No cut for you. Most of you will know how this works by now; if you don't, follow the lead of the others, or perhaps look to the last draft's fighting post for ideas. Don't forget to use your handy dandy character tags. Go forth and conquer thine enemies!

That's fine. [That's self-defense.] But did you have to set these trees on fire?

And if you're gonna be so loud, more are gonna keep comin'.

[Not answering to that. Who cares about the trees?]

Hn. Attacking was still their own choice. [After a certain amount of bodies had piled around him, these bird type people should have been able to figure out what they were getting themselves into by attacking.]

You could've been quieter. [And Naruto will push that tree matter in a minute or two. But right now, he'd rather keep to Sasuke's current topic of choice. If only because he didn't want to accidentally piss him off and provoke him.]

Che. I have no such fucking obligation. So what if they heard me? That could have saved them, but they still chose to come over here, didn't they.

With that kinda attitude, you're gonna bite off more than you can chew and get yourself killed!

[He will glare at you for that, Naruto. Why you question his ability, man? Clearly there isn't enough dangers in all of this forest to bite down on for the mighty Sasuke to not be able to chew it. Seriously.

And then there's the part where you're insinuating that you were worried about him, not the poor, defenseless Third Party members. But he will be doing his best to consider that as little as possible. God forbid he would remember that they used to be friends, amirite.]

I've barely warmed up.

[Sasuke, sometimes Naruto just wants to punch you. But he's not gonna handle things that way with Sasuke anymore. He'll just talk it out for now.]

You don't know what kinda enemies we're fighting out here! They're not just shinobi like back home, Sasuke!

[So, in essence, Naruto is calling Sasuke weak, and a blundering idiot. That's just about how much he has patience for right now. He's been here for two days, like hell he doesn't know what he is up against. He turns to leave in the opposite direction. Yes, through the burning trees.]

Just fuck off, Naruto.

I'm just looking out for you! [Yeah, he said it. He won't fuck off, but that urge to just smack Sasuke in the face is rising, despite all knowledge to not do that. He's being so difficult.]

I don't need a babysitter. Make yourself useful somewhere instead, with that new power of yours.

[Sasuke throws him a glance over his shoulder as he begins to walk, probably intending to make sure Naruto wasn't going to follow, but instead stops in his tracks. He turns, one hand moving to his sword.]

Incoming.

[It's said calmly, he almost sounds bored. Sasuke doesn't know that Naruto would already be aware of the Elite because of his sage mode, or he wouldn't have bothered to warn him. But even though she was a way away still, she had definitely spotted them, and she was advancing.

The question is, do you wait and let Sasuke have at her, or do you take her on yourself?]

[Okay. He'll make himself useful. And with that Elite on its way, he'll make himself useful right here. Not even waiting for Sasuke to try and finish his warning, Naruto will be bolting past him in an attempt to head off that Elite.

If anything, he'll be sparing the Elite a death from Sasuke, if possible.]

[He's not about to lose to you. Shunshin to catch up, then he aims at getting behind the Elite, and surround her. Because he isn't here to steal your thunder either, just back you up. Besides, if he keeps up, he might get a better look at that sage thing.]

[Naruto isn't totally concerned about getting Sasuke's back-up. In fact, he would enjoy it -- it's been so long since they've last teamed up on a common enemy. It's a nice change. All Naruto wants is that the Elite somehow survives.

So while on his side of surrounding that Elite, Naruto just readies himself into a hand-to-hand stance instead of pulling out any weapon. He's keeping an eye on their enemy, but most of his attention is on Sasuke. Just in case.]

[It was obvious she was an Elite just from her fast reactions. As she draws her sword at Naruto, Sasuke tries to grab her wrist from behind and make her drop her weapon, but instead finds his reach blocked by the spear she was wielding in her other hand. If he hadn't parried with his own sword in turn, his hand would have been pierced through. As it is, there is a gash oozing blood between his thumb and index finger.

He glares, eyebrows knitted. Like the wound wasn't enough to piss him off; she is still turned towards Naruto, not Sasuke. She had barely bothered to spare him a glance even when she had parried his hand. And in the few second that this was happening, Sasuke notices that Naruto is hesitating to attack for some reason. What's he doing? Sasuke looks right at him over her shoulder. He had wanted to see him fight, but if he was going to slack off, Sasuke wouldn't have much patience.] Too slow. [And he charges a chidori with his wounded hand, aiming for one of her armored wings, just about when she decides to charge Naruto in front of her.]

