Your characters are shuffling off to their rooms. Each room has their name beside it and only they can open the door. People can only enter their room if they're allowed in (or they leave the door open). Characters will find any requested items in their room already. If they have a requested vehicle, there will be another door in their room that will take them to the hangar to inspect their equipment.

[A non-combatant, or something more? Homura watches Shouryuu silently for a moment, then ventures a guess.] Would that have to do with his ability to sense the blood others have shed?

And I wouldn't be so quick to give thanks. The Malnosso seem to not care if those they select have no place on the battlefield. It is very likely that he will be selected, at one point or another.

Rokuta is sensitive to blood. [To say the least.

And the day Rokuta is selected to be here... If and when that day came, the Malnosso would have a lot to answer for. There would be very little in any world that could stand in Shouryuu's way.]

I would hope they'd be cleverer than that. I do not exaggerate when I say he would be the biggest battle liability in the world.

[Homura does count Rokuta as a friend. Which is why he'll offer what little comfort he can to Shouryuu.]

I wouldn't presume to guess at their reasoning in that regard. But those who put together the strategy would do their best to compensate for that liability, from what I've seen.

If that comes to be the case, then they will have to compensate rather a lot; Rokuta will likely be unconscious for most of it. [He glances away and shrugs.] And yes, while there is blood on us... the further away we are, the better for him.

So he is that strongly affected... [Homura murmurs the thought, speaking to himself more than Shouryuu at that moment. It's unfortunate, but that means he'll have to avoid the Kirin for some time after the battle is done.] Thank you for the warning.

The noncombatants aren't expected to fight themselves, at least not by the others who have been drafted. There is a defensive force set up largely for their protection.

That's something at least. [Though he's going to simply try to hope it never comes to that. He'll do everything in his power to protect Enki.]

He really is quite useless in these situations. [Hence why kirins needed a king.]

Hopefully the same can't be said of his king. [Homura grins toward Shouryuu, though he's speaking frankly. He has no idea what Shouryuu is capable of, after all.] Otherwise, you'd be better off with the noncombatants.

Most likely not, although I'm curious as to how long "this long" has been. And I'm afraid you'll simply have to forgive my attempts at caution. Rokuta would be upset if you died on the battlefield because no one questioned your skills.

That's a good amount of time. [Though Homura doesn't seemed shocked by the number. Instead, he just grins knowingly.]

So it'd be far to say you're as skilled in such a situation as Rokuta is useless?

They pair up a king and a kirin for that reason. I'm stuck with the brat because he makes up for my faults and I make up for his.
