[Rogue had been hoping to avoid hostiles. Ridiculous, she knows, but sometimes a girl can't help but hope.

All the same, her knife goes quietly back in its sheath before she draws out the hard batons she's been practicing with. The gun at her side, experience informs her, is a bad idea, a last resort if she wants to avoid announcing to the entire world where they are.]

[bamfing]

[He glances warily at his sister and thinks briefly, maybe they'll get off lucky. But they don't. All at once, several of them come zipping down to the ground, some choosing immediate targets of the two mutants, others coming to land as they wait their turn. Kurt's response is an immediate teleport out of the way, but rather than launch his attack, he positions himself on a branch on top of them and turns his sights to Rogue first. Just because she can potentially be the most powerful on the team doesn't make her invulnerable. He's making ready to jump into to help her if she's in danger.]

[Two on the ground - four in the trees - three more in the sky. Nine in total.

Rogue's immediate impulse is to go charging at the two she can reach - but this leaves her back exposed to the ones on the trees. She knows it. But she also knows it's not as if Kurt ran away when he teleported.

She can do bait real well.]

[bamfing]

[The nearest one that comes to Rogue gets tackled from above, without so much as a teleport this time. He glances back at Rogue and gives a nod. This one on the ground is for her to zap.

He then goes for the one in the trees, bamfing up to meet them, and finding himself struggling to ward them off in a straight sword fight. Fortunately Kurt doesn't play fair and makes up for his amateurish skills by 'porting behind his current foe and slashing him along the back.]

[Rogue disentangles herself from her current opponent, flipping backwards. They don't have long but a second is all they need - for her to take off her glove and get whatever she can from the enemy.

...but there's no rush of a psyche. Rogue almost holds on too long--]

Shit!

[But she reaches up, grabs hold of the handle of the axe heading towards her head, matching strength for strength before tugging the enemy forward. Time for another touch.]

[bamfing]

[Kurt is only able to spare a glance her way long enough to see that she's managed to zap one of them. Okay, good, she should be fine. He turns his attention back to his foe, only to nearly dodge getting a sword in the face. He quickly bamfs behind the enemy to attack, but somehow he seems to expect it and Kurt gets an elbow in the gut instead.

He is sent flying towards the ground and is able to save himself a more deadly fall by 'porting before he hits the ground, slowing down his velocity just a bit by teleporting higher off the ground, before landing on his feet. The soldier - or Elite, follows him to the ground and lands in front of him, quickly another slash at Kurt which is only able to quickly parry off with his blade before rolling out of the way.]
