/We had a very interesting conversation, Captain Sparrow and myself. Never thought I'd hear a pirate talk about reading self-help books. "A Better Man in Seven Days."/

"A Better Man in Seven Days"? It's taken him a great deal longer than that.

[Their recent ride through the Tunnel of Love and Justice together still stings mightily, and probably will a while longer. Giles is nothing if not a creature who values his pride.]

...he has his good points. Or so Buffy tells me.

[Jack did, however, recently forgive Giles for tearing his throat out. So there's that.]

/I find him to be an... amusing man. Odd, but amusing. Certainly entertaining./

[There's a moment of silence as she thinks back on her last conversation with him, her expression growing a bit contemplative. She trusts Jack about as far as she can throw him, but there have been things on her mind.]

/We talked about you./

[Giles...stops walking.

Oh, he knows the things Jack could say about him. He knows the things that he should probably thank Jack on bended knee for never saying about him, and will now not do so because hey, the pirate goes around talking about such things anyway.]

...did you? I thought my ears were burning a while ago.

[Ginia stops as well, the motor quietly putting before she shuts it off. It feels like it could be that kind of conversation.

She doesn't respond right away, trying to find the words. It's a bit silly as it's all there on the network free for anyone to read, but she still treads carefully. Giles' friendship is something she values after all.]

/He thinks you're mad. Spoke of something you did to him and warned me to be careful./

I am not mad. According to Paprika, at least, and I'll trust her word on that.

...you're going to have to enlighten me as to what this "something" is, however, since we've disliked or hated one another probably since about day one.

/I know madness. I'd say you are one of the most refreshingly normal people I know./

[There's a faint smile. Her hand reaches to brush her hair back, quickly turning it into a gesture of brushing dust off her helmet.]

/Said you drained of him of his blood and left him to die. And you hexed him./

He's right.

[Folding his arms tightly across his chest, Giles starts walking along the route again. It's not something he denies, but the look on his face might suggest that the memory is hardly pleasant.]

Although the order was reversed. First hexing. Then biting.

[Ginia flips the motor back on and quietly putters alongside him, quiet for a bit. Does it change things? She hasn't figured that out yet. Self-preservation is a big thing and she won't put herself in danger, but Ginia also has a feeling there's a lot more to the story.]

/And will hexing and biting be something I need to worry about?/

Hexing? No. It was a stupid little attempt at vengeance and it got out of control and you're nowhere near enough of an intolerable person for me to even consider it. Jack isn't intolerable enough for me to consider it again.

Biting...

[He's silent a while longer. When Giles speaks again, he's evidently choosing his words with care.]

...I'm not sure. It depends on the experiment.

[There's an odd sense of relief at both knowing she's likeable enough to not even be considered for a hexing and knowing and having another confirmation it was related to an experiment.

Still, the second leaves more thoughts to mull over.]

/Seems there's a lot left to the whims of the Malnosso. But I then take it you don't normally go around biting people./

[Giles bares his teeth at Ginia, enough for her to see that they're very normal, very omnivorous teeth with canines that wouldn't trouble a tough steak.]

Normally? No.

Vampires, on the other hand, are rather known for it. And that is what I was, when that particular disaster occurred.

[Ginia leans in to look, unable to hid a small smile.]

/I think I remember you telling me you'd been turned into a vampire. Back in our first conversation./

Y-Yes, um, well. [He's...not smiling.] Four years can dull plenty of horrors. Or two, if you're Jack Sparrow.

/I could try to imagine./

[Ginia stops her ATV and leans a little on the bars, looking over at him and trying to collect her thoughts.]

/I don't know. I'm probably based because I like you, but...I don't know. I suppose you can't make promises for the unpredictable./

Carry a stake in your pocket, for one. And if we ever run into one another one night and I seem both rather callous and possessed of a newfound fascination with your jugular?

[He looks over at her, expression quite passive.]

Get away and call Buffy if you're feeling lucky. Aim for the heart if you aren't.

[It's not an idea Ginia likes at all, but she grins weakly at him, shoving all her feelings away behind a mask.]

/Would you prefer pine or oak?/

[He laughs, at that - a sudden, startled, but genuine sound.]

You know how much force it takes to get past a rib cage.

/I'll carve up something nice and pointy just for you./

[She sighs, her smile wavering for a moment before her marks returns.]

/You know I hope I never have to./

...I know. [He smiles reassuringly, although his expression is sad and far away. Eventually, sticking his hands in his pockets, he starts walking again.]

...but I killed someone the last time this happened to me, Ginia. I nearly killed one or two more. And I won't blame you if you stop me.

[Ginia starts up the ATV again and slowly rolls alongside him, listening to him.]

/I'll do what I can. Though in turn...if I or Alice ever lose it for any reason...put me down before I hurt someone./

We have very handy manacles reserved for that very purpose.

...that's where Buffy kept Willow and I, once she managed to catch us.

/...Oddly enough, that's good to know.

When this is all over, want to have dinner sometime?/

When all of this is over? I would love to. It seems appropriate, now that we're finally all together again.

/It'd also be nice talking to you when one of us isn't injured or otherwise moody./
