Haruhi Suzumiya ([personal profile] godbent) wrote in [community profile] lucetilogs2011-07-07 04:31 pm

Just one night

Who: Everyone! Presented by the SOS-Brigade!
What: People enjoying a good time
When: Sunset onwards (so 9:30ish PM plus)
Where: The main square of the village
Summary: It's Tanabtata, and Haruhi likes Tanabata. As a result, there will be fireworks and a little food and wishes to be made.
Rating: PGish I assume unless people do things in public??

[So it's Tanabata - Haruhi loves this holiday (which other people like too, of course) and as a result tends to force a celebration for it on everyone else. That's why the Brigade has set up lanterns, a few food stalls, a small tea stall and other such stuff outside of the Brigade HQ tonight. She also has kimonos - she'll dress up the Brigade personally and she is dressed in a flashy one as well (and she'll dress up other people who look listless!) as well as bamboo shoots put there to write wishes on.

...There will be fireworks later tonight, but it's a small get together. Just some dishes made by her and some other members of the Brigade and tea. Lanterns to set a mood, and linger. Feel free to get involved however you well please

Mass interaction log of course]

[Patting on the back to help you cough up that tea, Helios.] S-Sorry. Didn't mean to startle you.

[Only when he's sure that Helios is capable of breathing will he add:]

If they will, now is supposed to be the night for it.

[Horrible? Giles is looking forward to feeling something of the utter contentment he felt watching the fireworks with his family during the last experiment.]

Of course. I have a decent enough spot laid claim to, if you'll be staying.
folklorist: (Peaceful: You wanted to talk?)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-08 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
I-It's fine. I-I should been paying more attention. I was just...admiring the good work they did on all this. [ He'll motion to everything in front of him before looking over at Giles. ]

It's really amazing what they managed to do. [ Helios gives Giles an amused sort of glance. ]

Well with an offer like that how can I refuse? I've only been to Tanabata myself a few times and every time it's been different. I don't see why I should stop the tradition now.
consultmybooks: (Hold On)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-08 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
They did amazing work. In quite a short time, as well - was any of this here yesterday? I must say, for all of her idiosyncracies, Haruhi certainly has some capability as a leader.

[Giles returns that amused sort of glance.]

With an offer like that, I didn't think you could. Come on, then. [If Helios has no objections, Giles will start leading the way back into the crowd.] I've never been to Tanabata, I'm afraid, although I am familiar with the stories and meanings behind it.
folklorist: (I'm just your average headmaster yep)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-08 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
They certainly did. It's amazing how well they stuck to the original layout of the festival.

Exploiting weaknesses again, Giles. [ But it's good exploitation, Helios can get behind this certainly as evident from his teasing tone. And he will indeed follow with no objections whatsoever. ]

Perhaps when you stop by my world you can see it for yourself. It's rather good knowing Phoenixes and Kappa families. You almost always get the best seats for the firework viewings.
consultmybooks: (Giles is Amused)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-08 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You should stop making them so easy to exploit, then. And you should learn to at least look as though you're actually complaining about it.

[Giles was pretty sure you would, Helios. And hey, take heart - he's teasing right back and he looks to be in quite a good, relaxed mood.]

When I stop by your world? I would love to see for myself. You'll have to be sure and introduce me to those families. I promise to be on my best behavior.
folklorist: (Sneaky: I do like the sound of that)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-08 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't exactly help that. Well I could, but it'd be rather boring. [ Pouting at that Giles. ] Not that exploiting a good friend should be fun for anyone, but I suppose I can let you off once in awhile.

[ This is good. It's been far too long since they've both been in a relaxed, good mood. It's definately better than the previous moods they have been in. ]

I'd love for you to meet them! And I'm sure you will be.

[ Just an amused chuckle. The thought of reprimanding Giles to be on his best behavior is certainly entertaining. ]

They're rather nice, very open to outsiders. Well...outsiders with a bit of a connection to me. [ Helios will smirk. ] You'll get to see all sorts of things I imagine. Gods, angels, dragons.

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-08 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Giles would be on his best behavior. You know he would, Helios, if only for you.]

Well, I think it can be safely said that I have "a bit of a connection" to you. I think I've mentioned that we did have the one dragon back home, but gods and angels...concrete evidence for their existence has never surfaced, not even in the oldest of the Watcher's diaries.

Or if it did, it never reached the Council. Or if it reached the Council, it never reached me.

Any or all of the above was possible, I suppose. We had the Powers that Be, but they...really aren't what you'd expect.
folklorist: (Ever so curious)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-09 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ Oh Helios knows this. Not that he expected anything less. ]

Mm they're not ones to surface in the midst of humans, naturally. Keeping the naturally order of things in check and all that. But the gods of my world simply...just, live among humans at times. Not all of them, naturally, but some do visit every once in awhile.

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-09 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Like one E-Mun Ra?

...does that really work? Gods play games with the fates of men, and all that. Shouldn't think it works as well if they're on the board.
folklorist: (Ever so curious)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-10 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ A theatrical sigh comes from Helios. ] Yes. Like Ra.

