New Species Event - Mass Interaction Log

Who: Anyone!
What: All in here
When: Today, Tomorrow, Until April 2nd
Where: Anywhere in Luceti!
Summary: People in Luceti wake up as something they weren't before. An elf, a gremlin, a vulcan, or perhaps a mermaid? Try living in someone else's shoes... if they can even wear those.
Rating: Not recommended for those with weak constitutions, raging hormones, shipping goggles, or people just too cool and attractive for this kind of thing.

No need for LJ Cut! Mass action style stuff all around town. You can use this if you don't want to make a post. Or you can make a post anyway. Have at!

... I'm what? [Because, honestly, Robert isn't really registering his species much beyond the fact it's different from usual. He blinks at the expression on Not-Usual-Winry because the mun isn't sure what she is's face.

You would think giant mutant turtles are pretty normal to Robert. And they... are, actually.]

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
A - a turtle! Like Raph, and Don, and Mikey, and Leo - !

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Yes. I am. [Robert sort of shifts a little.]

Not normally, though. This is only my species for however long the Malnosso choose to make it. I must say, though, it is quite fascinating to be reptilian... and exothermic. Though I suspect I'll have to depend largely on that solar lamp. [He looks a bit sheepish at this.]

I presume you must know all the Hamatos then? Or at least some of them. [This will be awkward if Winry finds out Robert is Don's boyfriend.]

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Leonardo is the only one I haven't met in person. I guess you know them too?

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yes I do, especially Donatello. [Robert smiles, almost dreamily - for a turtle - at this.] In fact, Donatello is my partner. [He says this like it's entirely normal for a former-human-who-is-now-a-turtle to be partners with a giant mutant turtle.]

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
[And Robert's smile turns downright shy. There may even be a hint of an orange-green blush stealing over those leathery cheeks.] Yes. Romantic partner, specifically, if the terminology is not one you recognize. [He is oblivious to Winry's complete and utter confusion/discomfort.]

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
No, no I recognize it. I just didn't...

You're going to treat him well.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
[It occurs to Robert, hearing that telepathic snippet, that the villagers might not realize Don's orientation. If his own brothers didn't know about it...

Suddenly he wonders. "Especially after" what?

Still, that tone. It's a definite... forceful statement.]

I assure you, I will treat him far better than "well". It is the least he deserves, and the least I can do.

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Good. Don is a great guy, and should receive as much.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
I thoroughly agree with you on this point. [Winry has earned instant bonus points in Robert's mind, telepathic and green or not.]

Ah, my apologies for my lack of foresight... I am Professor Robert Alexander Hastings. Normally I am a homo sapiens sapiens, but for the time being I am a trachemys scripta elegans, mutatens. [Robert can't help but smile wider at that. That was how Donatello introduced himself, after all, and getting to say it himself is... almost squee-inducing. If Robert could squee, anyway.]

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You know it'd be easier if you just said human and mutant turtle.

Anyway I'm Winry Rockbell. Normally I'm human, but right now I don't know what I am.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sorry, Winry. Robert is just so much of a nerd that this is pretty much his default speech pattern.] ... I suppose I could have done so, yes.

Hrm... [Robert studies Winry intensely for a moment with his now-round-with-a-stripe-through-the-sclera eyes, blinking at her. She's nothing that he recognizes himself.]

You look very hominid still, at least... Which is strange. Perhaps you are a hominid subspecies from another multiverse?

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it matters what I am now, just that I have to deal with it.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, of course. But you are still yourself, and that is the most important thing, body or otherwise. At least, I should think so.

Having our minds manipulated is far worse than this... Though it is still barbaric of the Malnosso to do this sort of thing without any consent from us. [He sighs irritably, shaking his head.] Imbecilic excuses for scientists that they are...

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
There will always be scientists ["alchemists"] who cross the line.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
On my planet, this behaviour from scientists would be outright criminal, of the highest order. Completely detestable. [He shakes his head vigorously, his expression twisting into anger - clearly directed at the Malnosso and other such excuses for scientists.]

But I have already heard from Donatello what abominations can exist in other worlds. I must say that it is quite infuriating to hear that such pre-Terran imbecilic constructs can exist anywhere...

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I would guess most worlds are like what you've heard from Donatello.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Robert slumps.] I had... considered this possibility, but it is... depressing. Like the fact that most worlds here are so... violent.

It is like sapients find it impossible to have a war-free world. [He sighs, looking down a bit. Obviously this topic is difficult for Robert. He's seen more war, fighting and aggression in Luceti in three months than he'd ever seen before in his entire lifetime.]

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The struggle for power does seem to be a universal one.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Not entirely universal. Terra is a non-violent, pacifistic planet. [Oh Robert. He only doesn't recognize it as war because nobody gets killed directly by it.] I cannot understand what makes other planets unable to do the same.

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I'm sure plenty of people would love to avoid the violence on their home to visit yours. But that's not how it is. Once violence starts it's hard to stop.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Robert doesn't have much experience with the concept, because violence is so rare on Terra anyway.

But his face kind of falls at that.]
Do you think there is any real way to combat this, other than perhaps education? [Because education solves everything.]

sob I am a lazy person; just use your imagination to turn winry green?

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. Hate is a pretty difficult emotion to overcome. Not everyone can do it, and especially not alone.

muahaha
