DOESN'T NEED A CUT. People should know how this works, if not, just follow other people's lead. I'm gonna set up some strategist threads at the top, for the four strategists to use if they want to, otherwise people should start their own threads.

[Why, yes, she's ignoring you, Nami. It shouldn't be hard to figure out why she's going after her, though - does lightning ring any bells? She didn't have the opportunity to pay back that favor during the last draft, when she found out who had that ability, but this time... Like hell she's going to pass on the chance to eliminate a threat, even if they are technically on the same side at the moment.

This time, all she's doing is launch two more pairs of swords at Nami. No sickles or rows of spikes for now - or anything else, for that matter.]

[A nod - good. Now Sanji doesn't have to toss you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

It's along the track back to safer ground that Sanji notices just how far they're out. Too far. And it might not be the first day, when fighting was fiercest, but he's got a sick swordsman on his side that he must protect - a whole different ball game from fighting for yourself.

Unfortunately, the enemies seem to unconsciously realize this too. There's a group of twenty or so circling the area, and damn it, Sanji can tell immediately when they spot them: their wings shift in the sky, narrow as they fall closer with swords bared. And while technically he could take them all out in one go, with Richard around... damn. He won't risk lobbing the guy's head off.

Zoro, he could really use you as a projectile today.]

Shitty wing-men... [stopping them both. A quick glance shows the area is clear of any possible hiding places. They'll both be fighting] You ready, Richard?

It's too late to run. Let them get away and they'll get someone else. Or us again. [ fastidiously avoiding the word me despite the fact that she is the only one of their duo affected by the shifting. ]

[ Poison is second on his list of suspicions, actually, but he has no way of confirming any of them at the moment. Hughes takes down another soldier of his own- push-knife to the head, very clean and the one of the most badass things he's capable of.

Which may or may not be undermined by the fact that he has to stop to get that coughing out of his system when the area's clear enough. >_> ]

...Affirmative. Unidentified target detected. Standing by in battle mode...

[...Is that music...? This is, frankly, seriously confusing her right now.]

[The pirate consults his compass, and mutters several choice swears as he goes forward to meet them.] Then you will do me the honor of staying behind me, madam.

[That could also be it. She wasn't exactly made for this kind of combat, though with that in mind, she's faring rather well, even if she does miss more often than she normally would.]

Affirmative. No errors detected during data transmission.

[...Alternatively, maybe she's just lagging a bit? Processing the readings while still engaging Third Party soldiers in combat might be causing some minor delay in her reactions, which would explain the occasional misses.]

[ reluctantly, she falls a few steps back. it isn't exactly obedience. there are three of them -- she won't be left unemployed. ]

Gee, since you asked so nicely. [ she sounds hostile, sure. but she's not hostile towards jack. ]

You think? [There's no bite in his tone this time save the remnants of an adrenaline rush. Shit, he's really starting to hate this draft and what it does to his psyche.

C'mon. [Both are still surrounded by the heat of battle. This is no time to dawdle.] Unless you want your head cut off again.

But he follows obediently, feeling wonderfully guilty.]

Y-yeah. It's not the funnest experience.

[Whoa! That place is headed in his direction. Bowser changes path to avoid what he thinks is going to be a collision. He shakes his fist at the girl riding the plane.]

HEY! Watch where you're flying you dumb broad!

[So far Yue has managed to stay a good distance from the groups of enemy fighters, using his arrows at range to take down the Third Party without putting himself close enough to discover if any of them are Shifters. This group, however, is moving particularly fast and determined, and the guardian drops closer to the ground just in case, though he keeps firing one glowing blue arrow after another into the knot of winged fighters without pausing.

He knows there's someone else from his side below him, but hopefully they're observant enough not to assume he's the enemy. If not... he might have a problem soon.]

