you're in the jungle, baby / you gonna die

Who: All draftees
What: Fighting the Third Party... and perhaps the wildlife.
When: June 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. (Characters will be pulled out at 11:59 of the 6th.)
Where: An as-yet unmapped by the Malnosso tropical rainforest.
Summary: Here are your details. Try to stay alive, won't you?
Rating: Anywhere from PG to R.

No cut for you. Most of you will know how this works by now; if you don't, follow the lead of the others, or perhaps look to the last draft's fighting post for ideas. Don't forget to use your handy dandy character tags. Go forth and conquer thine enemies!

"It's an educated guess. I can't say for sure."

[He fishes around more, focusing on digging a little deeper. There isn't much he can do about it if it's an effect given to Luke by the Malnosso, but he can at least try to keep the dreck alive by distributing the pain a bit.

...Now does he really want to do that for his stupid replica, is the question.]

"...I don't know if I can do anything. Closing the link would at least cut this pain in half."

[Digging deeper nearly makes Luke cry out again, but instead he grits his teeth and bears it. It'd be easier if he had something to bite down on, but he can't focus enough to grab anything.

The answer makes Luke's hopes fall. He can't focus like this; Even before Asch opened the link, Luke's sense were blurry and out of focus. And his senses needed to be extra aware in a place like this.]

"Okay..." [He can't protest; If Asch can't do anything, then he can't do anything. But there's a tone of dread in Luke's voice. How is he supposed to make it when he's like this?]

[...Hrngh. He's going to regret this later, isn't he?

With a grimace, Asch shifts the link just so, and the pain intensifies on Luke's side - probably to an extreme degree - for a long moment before it fades abruptly, as if cut in half. Asch inhales sharply, allowing himself to sit down, and focuses on Luke's surroundings instead of his own. It's a good thing that he's at home, where only Star is around to bother him.]

"...Replica... can you see clearly now?"

[For that moment, Luke can't bite back that scream of pain - it had never been this bad before, never, and Luke can't tell if it's Asch doing that or the shift effect - or his programming, or whatever was wrong with him, was intensifying, but -

Suddenly it isn't nearly so bad, and Luke cringes before he relaxes his features and gets himself out of the ball he had curled up into. Can he see clearly? Luke hesitates, but he slowly opens his eyes to see. It's still a little hard to focus on one spot for too long, since the constant pain in his head digs down and makes the vision at the corners of his eyes blur and only add on to the headache, but it's much better than the massive blur he saw earlier.]

"Better... yeah. What did you do?"

[Asch doesn't respond for a long moment, quietly adjusting to the sudden, shared pain. Is it going to be like this for the next few days? Ugh. Still, going quiet is just going to make Luke fret, and that would be annoying, so-]

"I just shifted your fon slots a little so they're more open to the link. Don't worry about it."

[What he doesn't know doesn't hurt him.]
fabrecation: (/Asch impression)

[... Was that even good for him, having his fon slots shifted around? Whatever, there's not so much pain now, so it must not be too awful.

Luke pushes himself up to his feet, sways and staggers a little, then focuses again, this time successfully on his surroundings. The trees above shake with soldiers heading towards him, so he withdraws his sword and sets his face in a cringe. Maybe that way he'll be able to fight off whatever's coming for him.]

"Thanks... I think I can focus now."

[Asch responds with a quiet hum of confirmation, letting himself fade into the back of Luke's mind after hearing the approaching soldiers. If Luke's going to fight in his condition, he doesn't need the distraction of a second headache right now. He'll still be there, in the back of Luke's mind, releasing the link as much as he can without breaking it off or sending the full headache back to Luke.

Hopefully it'll be enough.]
