[ he gives Buffy a look before straightening up and walking away from her cot over to the supplies. ]

[ it's a look that she cherishes in spite of all its prickliness. buffy sinks back on the cot and stifles a yawn and tries to forget all about the fact that she has places to be and enemies to take down.

while waiting for bones to return, she tentatively touches the purple orchid left in her hair by the pirate who had deposited her at the camp. guilty, again, that she's taking such refuge in this draft when it is clearly going to be a difficult time for most of them. ]

[ McCoy grunts and tosses the water canister her way as he strides back over to where she is. sure, it's not the most chivalrous thing to do, but he wants to test the slayer's reflexes and see whether she's been afflicted with anything else in this goddamn rainforest. ]

[ tired? yes. prone to random napping? double yes. however, her reflexes are still relatively sharp and she snatches the canister one-handedly out of the air, unscrewing its cap with the other. ]

[ "atta girl" springs to mind, but McCoy knows how much she hates that term of endearment and he bites on his tongue and cracks a grin instead. ]

[ which leaves her grinning back at him -- a little lost as to why they were grinning but rather glad to be grinning all the same. she pulls her feet up onto the cot and occupies only a corner, patting the space next to her. ]

Summers, I'm a doctor. I don't have time to be sitting around on my ass. [ McCoy gripes at the girl before he sits down next to her. he's a little bipolar sometimes. besides, Batman is skulking around somewhere and Sparrow swore an oath to guard the camp, so this might be the only time he can enjoy the deep breath before the plunge. ]

[ she takes a deep drink from the canister and feels ultimately glad to have been talked into this course of action. she hasn't had anything to drink since before they'd landed in this jungle. ]