[He aims to kill her with that attack, and she's fixated on himself. There's only one way he could possible manage to save her life and manage to also help in defeating her. And that's to get her out of the way of Sasuke's attack, in any way possible. Since she was already on her way towards Naruto, he readied himself and began to run forward, aiming to meet her before Sasuke catches her from behind.

And since he was already in Sage Mode, he knew that his taijutsu was fierce and able to react well in situation such as this. As he goes to meet her, he moves in a way to keep any attacks from her at a minimum. And since his attacks don't have to hit to actually connect thanks to his chakra, he's going to be throwing a wild back hand at her so that she'd go flying off to the side -- and away from that chidori.

Which would leave Naruto in the way.]

[It's lucky that Sasuke has the sharingan, it would have been a close enough call without the prediction of movements it provides him with.

For a split second his eyes widen in alarm, then they narrow in annoyance and determination. He forces the chidori to dissolve, and digs his heel in the ground to slow down and avoid crashing into Naruto. He stumbles just slightly as he stops, but quickly finds his balance again. The palm of his hand, still stretched out even though chidori was gone, had landed on Naruto's chest. He scowls at Naruto, straightens his back a bit, and lets his arm fall to his side. The wound on his hand had left a blood stain on Naruto's shirt.]

What the hell are you doing? Do you have a death wish? Dobe!

[His voice is more angry than indifferent for the first time today. You may have worried him for a second there.

He is completely ignoring the Elite, and whatever has happened to her, in favor of staring down Naruto, and will continue to do so until she decides to attack again.]

I had to make sure you weren't gonna land a killing blow. [Where ever that damn Elite is. Naruto isn't concerned, just like Sasuke is focusing on staring down Naruto. He's returning the favor, except that his stare is filled with relief. He managed to save her.

And not die in the process. Though, he is slightly concerned with the bloodstain left on his jacket, as evidenced by him breaking his stare to look down at it. Sasuke was wounded?]

Whose side are you on, moron?

[The gash is nothing some antiseptic and a couple of stitches won't fix. Luckily it's his left hand, so he can still hold his sword. He is right now pretending he is not in pain, and glaring at Naruto for being naive.]

[Naruto just scratches the back of his head, putting on a little grin.]

I'm on ours! I just don't wanna kill people if I don't have to! [Do you see, Sasuke? How much Naruto has matured? Or become more of a dumbass. No one knows how you look at these things, anyway.]

[After Naruto just jumped in front of his chidori on purpose, Sasuke is more inclined to call him a dumbass, to be honest.] I noticed as much, that's why I was doing it for you. That wasn't avoiding to kill her, Naruto, that was risking your life for an enemy! She's out to--

[He turns on the spot to point at her, and... She's gone. Shit. He looks around, but sees nothing. A shifting ability? He had seen a lot of demonstrations of shifting by now, but didn't know much about the actual limits to it. As in, was it possible to make living things invisible? Had she teleported? He couldn't sense her, but maybe that was part of the trick. Had she fled, or was she hiding and looking for openings?]

... Che. [He blames you, Naruto.]

[Yeah, Naruto noticed that she's missing. He's not going to say anything about that. But his guard is definitely up. His eyes, however, aren't being taken off of Sasuke for the time being.]

If you'd just not try killin' 'em, that wouldn't have happened.

You need to look up the definition of war. Why are you even here if you're just going to let everyone run away from you? She is just going to find someone else to attack, and in difference from you, she's gonna aim to kill.

[Besides, he had only been aiming for one of her wings. She would have lived, in all likelihood. It couldn't be said he was particularly careful not to kill his enemies, there is too much hate and frustration in his system right now, but not all of his principles have died just yet. Not that he sees much reason to discuss his morals and intentions.]

[Naruto's expression darkens. If only these Elites weren't so quick.]

I know that. I'm not gonna let her kill anyone either. [Yeah. He's gonna try to stop as much killing as possible on both sides. That's what he's turned into.]

[He is quiet for a stretching moment. There was a time when stopping killings was going to be his purpose too, when he had aimed to protest Itachi's actions in a quite different way from what he had since become. Naruto's presence reminds him of it further, and Sasuke retreats inwards, shuts himself off in a kind of self defense.

When he finally answers, his voice is vaguely questioning, but otherwise very flat and emotionless.]

So you're playing god now? Hokage isn't enough anymore?

[Typical of Sasuke. Naruto shakes his head.]

I don't even think I can be Hokage if I can't stop you from doing terrible things. [...] No, I'm not tryin' to be god. I'm just trying to do what's right.

[To abandon the cycle of hatred. A fool's errand in anyone else's eyes, probably. Especially someone like Sasuke, right?]