[Terra's forced to divert her attention for a moment, blasting another soldier back with the force of those Holy missiles of hers. The moment she's able to focus on him again, though, she casts Poisona on him. It ought to cure most poisons...at least normally. It's worth a shot, anyway?]

[One day Nami's going to find a way of politely sitting down her enemies and trying Vash's trick and saying killing doesn't solve your problem. No, really. She'll be back in a week. For now, she stares back at Nu in disbelief]

In case you haven't noticed, we're--

[Not dodging those swords. They hit. And go right through the both of them, the edges of Nami and Sayo rippling slightly as Nami goes right on talking.]

--in the middle of a war zone. You've got nothing better to do than attack civilians?

[Yup, that'd be a mirage. Not sure if Nu is familiar with those-- maybe it'll stall her for a few seconds.

For Sayo's benefit, Nu appears to be attacking where they were just standing a few moments ago. Hiding two people is hard, but as long as she can buy a few seconds...

Tugging you this way, Sayo. Maybe she at least has time to stash you somewhere safe. ;;]

[Don't expect a peep out of her, for fear that she'll give away something and ruin their chances of getting out of this. She can only hope Nami was strong and knew what to do against this new threat—Sayo sure as hell wasn't ready to face it.

Her hand is clinging to Nami's with a strong grip, shuffling quickly along with her and keeping to the same thought process as Nami. Where could they go? Where's a good place to hide?]

[A no-nonsense man after his own heart.

Sadly, he doesn't get to "see" you that first day, but a rather moody pirate is on the prowl day 2, and toting a legion of baddies behind him. And by legion I mean five.

Sanji feels insulted]

[That rippling is... rather difficult to miss. Hiding from sight, huh? Admittedly, she's not unfamiliar with that kind trick at this point, thanks to having a little bit of practice with Hyt's magic, but this is... definitely a different method.]

Irregularity detected... Target's location has changed. [Despite what she's seeing. Stupid mirage.] Searching for new location of the target...

[She should be able to detect the two sooner or later, but for now, she's not launching another assault. Enjoy the short breather, you two - it probably won't last long.]

[Jack wastes no time with a comeback. Even though he hates doing it this way, he charges in with sword drawn, aiming to cut the Achilles tendons of the first of the fighters--a regular soldier, nothing special about him. Once the man is moaning on the ground, he leaves and launches against the second...an Elite.

This is going to be significantly more difficult. The Shifter remains just behind, eyes glowing.]

Good, because radar's picking up a small wave coming in from vector zero-eight-five. Looks like there's an Elite or two in that group.

Rolling in to engage, range approximately eight miles. Get ready, Nu.

[And with that, he banks the plane to the right and pitches up, pulling toward the vector indicated.]

True. Guess you gotta be to know Luffy and work under his grandfather.

[Nodding in the direction of where the defense post is] I'm heading back to keep an eye on the medical tent. You can join me, unless you've got other places to be.

[...Oh. Good. It's him. He opens up a channel to hopefully reach Bowser as he banks the plane around. ...The temptation to launch a missile at him is stronger than he cares to admit.]

There was plenty of clearance. Maybe you should learn to mind your head.

[Yeah, he doesn't sound happy. And he definitely doesn't sound like a broad.]

[She was preparing to strike the warrior, when the bullet barrage stops her tracks and makes her turn to the source.]

There was no need to waste your ammunition. I am perfectly capable of fighting them off myself.

They walk in silence, Sanji hyper-aware of their surroundings to the point of paranoia. Odd, how much he doesn't care about Ian's immortality - he can still get hurt, and that's what the chef's concerned with]

... how often does that happen?

[ buffy has no intention of hanging back more than is absolutely necessary; in fact, she is keen on distracting that shifter for jack's sake so he isn't left engaging two enemies at once. the elite will be challenge enough.

she circles the two engaged in combat -- keeping half a glance on the downed soldier in case he should prove to be a problem again. her slayer abilities may be gone but her tactical training under giles is still firmly at play. ]
