you're in the jungle, baby / you gonna die

Who: All draftees
What: Fighting the Third Party... and perhaps the wildlife.
When: June 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. (Characters will be pulled out at 11:59 of the 6th.)
Where: An as-yet unmapped by the Malnosso tropical rainforest.
Summary: Here are your details. Try to stay alive, won't you?
Rating: Anywhere from PG to R.

No cut for you. Most of you will know how this works by now; if you don't, follow the lead of the others, or perhaps look to the last draft's fighting post for ideas. Don't forget to use your handy dandy character tags. Go forth and conquer thine enemies!

[Mami's surprise for a moment... but only a moment.

Luckily there are plenty of enemies to be dealt with, and Mami has no shortage of bullets to meet them with. With a simple wave of her hand, multiple rifles appear in the air floating around her before unloading at enemy lines, before quickly being discarded and replaced by more.

Unlike hunting Witches, aim and precision are hardly important now. She merely needs to unload again and again to hit marks.]

[While going through the motions, Homura realized this is the first time Mami has seen her fight. Well, this Mami at least. She never had a chance to fight because Mami was so against her joining in (though Homura admitted part of that was her fault too). Though those worries are pushed aside when a small wave of incoming soldiers can be seen.

Homura immediately stops time and brings out two pipe bombs, activating them both and throwing them at the enemy lines. Once the mechanism stops, the bombs explode and take out that small wave.]

[Mami can't help but be surprised, mostly because... she has no idea what just happened. She turns to the other Puella Magi curiously, but this isn't really a time for questions.

Even as she recognizes the childishness of it, she can't deny a slight feeling of competition either. So she begins to fire all the more rapidly, materializing larger firearms from time to time to clear any oncoming foes. Her movements remain somewhat acrobatic as always, but there's a certain recklessness to it rather than the usual poise and control.

...it's a truly petty thing, but she doesn't want to appear weak in front of this other girl.]

[Homura ignores Mami's looks and continues on fighting. From time to time she sees Mami's motions as she freezes time, observing girl only using more magic than before the last freeze. She wonders why, not really thinking that Mami could be getting some competition from this. To Homura it's just business as usual and taking down as many as she can. She found little enjoyment in the murder of others, even if they were attacking them. Maybe it was just easier to think of them like Witches.

As the numbers begin to wane Homura slowly stops using her time stopping as much, letting Mami take a look at her weapon. Mainly the semi-automatic guns she's using.]

[The sudden disappearance of enemies from time to time was unusual, but Mami couldn't stop to give it much thought. Whatever power Homura was using, it was unusual... and her weapons... were those real guns?

She had known there was something different about that girl since they had first met, and seeing her in action just cemented those thoughts. At least after a while, she began to see a pattern in whatever Homura was doing, allowing her to get her own rhythm going as she continued to rip through enemy numbers.

...she'd said before that she would have kill Homura if it came to that, but now she could only wonder if that was truly possible. No, thoughts like that had no place on the battlefield, not now.]

[Slowly with their combined efforts, the wave that had come toward them began shrinking and soon the last one was down. There would be more eventually, but for now they were fine. Homura panted slowly as she lowered her gun and flipped a part of her hair tiredly over her shoulder.]

Are you alright?

[identity profile] mamiries.livejournal.com 2011-06-06 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[She takes a moment to catch her breath, clearly winded. She'd like to reply that she's fine, but her current state speaks for itself. Using that much magic has taken its toll, much to her embarrassment. But she finally straightens herself out after leaning on her knees for a few seconds, before nodding.]

I'll be fine. [...she pauses, glancing at the other girl curiously.] What about you? ...just what were you doing?

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-06 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
...What do you think I was doing, Tomoe Mami? I was using my magic.

[identity profile] mamiries.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
I know that. [she frowns, for a second.] But that wasn't like any other magic I've seen before.

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
All Puella Magi have different magic to them. You cannot do what I do and I cannot do what you do. That is simply all there is to it.

[identity profile] mamiries.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
You're avoiding my question. [not that she really blames her.]

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
There is no question to avoid. Magic is magic.

[identity profile] mamiries.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
You just said it yourself, didn't you? "All Puella Magi have different magic to them". So then what is yours?

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Its called "none of your business" magic.]

...What do you think it is?

[identity profile] mamiries.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps I'm merely being paranoid but...

[ s m i l e ] Every now and then, it seemed like time itself was stopping.

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that so. I wonder.

[She leaves Mami with those words, as in the next moment she triggers the mechanism and begins to leave. Not for base camp, but deeper into the battleground. She wouldn't stop. This body was engineered to fight off large enemies and even stronger ones than the Third Party grunts. Even if it got hurt she could heal it with magic easily and barely feel a thing. She wouldn't let it go to waste. People that couldn't fight shouldn't have to, so Homura would fight in their place.]

[identity profile] mamiries.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Once she can move again, Homura is already gone. Though Mami isn't particularly surprised or perturbed by the disappearance. If anything...]

I suppose that's my answer.
