Where: Dorms; location unknown.
Summary: Here is the hallway; here is your room. (Here is some additional info.) Go forth and mingle.
Rating: PG or PG-13 ish, I imagine.

Whether by their own power or by droid, your characters are arriving one by one to the dorms. Each room is specific to a single character; others can only be invited in by that character's allowance. Requested effects will already be present in the rooms. While you're here, you may want to request some last-minute supplies... this is your final chance to gather them. A final note: Shift incompatibilities will not kick in while characters are in the dorms; only once they are out in the field.

[There's a soft knocking on her door before it opens a little wider to reveal the telltale red hair of a Fabre boy. He'd been wanting to see Paprika to make sure she's okay the way she is now, and if the impending draft is bothering her at all. ... Are those cards?

He takes a few steps inside before he closes the door behind him, though he stays where he is for the time being.]

Hm?

[She stops shuffling the cards as soon as she hears Luke's voice, but didn't even seem to notice the knock. Either that or it just passed her mind.]

Hey Luke, how does it go?

As good as I can get, I guess.

[He'll head to her side now, to sit and watch the cards in her hand.]

... I don't want to go.

[For the first time she turns to face him and gives a small smile.]

I don't either. But, I don't think the lady with the eyepatch is taking no as answer.

Yeah... I don't think it's fair, either. [He looks at her, too, though he doesn't smile.] More than me, I don't want you to go. But...

...I'll be okay. [She takes one hand and tentatively places it on his shoulder, remembering not to put it on his head like before...] I appreciate your worry, but there isn't much we can do about this situation. I'll stick to base camp.

[Luke glances at her hand, and he reaches his own up, pauses hesitantly... then completes the actions, covering her hand with his own.]

I'll stick nearby, okay? I'll try my best to keep everyone at the camp safe... I'm with the offensive group, but I'll come back for all of you, okay?

Ah, visiting me like that? I feel so privileged, but really don't worry about it. You have a lot more important people to worry about, don't you. [She saw Xion's name on the list for instance.]

[That implication flies over his head, as Luke tightens his grip on her hand and leans to her just a bit, as if to emphasize his words.]

Paprika, you're important to me too! You're... [Like a mother, he was about to say, but that just makes a ball of awkward build up in his chest, so he'll try for something else.] You're one of my closest friends. I can't just leave you alone out there!

[She pauses for a moment when he speaks and then takes a quick sip, following him up.]

I don't want to be trouble. You're the one whose going to get yourself into fights, so I hope you at least try and worry about yourself first. You can't help others if you don't help yourself.

[That's... a philosophy that he's never followed. To him, everyone else was important. Everyone else's problems should be taken care of, and there's always hope for them, a silver lining in their clouds, and thus they should be cherished.

Him? Not so much. He was never supposed to be born... Why was he important?

But her words to hold some truth. If he can't protect himself, how can he do so for anyone else? So, he lets out a sigh through his nose and lets his hand slide off her shoulder.]

... Right. I know. But that doesn't mean I'm going to abandon you.

I'm not telling you to abandon me. But, there are more important people you should be careful for.

[She's going to do her best to stay behind at the camps, with the other non-combatants, and try not to get restlessness and idle curiosity overcome her. With any hopes she'll be fine back there. She hopes.]

I can only wish you luck, but if you want to talk anytime during this, or even after, you know I'll be happy to oblige.

[He looks at her for a moment before he ducks his head. Even if it's not to protect her... he'd still like to see her during the draft. Just to check up on her, at least. He might have to push down the urge to talk about the nightmares he knows will assault him every night until this is over... He might just lose his resolve if he talks them out.

Still, he smiles a little as he looks down at the floor. It might just be a bitter smile, though.]

I'll probably take you up on that.