You'd be surprised what the gods can do. Being on the board for them is nothing, really. Not when they can instantaneously take themselves off it. As for being on the board giving them a more...humanistic view point, that, that is another matter entirely.

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-10 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Personally, I prefer them off of it.

[Having reached a spot on the edge of the festival grounds itself, where other villagers are nevertheless probably gathering in anticipations, Giles indicates for Helios to sit.]

...so. We're finally into a New Feather cycle, then.
folklorist: (Ever so curious)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-10 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Well it's as much our planet as it is theirs...when you think about it.

[ Helios will eye their surroundings nodding as he takes that seat. ]

Yes it seems like we haven't gotten as many so far though. But the time of arrival for each person is different.
consultmybooks: (Holding it Together)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-11 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
...we did get someone from home.

We lost Andrew and Jonathon together, but...we did get someone from home.

[Giles is suddenly very deliberately looking out across the festival. Very deliberately not at Helios.]
folklorist: (Well this is certainly a mess)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-11 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
[ Helios sees that very apparent display, Giles. He is suddenly a bit concerned and mildly curious. But his gaze is straight at his friend still. Green eyes never leaving. ] Giles...?

Who was it? Who did they bring from home? Ah! That, that's if you want to talk about it.
consultmybooks: (Lost)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-11 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Giles stares down at the ground, a hand going to draw absent little shapes and patterns.]

You...might have heard his arrival? He did kick up a bit of a fuss.

...a vampire. By the name of "Angel".
folklorist: (Never seen anything like it)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-12 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
A...vampire. [ he's only Oh! You mean...that was Angel. I spoke to him when he arrived, yes. We never got to introducing ourselves.

[ But something still isn't right. Helios might have a vague notion of what's troubling Giles but it's vague and he can't jump to conclusions just yet. ] He doesn't...seem like the vampires you usually mention though.
consultmybooks: (Lecture Mode)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-12 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. I mean Angel.

...I don't know why, but he...isn't. Or so Buffy tells me. By rights, he should be - he's a vampire from home, to the bone.

[Something still isn't right, no. Giles...isn't going to get to it. Not yet.]

...what did you think of him?
folklorist: (Pacing)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-12 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
That's strange. There isn't something...that can make vampires different as opposed to the ones you encounter? Some sort of spell or perhaps another mythological being.

[ Pause. ]

He...he didn't seem too terribly happy about this whole thing. Or, well, happy in general.
consultmybooks: (Lost)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-12 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
W-We aren't...we aren't any h-happier about the whole thing than he is. Buffy having, having just w-worked things out with Jack, and I...

[Giles takes a deep breath, his voice and his body just...shuddering for a second. When he speaks, his voice is soft and far away.]

...Helios?
folklorist: (These past sins are mine to bare alone)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-12 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
[ Something is definately wrong. And when Helios speaks his voice is concerned but patient and willing to listen. They've been down this road before and Helios is afraid of what exactly the respond is going to be. The last time he saw the other acting like this it was to tell him about his death. ]

Giles...what, what's wrong? Something happened, didn't it?
consultmybooks: (Lost)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-12 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
...Angel...is the one who killed me.

[Out. Said. And although his voice is barely above a whisper, there's a flat, sharp edge to it. A note of finality. And, buried deep, a hint of an accusation. He knows it's not fair. That doesn't help.]
folklorist: (I'm terribly sorry)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-12 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
God Giles. I[ He doesn't know what to say. What can one say? Having your murderer being in the same place as you with only a few people knowing... ] You...you haven't told Buffy, have you? I keep wondering why they keep doing things like this to us. It's not...fair.
consultmybooks: (Empty)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-12 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Buffy doesn't even know that I've died, Helios, let alone who was responsible. And Angel...unless he is a truly extraordinary actor, I don't think he's even reached the point in time where I've died.

What could I say?

[Hopeless. Helpless. Dead. A hug would be appreciated, Helios.]
folklorist: (I don't honestly know)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-07-12 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ A wince. He figured as much. Helios isn't sure why he thought Giles might divulge that to her. But what could he do? Having to go day to day with this knowledge...it's not right and yet with the way Luceti works, it's always a possibility. ] I-I don't know.

[ And a hug he shall receive. It's less uncertain and tentative than the few before it. He's at least gotten used to hugging the other. ] I'm so sorry Giles.

[ Sorry because he can't do much in these regards besides moral support and if needed magical too. Sorry because Angel actually doesn't seem all that bad and Helios actually wanted to get to know him a bit more. ]
consultmybooks: (Holding it Together)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-07-12 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Giles hugs Helios back and just...says and does nothing for several seconds. Just breathes, and clings, letting himself feel grateful for the fact that he can cling. He focuses on the now familiar chill of Helios' body, and tries not to break down and cry in frustration and misery.

His entire body is still shaking very slightly when he finally does pull away. It's most noticeable in his hands, which Giles clenches tightly in the dirt.]

...thank you.
