LET'S. GET. GARDENIIIING.

Who: Everyone!
What: Gardening!
When: Sunday 14th August, all day
Where: Outside the Welcome Centre
Summary: Finally, the time has come to get Luceti's memory garden on the road.
Rating: ...I sincerely hope this won't go above a PG rating.

Early on Sunday morning, Link can be found outside the Welcome Centre - gathering seedlings and seed packets, setting aside a willow sapling, laying out gardening tools. When it's still fairly early by the standards of most people, especially for a Sunday morning in summer, the following message will go out over the journals:

"Hi, everyone! D'you remember the garden I talked about earlier? Well, all the beds have been dug and I've got lots of plants, so come over to the Welcome Centre today and plant something for your friends that have gone home!"

If anyone heads on over, they'll find Link sitting back and relaxing, keeping an eye on the piles of gardening implements, small pots of seedlings and packets of seeds and a collection of bulbs, and a large sheet of paper and bundle of pencils. Across the top of the paper, the words, 'Leave a message for friends!' is written, and Link has already written the first message - 'Hi Vivi, I hope you like the gardens! Love Link'.

There will be snack runs over the course of the day. And if he can convince certain people, live music. Remembering friends, being outside on a sunny day (refreshing after yesterday's storm!), nice food, and music - what could be better?

((OOC: Forward-dated to Sunday. Open to everyone, mingle away! If anyone has questions or needs help or wants to know WTF is going on, Link will be on hand for the whole day to keep an eye on things.))

She thinks for a bit. "Harry went home. I wonder if I should plant some special flowers for him."

She hadn't known him as well as some of her other friends, but he was the first that she knew to leave. A long time ago, Walter had left, but he was back now, so it was all right.

She looks back to Giles. "Are you planting any other special flowers?"

"That's what the garden is for. Planting flowers for those people we know who have gone home."

He hasn't figured out what would be good flowers for Xander. Something tough. Something that would survive in the willow's shade.

"...s-so, um, yes. I am planting a few more."
lostinmyway: (This is nice.)

Grune's connection to the garden is thanks to the people who are still in Luceti--especially Link. He was the one who had asked her to help, after all. Planting flowers for people who had left, as opposed to making it beautiful for everyone who's still here, isn't an idea that comes naturally to Grune.

"What kinds of flowers are you going to plant?"
consultmybooks: (Neither amused nor impressed)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-08-12 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm not sure. I don't know much about flowers. Link seems to have a decent idea, though, as does Robert. Probably be relying a lot on them today."
lostinmyway: (This is nice.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-13 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, Link knows a lot about flowers, doesn't he?" He had told her some nice stories about the different flowers from his world. "I could help, too."
consultmybooks: (I have opinions)

"I would appreciate that very much, Grune. You can, um, y-you can help me pick out something they'd like."

The hole looks to be deep enough, and he tells her this. "I think we can stop digging now."
lostinmyway: (This is nice.)

"All right." She sets aside her spade and looks around for the willow seedling.

The willow seedling is right by Giles - he picks it up and places it carefully in the hole. It's a little deep, but otherwise quite a suitable hole.

"...and, um, now we fill it in, yes?"
lostinmyway: (Tender.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-13 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, that's right. We have to tuck her in so she's nice and cozy."

She uses her hands to start scooping dirt back into the hole, making sure not to pack it in too tightly.

Grune will also probably get record use for this icon.

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-08-13 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"...of course. After all, she'll hopefully be here for quite a while."

Giles does the same, leaving the spade where it sits. When in Rome, do as the amnesiac, good hearted gardeners do.
lostinmyway: (Tender.)

Hey, there are a lot worse icons to see regularly.

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-13 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then it's important for her to be happy here."

Once the whole is filled, Grune gets up to retrieve a watering can. "Now we should give her a little drink."

It's the "eye contact is an issue" icon.

Giles finds himself reaching for the can. "D-Do you mind if I do it?"
lostinmyway: (Tender.)

As long as it's not "Bitchface." Or "Vampire." :P

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-13 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
She willingly lets him take it. "Oh, no, not at all. Here you go!"
consultmybooks: (Default)

The "bitchface" was the only tag I could think of for that face. And vampire almost never gets play

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-08-13 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Giles takes it with a grateful nod. "Thank you."

He looks inside, just to check that there is actually water in there. Finding that there is indeed some left, he very carefully tips the can so that it patters onto the leaves of the willow sapling. Once he's satisfied, Giles simply watches the water soak into the dirt for a few seconds before getting back to his feet and dusting himself off.

"Now what?"
lostinmyway: (This is nice.)

It works seriously well. XD And I would hope not!

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-13 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Grune had been standing quietly beside Giles, watching him care for the little willow sapling. Once he's standing up again, she suggests, "Would you like to get a little snack?"
consultmybooks: (At Peace)

It is truly the only suitable tag. And no, he's only been vamped once. For the moment.

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-08-13 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's right, I'd forgotten there was food." Taking her hand, Giles starts to lead her back towards the general gardening party. "Link really did think of everything."
lostinmyway: (Oh my isn't this lovely?)

If it ever happened again, Grune would be so doomed.

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-14 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
She always loves it when Giles takes her hand. It makes her feel extra close to him. There's just something so comfortable about being with a very good friend like this.

She laces their fingers together and says, "Yes, he did a very good job. Everyone looks like they're having so much fun."
consultmybooks: (Giles in his natural habitat)

I...yeah, I'm not sure I could play that out. He might not eat her, but it would still be bad.

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-08-14 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
"I agree. Everyone always seems to do well when they have something besides an experiment to focus on. I certainly do. It at least makes life a little less routine."
lostinmyway: (This is nice.)

Possibly the worst part would be that Grune would forgive him, instantly and completely.

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-14 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
"And it's good when everyone can work together and help each other out." That's even more fun than planting flowers.
consultmybooks: (Attentive)

That would indeed make it x10000000 times worse

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-08-14 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Luceti is very good about that. Working together and helping one another out, I mean. Especially during, um, bad times.

...I remember that there was one experiment where I, um, couldn't really go back to my apartment. I wound up staying with different people, most of whom I'd never properly met before then."

Halloween. Gotta love it. Jackie Faber and Sano aren't in the village anymore, but the help was most heartily appreciated at the time.
lostinmyway: (This is nice.)

And then she would bake him a cake to cheer him up from being traumatised...from attacking her.

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-14 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
She's not quite sure why Giles couldn't go home to his apartment, but one thing is clear:

"Oh, it was very nice of your friends to let you stay with them."
consultmybooks: (Curtain Call)

Which would make it worse. Grune, why you do this?

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-08-16 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Giles couldn't go home because there were hallucinations and nightmares and voices trying to drive him to the point of insanity or death. He'd...never been terribly fond of the place after that. He'd never been fond of it at all, having never wanted to stay in Luceti as long as he did, but Halloween had been one of two nails in that particular coffin.

"Yes, it was. Helios and Frederic have let me stay with them since I came back. Everything has been going...much better, since then."
lostinmyway: (Tender.)

Because she loves you, Giles.

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-16 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm very happy to hear that," she replies. The words aren't said lightly, the way they might be with someone else. Right now, nothing makes Grune happier than to hear that Giles is doing much better.
