DOESN'T NEED A CUT. People should know how this works, if not, just follow other people's lead. I'm gonna set up some strategist threads at the top, for the four strategists to use if they want to, otherwise people should start their own threads.

[Even from a distance away Asad could feel the shaking of the ground though he was well away from the spire that attempted to impale the boy. Damn. There was at least one Elite or Shifter among these, or else reinforcements might be nearby.

But he couldn't take his eyes off the ones that got hit earlier to try and find the one who did it so he'd have to hope the young boy could find that one from his vantage point in the wheat. He'll run towards the next closest one, but this time finds his blow blocked by the solider as he is getting back up.]
I got these guys, yell if you see any coming from above!

[And it looks like another one of the ones he had injured was getting back up. Damn it, he wasn't good at dealing with multiple foes at once without either one of the Marks of the Stars or his Mage Arts. He'll have to use Flame Vortex next and hope the one who made the ground shake wasn't a Shifter too.]

[Leon grimaces as he hears the shout from the man, clutching his tome under one arm as he looked around. There. In the air, another two soldiers -- one with a spear and the other with a broadsword.]

Two more! [He shouts, hand glowing as he gathered the spell he had be interrupted in the middle of.] Starlight! [Rays of light shot from the clear sky, focused on those two he had in his sights. It's stronger than his previous spell, sending both soldiers careening to the fields. Still no sign of that one Shifter or Elite. He concentrates on another spell.]

[When he hears the boy's shout about two more the only thought running in Asad's head is that his luck really was horrible today. Well, had better turn that around fast.] I'll leave them to you then!

[He quickly uses one of his Marks to summon up a pillar of fire to get the two nearby who are getting up.]

Got it! [Keep the communications short, Leon. He may not be a soldier or a fighter by any means, but he's been in enough battles to know how capable his magic was.]

Deep Freeze! [He's able to snap out the spells quickly with his powerful tome, encasing one of the two he had just downed in a block of ice. Another ground-based shift, this time breaking up the ground. He has to run from the widening gap, not wanting to stare at where wheat field as it's being swallowed up.

Where is that soldier!?]

[identity profile] magecaptain.livejournal.com 2011-03-02 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
[It's very capable, and if Asad had the time to say so right now, he'd tell Leon that that magic is as good as any of the men he's commanded.

The fire disappears and he can see that one of those soldiers is now dead. The other nearly so and will likely die if he leaves him there, but rather than risk an attack of desperation, he kills the man. He looks to see how many are left besides the two Leon is handling, three bodies, one getting up. Wait, shouldn't there be one more?

That thought is interrupted by the ground shaking and he nearly loses his balance. Damn it, not now when they almost had this group dealt with.]

[Leon continues looking around warily for the soldier that's causing the shifts, now closer to the soldiers he had knocked out of the sky only a little bit earlier. The one in ice is struggling weakly, while the other--

Crap.

Leon brings his book forward as a heavy rock is slung in his direction, the thick tome taking the brunt of the impact. But he's knocked off balance, falling out of sight in the wheat. He scrambles to open his book, knowing the soldier was going to try rushing him while he was down. He finds a page inscribed with ice crests, clutching the open book in front of him as he stands. Under normal circumstances, he could summon a ghostly demon warrior out of his book to fight for him in close combat. Unfortunately, Luceti forced him to adapt.

An icicle spear thrusts out of the tome, lancing the advancing soldier in the gut. Leon breathes hard, backing away and letting the soldier fall. He can't keep from cursing inwardly; he hates melee combat. One down, one more trapped.]

[Asad regains his balance just in time to take care of the last of the soldiers nearby him. He looks over in Leon's direction and sees the boy struggling with the last soldier.

And then as he is running over in that direction to help out he sees the solider get taken out by a spear of ice. He'll run up to Leon.]
Are you all right? [He sounds somewhat out of breath also from all that along with his having to quickly move from the wrong drop point to here.]

[And while he waits on Leon's answer, he's quickly scanning the skies. There's still at least one more out there. But where is the one causing those Shifts? Plus one of the others got away and seems to be nowhere to be found. Probably off for reinforcements which means they need to get out of here and fast.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] book-of-chaos.livejournal.com 2011-03-02 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Leon takes deep breaths to calm his nerves, shutting his tome to better look at the man who had been helping him in the battle.]

Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks. [It's probably too soon for thanks, but it doesn't hurt to get it out while they had a chance to breathe. His eyes follow Asad's upward, and he has to squint as he looks in the direction of the sun's positioning.] --There! At least one more! [The soldier had almost been hiding in plain sight, using the sun's brightness to deter their attention from the sky for too long.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] magecaptain.livejournal.com 2011-03-02 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's relived that Leon is all right. And it is indeed a bit too soon for thanks because they aren't totally out of danger yet, but who knows what was coming next.

And right as the boy commented, Asad could see that last soldier too. Damn, that was going to be hard to deal with because the sun would make it hard to aim well.]
Then let's do this before more can arrive.

[Asad is going to look back down and try to find the soldier's shadow to use for trying to aim since he intended to use a mark that would go from ground to sky again. There's no way he could keep looking up towards the sun, his eyes already burned just from that long and his vision was obscured enough by the spots in his eyes from having looked for a short time.. Once he finds the shadow, another pillar of fire will appear soon after.]

[identity profile] book-of-chaos.livejournal.com 2011-03-02 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[The Third Party soldier has the advantage of distance and air manipulation, and somehow skirts around the fire that had suddenly appeared. Leon stumbles around as he tries to keep an eye on the soldier as well, gasping as the ground again began to open up. Was this the one causing the shifts?

He was forced to leave the redhaired man's side to avoid the sudden fissure, disappearing into the tall wheat again as he hits the ground on his elbows and knees. Stupid shifting magic...

It's while he's on the ground that he gets an idea, and he pushes himself back to his feet to cast another of his shorter incantations.]
Deep Mist! [An artificial fog settles in the immediate area, obscuring them and the sky. It wouldn't last long, but maybe the other man would have a chance to find the soldier.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] magecaptain.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Asad curses inwardly because he knows it didn't work. The spell's duration ends and he's left having to get out of the way of the ground splitting again.

He also ducks into the wheat even though it isn't tall enough to obscure him completely. All he wants is just long enough to put away the sword and grab the bow and arrows he's also carrying. And as he's about to try and attempt to use that with the blinding light Leon's fog rolls over the area. Perfect that will help a lot. He'll get in a couple of shots before the fog vanishes at least. All he wants to do is just take out a wing before their vision is obscured again or another one shows up. He was definitely concerned about the one that got away.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] book-of-chaos.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
[When the magical fog dissipates, Leon is immediately looking around again--the sky, the ground, and everywhere in between. He doesn't see the soldier anymore.]

Did you hit him? [He calls over the distance, bringing his free hand up to shield his eyes.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] magecaptain.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Asad brings a hand up to see if he can find where the soldier went. He's not exactly the best shot, but not that horrible.

He's really not liking this one bit. he should have been able to disable a wing and force him to ground.]
Don't see any sign of him. We should probably take this chance and get out of here before he comes back with more.

[He's not really liking the idea of doing that, but remaining isn't any better.]

[identity profile] book-of-chaos.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Instead of answering right out, Leon hurries back over to join the man. He'd be more than happy to get out of here.] I was heading back to the distribution center.

[Last Day]

[identity profile] magecaptain.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
So was I. We might as well stick together until we get there. [Because there is indeed a chance those two who got away will be back and Asad will be damned if he lets anyone go off alone in a situation like that even if he wasn't headed in the same direction.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] book-of-chaos.livejournal.com 2011-03-04 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds good to me. [He pauses, trying to get his bearings in the field. The distribution center looks far away right now.

But he's ready to go whenever the man is. ...Which reminds him.]
Oh. I'm Leon. ...Nice to meet you.

[Last Day]

[identity profile] magecaptain.livejournal.com 2011-03-04 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
Nice to meet you, Leon. I'm Asad. [He quickly takes a look around to get his bearings too, and also one last scan of the area for the enemy.

And it's still clear as far as he can tell. Hopefully it will remain that way...]
Let's go. Keep an eye out, I have a feeling those ones who got away will be back.

