Day 3

[That... is very impressive. There is definitely something different about this woman...

Dhaos forgoes his usual sorcery for the moment and simply kicks the soldier he's dealing with overboard, and then turns to another conveniently-placed group:]

Tractor Beam!

[The spell lifts them into the air, and once it relinquishes its hold on them they'll be sucked right into the waterspout.

Once he's done with that, Dhaos takes another glance back at Ororo's position, and lo and behold-- three assailants have noted her state of distraction.]

On your left!

[That cry is just loud enough to catch her attention! Ororo frowns at the coming attackers, and manages to send a lightning bolt in their general direction. It doesn't quite hit them, but it does keep them back and away from her for the moment, while her waterspout continues to gather momentum and strength.]

[Well, she's paying attention! They're close enough together that Dhaos can wipe them out with a well placed Dhaos Laser, which is exactly what it sounds like. If they're not vaporized, they're sucked into the waterspout.]

[identity profile] temperedtempest.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
[She winces a little at the ones who are vaporized; outright killing is what she's trying to avoid. Sending them into her little contained tornado hopefully incapacitates them just enough, is what she's aiming for.]

[Still, Ororo manages to spare a moment to search for whoever is assisting her, glad that the tornado is being put to use.]

[Dhaos quite obviously has no qualms with killing people, so he won't notice. Hope you don't mind the barbecue, Ororo.

He does float on over to where she should be able to see him, however.]

Keep going.

[She nods in acknowledgement.]

Thank you, for the assistance. [She smiles gratefully. It doesn't escape her that she owes him for his help.]

[She gets his usual nod in return: much as he doesn't really like people or violence, he can appreciate the effort Ororo is putting into this. Everyone has to try their best.

He'll give the area a short scan to make sure there are no approaching enemies, and then begin another cast. This spell is going to be a little bigger.]

[If casting a particularly big spell takes time and effort that it does, then Ororo will return the favor - as soon as more soldiers show up, she makes sure to keep them from disrupting him by directing a galeforce wind hurtling their way, drawing them towards her and her nifty little tornado. The one that is steadily filling up with all the soldiers she's been collecting; soon she'll have to dissipate the thing, send them all into the ocean.]

[It takes Dhaos less time than it would another sorcerer from his world, but it does take time: he does appreciate the help, even if he can't say so right now.]

Cyclone!

[Which is exactly what it sounds like: Dhaos' cyclone forms around the maelstrom, sucking any enemies not already being drawn in towards it.]

[identity profile] temperedtempest.livejournal.com 2011-09-08 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, that is impressive. A cyclone larger than her own! This is the first time Ororo's met anyone capable of something like this, at that level.]

[It becomes increasingly difficult to contain, however, and so as soon as all the enemies within sight have been drawn into the fierce winds of her storm, she stretches out a hand and raises the entire column of wind and rain into the sky. It disappears in the clouds, and what becomes of the soldiers - well, it won't be pretty.]

[Dhaos himself is impressed by Ororo's power and the level of control she has over both their spells, something he's never seen before. He watches as the soldiers trapped in the winds fall, crying out in alarm, back into the ocean.]

...Well done.

[identity profile] temperedtempest.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
I could say the same to you. You're very skilled.

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-09-11 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. Though sorcery, as I take it, is not that uncommon a skill among the villagers.

[identity profile] temperedtempest.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't, but I would be surprised if everyone had your level of mastery.

Though I'm afraid I have no room to talk, as I've never witnessed actual magic up close like this.

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-09-11 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
...I suppose that is true. So you are from a world devoid of magic?

[This is hard to imagine for Dhaos, who has been to at least two other worlds that both had magic, but then again two isn't exactly representative of the universe. Or multiverse.]
