Summary: It's Tanabtata, and Haruhi likes Tanabata. As a result, there will be fireworks and a little food and wishes to be made.

[So it's Tanabata - Haruhi loves this holiday (which other people like too, of course) and as a result tends to force a celebration for it on everyone else. That's why the Brigade has set up lanterns, a few food stalls, a small tea stall and other such stuff outside of the Brigade HQ tonight. She also has kimonos - she'll dress up the Brigade personally and she is dressed in a flashy one as well (and she'll dress up other people who look listless!) as well as bamboo shoots put there to write wishes on.

...There will be fireworks later tonight, but it's a small get together. Just some dishes made by her and some other members of the Brigade and tea. Lanterns to set a mood, and linger. Feel free to get involved however you well please

[Giles will be just...sitting off to the side and out of the way for most of the night.

The first thing he does when he notices the setup is take a bamboo shoot to write a wish on.

Other than that? He'll be around, writing in his notebook by the light of a lantern, and waiting for the fireworks. He might approach people he knows, and he'll certainly be making trips to the tea stall and food stalls, but otherwise Giles seems a bit subdued tonight.

[It's been a while since Touya has gone to a festival. He did arrive sometime in November after all, and while there was cherry blossom viewing, festivals were sorely lacking.]

[But, not everyone was Japanese, and there had been plenty of other things to worry about. After he and Yuki and Yue were kidnapped for experiments though, he realized that he could use some fun that wasn't somehow tainted.]

[He wasn't expecting someone to actually throw a festival he was familiar with, though. Touya wanders over, recognizing the food stalls and lanterns first. Wow... quite a set-up.]

[With the heat wave that's been going on the last two days, Leon was somewhat inspired to bring out Rena's carrot juice recipe and make something for the celebration. ...He also left the extra stuff at home so he'd have more for later.

So he'll be at one of the food stalls for his obligatory shift, pouring drinks and making sure the there's enough food to be grabbed by passersby. While being dressed up to Haruhi's standards, of course.]

[Nill is fascinated by all of this. She saw most of this stuff going up earlier in the day, so even though it's dark out she has to go out and see what's going on. Haine would follow her anyway, so she would definitely be safe even if it was nighttime.]

[Of course it wasn't all lit-up and pretty when she first came by on her grocery-run that afternoon. She rearranges her scarf briefly, to cover her healing stitches, and begins exploring this new, exciting-looking experience.]

[It's been a while since Nill seemed excited about something. And though it's now where he'd prefer to spend his evening, he isn't about to ruin her fun. Of course, after the last scare, he isn't about to let her stray too far from his sight either. There's plenty to look at anyway, and if a night of playing dress up and watching fireworks will help, maybe it's not so bad. They've only seen fireworks before in movies anyway. Explosions don't really count.]

[ Helios is just going to be off to the side watching the festivities and sipping on some of the provided tea. He always was a big fan of Tanabata having seen it multiple times thanks to knowing various myths living in Japan; he's had some rather interesting experiences with the holiday to say the least.

So to have something like the festival going on here was a nice way to ease back into normalcy. It's been a rather trying time this last month or so. What better way to enjoy the time here than to celebrate such a popular and inspirational holiday. ]

[ anne shirley has allowed haruhi to dress her in a yukata (http://www.ceskay.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/yukata.jpg). she takes to the outfit like a duck to water -- though perhaps she is trying overly hard to be graceful and elegant, gliding about the festival with a large, enchanted grin on her face. her red hair -- such a lifelong sorrow -- is piled into a tidy little bun; however, her wanderings and energetic movements have freed a handful of strands.

she does dip into a slightly more solemn mood when she scribbles down a wish, but will otherwise be available for imaginative shenanigans at your convenience. ]

[Ginia walks slowly through the newly decorated village, taking in all the new sights and sounds. She's heard and read about Tanabata before, but this is her first time at a Tanabata festival and thus she's quite excited.

And dango and taiyaki? With the sweet-tooth she has, she's definitely getting some of those.]

[Festivals are Minato's thing, even if it may not seem like it from the casual way he's approaching this one: wandering around, quietly lurking and grabbing large quantities of food from the booths. [Daisy attempts to let go of the memories of yesterday night.

She had coped with traumatic incidents better than what could have been. Out of everyone that got to see their families again after her uprising, she was the only person to have remained fit for duty. Joseph had been captured before their plan went though; Ralph had been broken, and was just willing to be accepted by a family. Any family.

The rest commited suicide.

It is why she is outside. She needs to keep herself distracted. This time, if she returns to her job, or hides herself in the Battle Dome, her condition would worsen. Whatever injuries she has, psychological and otherwise, she had been trained to keep them hidden. And she would.




Despite knowing there was a sizeable japanese population in Luceti, seeing what Tanabata is for the first time surprises the Spartan. She did not expect the spectacle of lights and stands that the town had been given, so despite being in her classic red jumpsuit, Daisy walks around the streets in curiosity, looking at everything.

She had never seen anything like this before. Perhaps she did. But like many other things, she does not know where to begin.]

But he did his best to drag his three female housemates along with him, so with any luck, all of them are present as well. But after all that work setting up, he's just kind of chilling by the food, experimenting with what's to be had from Japanese food.]

[After hearing Bern's explanation of the holiday (and remembering his experiences last year), Richard can't help but feel a twinge of bittersweet nostalgia. Wishes, hm? He isn't sure he still believes in that sort of thing, but if there's even the smallest chance of it coming true...

[Regal can't claim to have much knowledge of Tanabata at all beyond what he's heard and read. Still, the idea of a festival is an appealing one, especially after everything that has happened lately-- he's certainly not about to turn down the chance to relax. In fact, he's even gotten all dressed up for the occasion, in a Mizuho-style outfit that seems to be similar to those traditional Japanese outfits he's read about.