[And he'll start heading towards the center, making sure Leon is coming too. He's inwardly cursing the fact that some of the enemy got away, but isn't going to be showing that one bit right now.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] book-of-chaos.livejournal.com 2011-03-04 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. Got it. [Taking orders in the SOS Brigade made it much easier to accept another's orders, but it was also clear that Asad was more comfortable on the battlefield than he was. So he's eager to nod and follow after the man, still looking around as carefully as he can while keeping a quick pace.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] magecaptain.livejournal.com 2011-03-04 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[Asad will definitely be keeping a quick pace too. But not such a quick pace that he can't keep an eye on their surroundings and they will tire themselves before getting to their destination.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] book-of-chaos.livejournal.com 2011-03-04 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[Leon grimaces as their journeying takes them through a cluster of hen houses. He's distracted by the various colorful versions of the normal chicken he's used to seeing, that scientist part of him stirring curiously at the new sights. Some chickens scatter noisily as they begin moving through the area.]

Re: [Last Day]

[identity profile] magecaptain.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Leon's distraction isn't a big deal, yet. Asad is taking the opportunity to look around for more Third Party because there is a very large chance that a sudden amount of noise like that is going to alert any nearby to their presence.

And he sees some movement, but it's gone so quickly that it's hard to tell if it was his eyes playing tricks on him or it was one of the chickens and not a soldier. Still, it didn't hurt to be careful.]
Be on guard, Leon. The noise may have alerted the enemy to our presence.

[And then he's going to pick up the pace a bit more.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] book-of-chaos.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. [Leon drags his attention away from the chickens, rationalizing that he wouldn't be able to take anything back with him to study, anyway. ...They were just chickens anyway.

He holds his tome close, ears twitching at every slight sound in the noisy area. Now that Asad's cautioned him, he's nervous again. Would they be able to run if they were attacked here, surrounded by the hen houses?

So he hurries after Asad as quietly as the chickens allow, wanting to get out of there as soon as possible.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] magecaptain.livejournal.com 2011-03-06 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Like Leon, Asad is nervous about the location and the fact that he saw something strange. But the longer it went without more enemy soldiers arriving, the more at ease he felt that it was just a trick the light or a chicken or something that wasn't a threat to them. Still, it wasn't time to relax just yet.

But the location was definitely a bad one. The hen houses didn't look like good hiding places since there wasn't an additional way to escape. On top of that the chickens would alert the enemy to their presence the second they went inside one.

He's keeping up the pace, but definitely making sure to watch behind them especially. Even if he's becoming more convinced that he was seeing things, the enemy is still out there and he's not letting Leon get hurt.]

[ooc: Should we have more appear within the next tag or so? Maybe right as they get out of this area so Leon can escape easily enough? Just want to make sure Leon can escape all right after Asad goes down.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] book-of-chaos.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Leon follows closely, trying not to let the clucking get to him. He'd prefer the relative quiet of the fields right now, where there was less cover for potential enemies and far less distractions.

He's about to comment that they should just run when a hen house somewhere behind them seems to blow up. He jumps, automatically swinging his head to look in the direction of the fire. If he wasn't so shocked, he might have yelled something.

He sees an Elite touch down on the top of another hen house behind him, and he blindly moves away from that general direction, not knowing what may be ahead of them.]

[Last Day]

[identity profile] magecaptain.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Asad looks quickly behind them once he hears the building blow up, because that made it obvious the enemy was here. And damn it, that sure looked like it wasn't one of the normal soldiers. Still, if it was only one Elite, that could be dealt with.

And he was about to use one of his Marks to deal with the Elite when he could hear the sound of running. He turned his head in that direction thinking it might be another soldier and sees Leon running.

He had to make a decision quickly, because the boy blinding running away like that could be the death of him, but running after Leon leaves the enemy at his back to attack.

Asad pulls out his sword so he's ready for an ambush behind him, and takes off after Leon. There was no other choice because he'd not abandon one of his allies to possibly run into a worse situation because this had to be a trap. And he doesn't make it very far before the Elite follows.

And Asad turns to attack just a bit too late. In time enough that the Elite's sword isn't able to take out both of his wings, but it still took out one. A loud scream tears out of Asad's throat because that was incredibly painful and causes him to miss his attack on the Elite.]
