[waiting patiently for him to hold out his canteen]

[bamfing]

[... he thinks he knows where this is going, so he removes the lid from his canteen and holds it out.]

[It's a small Douse, the kind they used to use to make puddles. It should be enough to fill his canteen with disease-free water, even if it's not all that cold.]

[bamfing]

[... wow. He jostles his canteen, impressed it's suddenly filled. She didn't even need to get the water from another source, like Katara's bending.]

I've never had magic water before.

There isn't anything special about it. ...Well. It is safer than what you would find in a river here.

[She has a source. It's her Psynergy. But since Kurt can't see it, it would look like water from nothing.]

[bamfing]

[He grins and starts to put it at his side.]

Well, it beats getting sick, so- [Suddenly he goes quiet as he hears the sound of movement beyond them.]

[She can hear it too. Both hands tighten around her staff as she looks for the source of the sound.]

[bamfing]

[Kurt will head forward first, moving silently as he moves towards the sound, while edging his way towards a tree he can hide behind to look. It sounds like not just normal human footsteps, but something four footed too.]

[her best bet right now is to follow him. She chooses a different tree, almost right next to his.]

What is it?

[bamfing]

[Even during the day it can be a bit dark with the thick canopy of leaves above them. Even so, Kurt manages to quickly scale the tree to a higher perch from which he can see. He whispers over to Mia.]

A bunch of them heading towards camp. They're following some kind of monster.

[Someone must've used Filial Magic. If they just ignore this group, they'll end up in camp.]

[Towards camp? ...Well that can't be allowed to happen.]

When you say a bunch, how many do you mean? ...We can't let them attack the camp.

[bamfing]

[He does a quick head count. He has a feeling it's not accurate, but it's hard to tell.]

About a dozen. We can go back and warn the camp.

[... as long as there's no Elite, he can maybe handle that many. But he's more concerned about Mia. He's not sure how useful her magic is against that many.]

We might not have time. They're much faster in this- [Oh wait. This one teleports. ...That memory is still pretty fresh]

[bamfing]

[Well... on one hand, he doesn't want to risk her getting hurt, but he also doesn't want to look like he's running away.]

Can you handle that many? [He doesn't want to risk her safety on his own bravado.]

I have more than enough Psynergy to fight.

[bamfing]

[... okay, he nods. If it gets to be too much, he can get them both out of here, but for now, he'll take her word on it.]

Get ready, they're coming. I'll keep them distracted, yeah? [He begins to draw his own blades. These guys have been pulling a lot of ambushes so... now it was time for Kurt to launch one of his own.]

[she nods and changes position. Some of her strongest spells can hit seven targets at once. Just a few of them should be able to incapacitate most of the group.]

[bamfing]

[Once the group starts to walk past the treeline Kurt and Mia are up against, he abruptly vanishes. It may not be easy to track what he's doing, but the sound of fighting and blows being landed are obvious. Kurt is mostly fighting with his feet and the flat ends of his blades, though he does deliver a few cuts. But mostly what he's doing is inciting a sense of panic in them. He keeps appearing, landing a blow, vanishing, and then repeating the same move with another puff of black smoke. Sometimes he'll kick a weapon out of their hands in mid air, sometimes he'll take the whole enemy and teleport them into the air, or he'll even use his tail to grab one by the leg and flip them over. Everything about what he's doing is chaotic, but it's keeping most of them from noticing Mia is even present. The moment she fires off any spells, Kurt will be quick enough to move out of the line of fire.]

[As soon as they're in sight, they'll be hit with a double round of Ice Missile - her strongest attack. Giant ice spires raining down from the 'sky' should slow them down considerably, and it won't be easy to determine where she's coming from, either.

Don't get impaled, Kurt. She doesn't have control over where the spires fall.]

[bamfing]

[Kurt bamfs around the ice, but when it gets too much, he sticks beside a tree to get out of the way of the attack. It's enough to take out many of the soldiers, but some just get lucky and others are tough enough to get back up, even after the combined beating taken from both Kurt and Mia.

... however the Shift Hunter seems to be most interested in Mia and when Kurt sees that, he's going to try and stop it from charging her with a kick to the head, but all that seems to do is slightly deter it.]

[A Glacier will follow it up, sweeping through a few of those lucky enough to avoid the initial spells. She's too focused to notice the attention of the Shift Hunter at present.]

[bamfing]

[The Shift Hunter is moments away from tackling Mia when Kurt jumps on it and teleports them away. When he reappears several feet behind, the beast tears Kurt off and begins focusing its rage on him. Forced to rely on his blades, he attempts to land a lethal blow on the creature, but it just seems to shrug the blows off.[

Kurt!

[It's unorthodox, but Mia's first instinct is to just bring the business end of her staff swishing down on the back of that thing's head.]

[bamfing]

[It's fortunate she did, because it distracts the beast and Kurt prepares to teleport away. Only... it doesn't happen. He tries again. Nothing. His eyes widen into panic.]

I... I can't teleport!

[And now the beast is coming at him again and it's taking all of his acrobatic talent to keep it off him.]

You can't?

[Even if he tried to explain, though, it's likely she wouldn't understand why. So she'll just swing at it again, once, before stepping back to try to freeze it in place as she did the 'human' soldiers]
