Summary: What's a summer without going on a trip to the beach at least once?
Rating: PG13+? Depends, really.

[When one enters the beach, if they're the type of people to make beelines for food as soon as they step into a party, they'll notice that there are a few tables set up with a bunch of snacks laid about, along with a giant cooler residing at the end of the table. There's a barbecue going on too, though it'll be self-serve if you're hungry.]

[Otherwise, there's a bunch of sporting equipment laying about. A Frisbee, a few volleyball nets... Whatever you'd like to be there! Don't forget, there's always swimming in the ocean, too.]

[Yup it's her, come to brighten Rise's day~]

Well that doesn't tell me much now does it~? Elaborate on what is required to play this game, what are the aims or goals and how one wins.

Well, first, you'll need to find a team. Do you think you can do that?

[She does it better.]

You were the one who was asking who wanted to play 'volleyball', therefore it should be you who makes the teams.

[Teams? Teamwork? Being in a team? Booor-ring~]

There's no fun in being forced into teams. [Nooone at all.] Besides, there's plenty of people around...it just needs some asking.

You can get a team, can't you?

[Both of them pull off the face very well, there's no dissing here! ...She just does it better is all~]

I'm adamant in that it would be easier if you just assigned teams, but if you're really insisting I find a team myself... [But like hell will she be a part of any team.] Perhaps we could play this game one on one instead~

[This is not to say she can't form a team. She just doesn't want to. Yup.]

Well, it's not impossible...

[But only if there's ground rules. Like no flowers.]

But man, being nice to someone she's sideeyeing so much is not so nice but then again, this is public.]

You see the net over there? One team stands on each side, and the point is to try to get to get the ball into your opponent's court. To get a point.

Looks as though she's going to have to close her parasol for this. She tucks it under her arm and walks over to one side of the net.]

How simple. Shall we begin then?

[Better clarify how you go about getting the ball over the net soon Rise, otherwise there will be parasols and flowers and who even knows what else being used.]

[Danmaku isn't a valid move in beach volleyball!!]

Hang on! I haven't even explained the moves yet.

[There will be so much danmaku you won't even be able to tell which is the real ball!]

Fine then, explain the moves as well. You really should have mentioned that there was more to this game earlier.

[That would break the ball!! Anddd folding her arms.]

I was giving some time to for all that to sink in. Plus it's probably easier to show than tell, so listen up, okay?

Well? Did you get all that?

Of course I did, I'm not some simpleton who needs to be told twice. It seems a little more basic than I was hoping, though I shall make do.

[Stepping to one side of the court, she props her parasol up in the sand. There were no parasols in the demonstration after all... Then again, there was no danmaku either, but she already has some plans for that.

Anyway, stepping back onto the court now. Arms folded, generally not in any ready position to play volleyball.]

The game starts with a serve, correct? I shall allow you to set things in motion for us Rise~

...right.

[Well, that's fine, even if she wants to do it that way. Even if she doesn't know what Yuuka might be planning to do, Rise'll assume the worst and keep a lookout for any errant plants that may be sneaking around the volleyball court as she adopts the correct posture and-- serves!

This is all supposed to be in good sport and fun, right? Riiiight? Nah.]

[Define 'fun'~

As soon as the ball crosses to her side of the net, Yuuka flies up to it and smacks it as hard as she can. Had she been aiming into an open space, the ball would have certainly landed in the sand. However, it seems she's returning the ball right at Rise instead.

Sure it would be fun to win on points, but wouldn't winning via forcing your opponent to forfeit be even better?]

[The ball comes barreling at her faster than expected, and Rise has to step back to receive it. She winces as it makes contact (that part of her arm? Was definitely going to be really red later, she could already tell) but she'll send it back into the air and spike it towards Yuuka's own court.]

[Swooping in quickly to deflect the ball back into the air. She isn't normally this agile on the ground. It's almost as though she might be flying... Or at least hovering at any rate.

This time on the return she sends the ball hurtling towards Rise again- But then she also fires a medium-sized spherical bullet off into open space on Rise's court. It's about the same size and shape as the volleyball, but it would hurt a lot more than a volleyball if it hit anyone.]

[The sun is a treacherous thing at this time of the day and it catches her eye as soon as Yuuka does her hit-fire combo. She'll raise one hand to shield her eyes as she jumps at the general direction of where the ball should be heading towards...]

[...and manages to hit the actual volleyball as the bullet hits the ground beside her. It's not a quiet landing.]

—huh?

[Unfortunately, with her attention diverted, her fingertips only manage to graze the top of the ball— enough to send it over the net, but very open to having it hit back at her.]

['Having it hit back at her' is right. It was a shame Rise didn't go for the other 'ball', but for it to serve as a distraction as Yuuka sends the real thing hurtling towards her works equally well.

Hopefully the sound of Yuuka quite literally punching the ball towards Rise's head will get a hold of her attention.]

[That sound--]

[It gets her attention, all right. By hitting her right at the side of her face. And the ball will then just drop quite harmlessly onto the sand with not as much as a thud.

...that's gonna bruise.]
