that reason. I'm stuck with the brat because he makes up for my faults and I make up for his.

[Pause.] Of course, he's got the easier job.
