DOESN'T NEED A CUT. People should know how this works, if not, just follow other people's lead. I'm gonna set up some strategist threads at the top, for the four strategists to use if they want to, otherwise people should start their own threads.

[Rydia enjoys watching him at work, now that he has those boots and gauntlets, though of course she does more than just watch. Any chance she gets, the Summoner is doing her part by blasting magic at their foes. Only when they come across those who negate such abilities does she hang back, and only until Kain has defeated them.

And while she understands his need for an outlet, Rydia remains the voice of reason for them both. When he's too tired or injured, she'll have them take a break, even if it's to pause somewhere long enough to down a potion or two. She means to keep to that promise of seeing them both through this alive.]

[Someone definitely has to be the sane one out here... and no way is it Kain once he gets in the heat of battle. At this early point, he'll also be better capable of carrying on and pushing himself more, not wanting Rydia to send him back too early.]

[Not that he doesn't appreciate her help when they're not having any problems with that shifting. He knows there's no way he'd be able to make it through this intact otherwise.]

[But there's no time to stop and thank her just yet, because it's very intense out there. He leaps into the air, taking advantage of the items he has to jump upon an enemy coming in to target her.]

[While Kain's doing that, Rydia takes advantage of the moment to finish the Drain spell she had at work. It's not visually impressive, but she needs the energy and it's the only way of healing herself outside of restoratives that she doesn't want to go through too quickly. She's been careful to restore her magic also, using Osmose liberally in between bouts of destruction.]

[Especially out here, the items Kain has work even better. He can almost think that he's got all of his capabilities back, although it's still not entirely the same and takes more effort and concentration than natural abilities. Nor is it quite as powerful but only Kain would notice that really. Still, it's a lot better than nothing.]

[He comes soaring downward and stabs viciously at the Third Party enemy... going a bit overboard with the brutality, as there's a slight bit of Dark Side coming out in how he's fighting, this battle. He's going to make them pay for what they went through.]

[Rydia notices Kain's viciousness and is about to comment, when she glances further behind him.]

More trouble!

[She casts Sleep on his enemy, hoping that will last long enough for Kain to finish him off, then gets to work on the Thundaga spell she'll have ready when their new enemies are within range.]

[Kain goes right to it, slaying that enemy with just as much ferocity if not more than the last one. It makes him feel better anyway! He keeps back for Rydia to do her spell, keeping an eye out for any of those with that Shifting ability...]

[Rydia's lightning bolt streaks down from the sky, enveloping their foes in a bright flash of light. She nods, satisfied with her work but also glancing warily around for sign of those shifters. They're bound to run into them sooner or later....]

[Kain keeps an eye on Rydia's position and how she's reacting to see if she notices anything amiss. So far it looks fine but Kain is cautious anyway...]

[...and sure enough, the next fighter that comes their way turns on the Shifting capability. Kain springs into action against the attacker.]

[Rydia frowns, noticing their company. It takes an enormous amount of willpower for the impatient summoner to hang back, but she knows she must. Kain needs to dispatch that Shifter before she can be of much use on the battlefield.]

[Which Kain gets right to taking care of, lunging in toward the enemy to start lashing out with his spear. It's a tough fight, but eventually Kain starts getting the upper hand...]

[Rydia waits, practically itching with impatience. Come on, Kain, take him down so that she can rain hell on the rest....]

[Knowing that Rydia is counting on him is incentive enough to make this happen quickly. He jabs at the enemy, then blocks an incoming blow, then tries another strike... they carry on blow for blow but after some time of this Kain scores a direct hit. Immediately he takes to slicing up the enemy with the same ruthlessness as he's had with others.]

[While Kain was busy, Rydia's already working on casting Meteor. It has a long casting time anyway, but is definitely worth the wait. When she's done and needs to release the energy, she shouts.]

Kain, move!

[Kain knows better than to delay when he hears that. His spear dripping with blood, he takes at once to the air and springs out of the way for the impending magic attack.]

[And just below him, Rydia rains death from above. Her meteors strike the soldiers with brutal efficiency, making quick work of them.]

[Kain lands and watches the burst of magic, as always impressed by the power contained in Meteor.]

[That immense power takes a lot out of Rydia and she sags a bit, definitely in need of a respite about now.]

[At least they're not being targeted by any enemies for now. Kain glances at her and nods slowly. If she needs to break, they'll take a break. He's better about that with her there as well.]
