[Vash is quiet. He's expecting a snarky answer so he's doing something useful while he hears it; tying the man's hands behind his back.]

Make it impossible for them to fight.

I suppose so. [Vash stands up. Readying himself to deal with the next one.]

Yet people will always fight. Always conflict. This is simply the way life is and will always be. To seek peace, understanding at the same moment that you will not reach it, is one thing. To actually have dreams of accomplishing it...well you'll just ruin the balance of all life.

[She says this all in an emotionless tone. Rather than rile him up, she is simply trying to make him understand what she knows to be a universal truth.]

[He speaks calmly. He's heard all these arguments before.] It can be done. People can change. So it can happen.

How many people are there in your world? If it's under fifty then fine, I'll believe you. If it's anything above five hundred then forget it. I've been alive for over centuries and those who tried to create world piece have only scratched the surface of the box they must open.

I didn't say that it would be quick, but even if it's only a scratch, it is a start. [Any hope is hope.]

[As she speaks, a few of her black cats approach the tied up Third Party solider and sniff and lick him eagerly. Their jewel eyes remain open the entire time, staring at the man as they do so.]

Leave him be. [Vash knows it's doubtful the cats will listen to him, but their master might.]

Eh? [Her eyes glance over to the cats, pretending to not even notice they were there.] My, what ungrateful cats I have. Even after I already fed them the scraps of meat that I slashed apart a few minutes ago, they still want more.

[She sighs wistfully, but does nothing to call them off. Slowly the cats start from licking and sniffing to chewing on the flesh of the solider viciously.]

[Vash just sighs before bending over and picking the man up. Hauling him up and over his shoulder. It may not be a comfortable ride for the Third Party member with his injury, but Vash doesn't care about that. It keeps him away from your cats he knows little about and he can move a little quicker than dragging him.

Unless you do something to stop him; Vash is going to move on away from you to find somewhere this man can be safe. He's already tired so he's not exactly pleased he's being forced to move him elsewhere.]

[As he moved the body, the cats slowly began following and crowding around Vash.

But, they then stopped and back away, as Bernkastel tapped her scythe against the ground. There was no point in bugging this optimist if there was no favorable reaction. Especially when there was plenty of other people on the battlefield that she could cut into. However, as a courtesy, she would keep the barrier around Vash as he moved, until the man would be put down.]

You are too kind.

[She says, turning around.]

[Maybe if he wasn't so tired and yet knowing there were many of these kinds of talks ahead of him she might have gotten more of a reaction, but for now Vash is planning on saving his energy when he can.

But her last remark brings a humorless chuckle and smile to his face.] I've heard that one before. [But he is happily surprised to find that someone is willing to lend him a little cover while he tends to at least this Third Party member.]
