Why did this girl feel the need to state such obvious points so very frequently?

He did not smile, but gestured to a door behind which lay a set of steps leading clangingly into the metal belly of the ship. There was little need to escort her to the medic now, of course. Even as he grasped the handle and held the door wide for her he scanned the ship for distractions, for other demands upon his time that he might deem more pressing.
