Draft Log #3: During v. 2.0

[A different attack - Cyclone - will carry those soldiers right into her tornado. Mia is perfectly okay with playing keep-the-enemies-away for this weather woman.]

[Oh, that is helpful! Ororo notices the separate cyclone with veiled, pleased surprise. When it's within range, she goes ahead and takes control of it so they get sucked in in no time at all.]

[And as soon as there is a bit of a pause in the wave of soldiers, she looks around to see if she can find her mysterious ally. Where are you?]

[Her mysterious ally is standing on the deck now with her back to the rail, two winged soldiers flying at her too close for her to use any Psynergy. She can keep her balance, or keep from taking hits - not both. She does try another wind burst, which may clue her in]

[Well, her attack is going to get an additional burst of wind from Storm, sending the two soldiers further back than she might've expected. Plus, they get a warning bolt of lightning, scorching the area between Mia and the soldiers and buying her some time to build up another attack.]

[Another attack...yes. She doesn't want to punch holes in the deck, so it will be Glacier this time. The wall of ice should push them right off the ship, frozen wings and all, and drop them into the sea.

Not that she's proud of that. Mia drops to one knee, with a hand still holding tight to the rail.]

[Ororo can't ignore that. With some effort, she slowly flies over to the ship to help. Her waterspout is contained for now, but she doesn't have much time to spare, otherwise it could spiral out of her control.]

[She lands a few feet from the other woman, wasting no time in helping her up.]

Are you hurt?

Not badly. [The support of another person for a moment or two is exactly what she needs - enough to heal herself and stand all the way up again] Thank you.

[Ororo shrugs off her surprise at this whole "healing yourself" magic business.]

I think I should be the one thanking you. [She smiles.] You were the one keeping the worst of the attacks from me while I left myself vulnerable. You have my thanks.

You're welcome. ...Being able to create winds like that doesn't seem very vulnerable.

[Mia's only as old as a few of your students, Storm, but I bet she seems very different.]

[She shakes her head.] It leaves me quite open for attack, as I'm sure you've already seen. It was careless. [But worth it, as the tornado over the water wreaks havoc on the soldiers in the sky.]

...Perhaps. It is also effective.

[and here, too, is someone else capable of grabbing hold of her Psynergy attacks and using them. Hm.]

If you plan to continue this way, I will remain here and keep them from surprising you.

[She gets another grateful smile for that. Ororo does better on a team. The strongest of her powers often leave her open and in need of someone to cover her. Until now, she'd been making do on her own and taking more risks than she's ever had to in recent years.]

[Storm nods, before taking off again to get back to managing that waterspout, flying effortlessly through the continuing torrent of rain.]

[There is the matter of a handful of elites coming her way, however. She can manage a few of them at a time, but if she delays any longer, the weather could very well go nuts.]

[Be glad Mia doesn't know that, about the weather. She will fire the strongest Ice Missiles she can muster at those elites, hoping to take them down rather than distract them.]

[Ice missiles are well and good, but aren't enough to down a group of Elites. They do manage to stun them long enough for Storm to step in - rather, for her to gather them into her little tornado. Which, for the record, she's decided has lived long enough anyway. It isn't long before she begins to send it further away, higher into the sky and gradually dissipating it as it goes. It's a long process, but the soldiers caught in the storm drop uselessly into the ocean. They're not technically dead, and Ororo just has to... not think about the less-than-friendly marine life they would have to deal with.]

[her other attack choices were less useful against targets at such a distance. Mia watches her dissolve the tornado in awe.]

[When she finishes, she drops several feet in the air, exhausted from the effort. A summoned gust of wind keeps her aloft before she plummets too far down, however. But she still needs a moment to center herself and catch her breath.]
