New Species Event - Mass Interaction Log

Who: Anyone!
What: All in here
When: Today, Tomorrow, Until April 2nd
Where: Anywhere in Luceti!
Summary: People in Luceti wake up as something they weren't before. An elf, a gremlin, a vulcan, or perhaps a mermaid? Try living in someone else's shoes... if they can even wear those.
Rating: Not recommended for those with weak constitutions, raging hormones, shipping goggles, or people just too cool and attractive for this kind of thing.

No need for LJ Cut! Mass action style stuff all around town. You can use this if you don't want to make a post. Or you can make a post anyway. Have at!

[Giles closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He's gotten used to how his breathing sounds now in this body, how the air feels circulating through lungs that are a different shape and powering a different heart. But it's really just a force of habit.]

Helios?

Would you mind sitting for a while?

[If he were still a human his voice would be all but inaudible. As it is, a larger mouth combined with larger lungs means that he's easy enough to hear even when he's trying to be quiet.]
folklorist: (I don't honestly know)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-27 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Helios is a bit surprised at the request but he nods regardless. Shaking his head with a slight smile. ]

Of course not. Not at all. [ He'll find random log nearby to sit on tentatively at first but he manages to make himself comfortable enough. ]

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Giles just...scoots a little closer. This is what he does when he's upset like this - he clings.]

...I found out recently that there was someone here from Sunnydale that I never knew about.
folklorist: (Curiousity killed the cat you know?)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-28 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Never knew about? [ He looks back at Giles confused. ] No one told you they were here you mean?

[ He finds that odd, and hard to believe given how close he was to Buffy and the others from his world. ]

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Giles' claws dig into the dirt.]

No. They didn't.

He murdered Tara and was the reason Willow lost control of her powers and he worked for Twilight and they never told me. [There's a roar building up in his chest as he lists Warrens sins. The ones he was never able to stop, no matter how much he wanted to last time he was here.]
folklorist: (I'm terribly sorry)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-28 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
[ He notes the gestures it's obvious he's angry and why shouldn't he be? After what Giles just told him about this person? Yeah it'd be odd for the other not to be mad. ]

Giles...I-I'm so sorry. Maybe they...simply forgot? You know as well as I that the craziness in this place gets in the way of things a lot of the time. [ He can't help hide his obvious surprise and horror. Murderer and who was this Twilight? ]

Still it...doesn't make what they did right. I-I understand your anger keeping such things from you like that.

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Buffy didn't. [His voice is still a growl at the memory.]

Not until I explained to her why the fact that I might wind up talking to Tara's killer without knowing it was unacceptable.
folklorist: (I don't honestly know)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-28 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yes especially if this killer affected you all in such a way. I-I don't see why she wouldn't have told you sooner. Besides forgetting or--or possibly not wanting to alarm you.

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
...neither of those reasons helps at all.

But I suspect it was the second.

...I d-don't think I know her anymore, Helios.
folklorist: (Well this is certainly a mess)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-28 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Giles... [ He might subconsciously put a hand on the other's neck, shoulder area. It'd be so much easier if Giles wasn't a dragon but still he hopes the gesture is apparent. He'll blink before pulling back...did not mean to do that, whoops. ]

People change perhaps faster than we can keep up with at times. They might even do things they might not want to, to keep people they care about safe. That might even mean...withholding information from them. [ He'll look away thoughtful a slight frown on his features. ]

I can't say why and it's not very helpful--I'm sorry. The only thing I can think to do is to speak with her about it. [ He might hunch over a little. ] I-I suppose you've tried do that already though.

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Helios fight feel Giles shaking a little when he touches him. And Giles blinks when Helios moves his hand away, looks a little sadder when he does so. The gesture was very much appreciated.

Now he just feels like a ghost again.]

N-Not since...no.

...and you're describing me, I'm afraid, not Buffy.

She hasn't changed enough, and I'm the one keeping the most secrets.
folklorist: (I'm terribly sorry)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-28 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
[ He did feel it and Helios' eyes widen a little. That only makes him more concerned. He's never seen Giles shaking before it's almost...saddening. ] Giles you're...

[ Another sigh. ] Four years...a lot can happen to a person in four years. Even in one month, or one night, a person can change greatly. [ He knows all too well about keeping secrets, especially ones that can change a person. ]

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
[No, Helios, you have. Halloween. The talk in the apartment after his fight with Mirror!Helios. You just might not have noticed.]

So is three months. She's, she has changed, just...not how she should. N-Not how she will.

...but I'm a very different person than I used to be.

[He sounds completely apologetic at these words. Because they are an apology - they always have been. The reasoning behind it is very similar to what he felt when he was his self from the Sunnydale made by Anyanka's wish. Sorry I'm not the person you became friends with. Sorry I'm not the person you know. Sorry I can't ever be him again.]

Sh-She doesn't know anything about what's going to happen. And she wants to, a-and I can't tell her. [Giles tilts his head down so he can hide his eyes in his paws.]
folklorist: (Well this is certainly a mess)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-28 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ Those were different times though, different reasons--this...this wasn't the same. This was just a conversation; he wasn't expecting that to happen during something like this. ]

You mean back in your world, correct? Luceti is fickle that way--changing a person from how you might know them in your world compared to how they are here.

[ Apology? For what? It's not as if Giles could change the course of history sometimes things happen for a reason, unknown or not, it's life isn't it? ] It--it must be very hard for you Giles. I'm so sorry you have to carry all this on your own.

