DOESN'T NEED A CUT. People should know how this works, if not, just follow other people's lead. I'm gonna set up some strategist threads at the top, for the four strategists to use if they want to, otherwise people should start their own threads.

Saber. It is a pleasure meeting you, Jack. If only it could be under better circumstances.

"Saber"? That code for something?

You can call it that. I do not give out my real name often and have no trouble identifying as a Saber.

A Saber? Now it sounds like you're in some kind of club.

[He shakes his head incredulously, while taking a moment to clean the blood from his sword. It's a battlefield and there's little time for elegance and class. His pant leg will just have to do the trick.

... in the meantime, an enemy is closing in on them.]

It is just a code, as you said.

[She says with a small huff. Not that she was expecting to be taken completely seriously. Her eyes wander around the field, when she notices a figure in the distance. One that does not look like a friendly ally.]

We have another one.

[And a big'n at that. A seven foot, bearded, heavily armored one with a battle axe of matching size. Probably an Elite, by the looks of it. If it's like the simulated one, this one will be a bitch to deal with. It was like a friggin' juggernaut.]

Yours or mine?

[She frowned at the size of the man. He was not nearly as large as the Berserker she fought during the Grail Wars, but she wouldn't be surprised if she was close to being as strong. She turned to Jack, her eyes now those of a stern knight.]

It may be wise to team up against such a foe. We do not know if reinforcements will come following, so taking him down quickly should be the priority.

[Jack is already seeing this turning out to be very painful for him. A simulated version had some fun tossing him around. But if it comes to it, he'll pump this bastard so full of lead he'll be shitting pencils. He turns to Saber with a cocky grin.]

Teaming up already? And to think... we've only just met.

[He gives his sword a nice little flourish as he sizes the guy up. "Please don't let him be a quick healer."

He'll go barreling in first, avoiding the vertical axe swing and going for a horizontal swing of the sword. True, his blade does cut through the bastard, but only in the same way it would an oak tree. It gets stuck in the fleshy bit and throws off his momentum. A fist to the face quickly follows, sending both him and blade sprawling to the ground.]

[She doesn't respond and readies herself, just as Jack charges in. Yet the small victory in the fit is quickly eclipsed by the sight of Jack being thrown off by the punch. The sight makes her grit her teeth and tighten her grasp around the sword. She spares him no glance, in fear of the enemy taking advantage of the shock moment, and instead rushes at the Elite herself, moving side to side as she jumps several feet above the brute and swing her sword down, charging a Mana Burst into it for a hopefully stronger strike.]

[Well, let's just see how well this goes. Jack grabs his sword, this time holding it backwards. Why? Because while Saber is attacking, he's going to punch the big dude with the hilt, right into the bloody spot he just cut into him before.]

[She successfully launches her attack, but the result is not as amazing as she hoped it to be. Instead the Elite ends up blocking her sword with a strike of the axe and flinging her a few feet away with the force of the counter. However, it should serve as a decent distraction for Jack to come in for a shot without being intercepted.]

[Jack does manage to land his blow, thanks to her distraction. The Elite grunts in pain, but immediately swings around to punt Jack. However it doesn't connect, as Jack rolls out of the way, then charges with a tackle.]

[Saber quickly gets up from the ground, gritting her teeth. If she was injured badly she certainly isn't showing it. She quickly launches herself at the brute at the same time as Jack does, taking her sword and preparing to a launch a swing at his side.]

[With the distraction of her attack, Jack is able to restrain the Elite, pulling his arms into a lock behind his back.]

Run him through... but not me!

[She grips her sword tightly, as she notices him locking the solider behind his back. As soon as she comes close enough she shouts out a battlecry and slashes through the solider's chest, letting the wind sheath release as she does to inflict more damage.]

[Jack waits a moment to make sure the Elite is dead, then kicks him to the ground. Pulling out a knife, he starts to cut the wings off. He's seen some of these Elites heal as fast as he does. No point taking chances here.]

Nicely done there, kiddo.

[She steps back as Jack kicks him down and watches him cut the wings off. Well it does make sense, given that they have wings that can lead to death if too heavily damaged.

And then he has to call her a kid.]

I am no child. [Says the five foot girl huffing.] But yes, it was a good match-up. Thank you for fighting with me.

Really now?

[He stands up and looks her over, paying close attention to her eyes. His own eyes have a deep and obvious age to them, the kind a person in his mid twenties would never have.]

... no, I guess you're not. But you're right - we're a good team.

Really.

[She notices the look in his eyes. It is not uncommon from the one she sees in the Heroic Spirits. But, he doesn't exactly seem to be one. Her eyes, on the other hand, hold that same deep wisdom that someone who looks no less than 18 shouldn't have.]

It's been a pleasure, but I must leave. I have to find and check on my [friends] close companions.

Right, I'll be seeing you around, "Saber".

[He suspects something, but there's no reason to say anything about it. He smirks and heads off in the direction he was already headed before their brief team up.]