[ He wishes he could do something to help. ]

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods, just once.]

I have to.

[And now his voice is very quiet, very soft. Because he's trying to convince himself as much as he is Helios.]

I've hurt her before, i-in the past. But t-telling her would be worse than anything I've ever done to her.
folklorist: (I'm terribly sorry)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-28 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you really? It seems unfair to you--it is unfair. You've been through so much...it's just-- [ a sigh. ] --I wish I could do something to help. [ But he knows he can't because it's not his world, not his business. The fact that Giles has even told him this much is amazing in it's own way. He continues to listen his eyes downcast as he props his chin on one hand. ]

I'm sure you never meant to though. But...it's must very bad for you to think that.

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Over the course of their relationship, Giles has drugged, lied to, and betrayed Buffy. And that's without even considering the fact that he's often put her in additional danger above and beyond what a Slayer would normally face and that he's generally aided and abetted the transformation of a teenager into the general of a small army.]

You can't. She can't. She needs to understand that.

But she won't.

...I can't even tell her if our universe still exists, Helios.
folklorist: (I'm terribly sorry)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-29 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
How can she be expected to not try and help someone she cares for? [ A small frown. ]

If it still exists, you mean you don't... [ That's rather horrible to be here without that knowledge. ]

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
...I mean the universe was ending. We were trying to stop it.

And I don't know if we did.
folklorist: (Sometimes things don't go like we plan)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-29 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
I-I don't believe it. [ Helios might sound a bit well surprised unsuspecting too perhaps. He knew Giles' world was one of hardships too many in fact, but that was just-- ] What...what happened? Ah--no I'm sorry it's not my place to ask something like that! I-I've already bothered you far too much as it is.

[ He might get up from his position on the log looking deeply apologetic towards the other. ]

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Now that he wants to tell someone, now that he has to tell someone or go absolutely insane...

...Helios isn't going to let him?

...after Giles trusted him to say this much?

It tears at his heart when Helios gets up, resentment mixed with regret and anxiety and hopelessness, because it's too much like when Buffy walked out on him at the barracks two days ago. But just like last time, Giles doesn't get up. Unlike last time, he speaks, sounding almost panicked for a second.]

Helios, w-wait, I...

[But god, if this is making Helios this anxious, telling him why Giles doesn't know would probably seriously hurt him.]

...I'm sorry.
folklorist: (I'm terribly sorry)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-29 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ Helios will pause turning to look back at Giles. The tone of voice alone is enough to make him a bit startled. One of the people he's actually thankful for being in Luceti for what was he doing, turning his back like that? He doesn't want to burden him make him remember whatever it is that transpired in those four years, he was always like that. Perhaps he shouldn't have asked at all--and yet Giles made it clear enough that he wanted to tell him. So he'll look back and then sigh shaking his head. ] Giles you-you have nothing to apologize for.

I was simply being far too curious, it's just...it's been three months here and four years for you. [ And you've changed and Helios can see it. But he doesn't know why and it makes him worry. ] I-I was just worried. A bit silly of me, I know, I can't help myself though.

[ He shrugs giving another sadden apology ridden smile. ]

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Giles sits up straighter, looking directly at Helios again, and his claws dig anxious furrows into the dirt. He still sounds more than a little upset when he replies, although the fact that Helios isn't leaving helps.]

Helios, you are the best friend I could ever have hoped to know. And it drives me absolutely insane that you seem to forget that sometimes.

...even so, I don't want that to change. And it's frightening, because it feels as though every word I say makes things worse. And because there isn't anything you can do to help and I know you'll try anyway.

[But it isn't fair to Helios to expect him to understand why Giles is hurting and why he feels like a ghost and why he needs Helios and Frederic so badly right now if he doesn't say.]

...but I trust you.
folklorist: (I don't honestly know)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-03-29 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He knows the other is upset just from tone alone. He would apologize for that but other's words make it hard to. Best friend? It's been a long time since he's heard anyone say that to him. Besides Varron back in his world who else was there? ]

I'm sorry. I do forget don't I? I'm still not used to being one is all. Besides someone back home...I don't really have too many friends. [ Acquaintance is all the others were, which was fine, mutual relationships with most mythica families had categorized them as allies for certain, but it was only because of his job. Still Giles' words make a small smile etch itself across his face. ] I don't want it to change either, not at all. Even if we weren't best friend I'd still try to help but the fact stands that we are--and I can't help but try sometimes. [ Even if it is a fruitless endeavor that's just how he is with people. ]

But I'm glad you trust me...and I'm glad you at least told me this much. It's hard talking about things like this; I understand that much entirely.

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Relieved and reassured at Helios' words, Giles also smiles. His mouth is pretty wide on this body, which means that a look that would normally be hardly noticeable looks more like a grin. But he doesn't seem to mind very much, because that was pretty much what he needed to hear.]

I know you do. Th-That's...well, that's one of the reasons why I can trust you, Helios. You understand. Y-You've always seemed to be very good at it. Never understood how.

[But then Giles frowns again and stares back at the ground, and the torn ground and the scattered leaves, and he sighs.]

Helios, the reason...

[He tries to hurry his words along - can't hesitate, not now.]

...the reason I haven't said anything to Buffy, w-why she can't do anything to help, why I c-can't leave here and why I don't know whether or not we won that war...

...it's because I died.

[There. Out and said. And, no matter how much he suddenly wants to, Giles isn't flying off.]
