Hmm.... I wonder. [Grune is just kind of moving boxes around randomly when she isn't given specific directions.]

... [Right. This is Spacey Gruney. Kazooie quells the usual wave of outright anger, though she's still visibly annoyed as she huffs.] Well, y'know anything about it? 'Cause we're supposed to not let it get taken and all.

Let me see…. We need to put them away. Isn't that right?

Yeah. We gotta get it into those buildings and stuff where it's safe with the weird robot guys.

... Not that I trust those as far as I can throw 'em! But the priceless cargo thingy's gonna get stolen by those Third Party guys if we don't, and that's bad.

Yes, they shouldn't steal. It's not right.

Nah, but that's why they're the villains and we're the heroes. [Black and white morality at its finest!]

Anyway! I figure we better see whether or not there're any guys coming to try to grab it... [Kazooie hops up onto a ledge tentatively to Amaze-O-Gaze around.] Hmm...

Do you see anyone?

[As a matter of fact... there are indeed a group of Third Party members approaching. Including one that looks a little abnormal. ~~Think it should be a Shifter?~~]

... Yep. Bozos are on their way!

[Kazooie flanks one of the boxes, flaring her wings out protectively and glaring up at the rank-and-file of the approaching members.] You're not getting through!

[~~Only if you feel confident in Kazooie's abilities to defend, because Grune is pretty much useless without her magic.~~]

Oh, my.

[She begins casting, black lights appearing beneath her feet.]

[~~Yeah, probably not the best idea...~~

Those black lights mean a serious butt-kicking is in order, Kazooie remembers. But this time she won't be Egg-less! She'll actually be able to put up a real fight!

The Third Party flunkies swoop closer, wingbeats loud and threatening. Kazooie doesn't break her gaze; it's looking for the best time to strike.

And that's... now!]

Pah!

[And there goes one Grenade Egg, air-mailed to the leading Third Party member's torso. Does it hit?]

[It does! And, moments later, so does that Bloody Howling. So much for that soldier.

Since that worked so well, have another!]

[That second Bloody Howling rips through the soldier nearest the one that was just taken down. The splash damage from the grenade, plus the fact that one of their ranks just went down so easily, is enough to scatter the Third Party group from their formation.

Kazooie pivots and aims a Fire Egg at one of the outside members of this new cloud of targets, trying to pick off the ones that are dropping low to attempt to snatch up the cargo.]

[Grune keeps casting Bloody Howling. Unless some of the Third Party land, it's the only spell of hers that will reach them. Fortunately, it's an effective one.]

[(Un?)Luckily, a few of the Third Party are landing, taking advantage of the distraction caused by their brethren getting their feathers handed to them. Kazooie doesn't even notice one until she gets an intimate introduction to a rusty sword just below her Filial wing.

She lets out a rather ear-piercing draconic squawk and instantly spits fire in the Third Party member's face, but now there's a really horrible-looking deep indent in her back... and it hurts.]

[Hearing her new friend's sound of pain (she doesn't actually recognise Kazooie...), Grune doesn't take even a moment's break. She immediately starts casting another spell after she's finished yet another Bloody Howling. This time, the lights beneath her feet are blue and white.]

[Kazooie doesn't notice the spell difference until she turns back and sees that the lights aren't their usual black. Still retaining presence of mind despite the pain and the fact they're in the middle of battle, she asks, a question without the usual bite (whether it's the fact she's suffering or the fact Grune is so deep in thought isn't clear):]

... Gruney, what're you doing?

[Grune is a little too busy to reply right now, but soon enough, Kazooie has her answer:] Aqua Laser.

[Light briefly appears around Grune's body, and then the Third Party soldiers on the ground have a wall of water taller than Grune racing towards them to smash into them.]

[... Holy crap that is a lot of water. Kazooie squawks loudly in surprise and, well, something close to admiration as that wave sweeps the Third Party members off their feet. Seriously, who expects water out of literally nowhere?]

... Man, Gruney... you have some pretty awesome magic.

[May as well help out. An Ice Egg volley is going to freeze a few of those hapless Third Party members in place in the water... which, uh, may end in drowning or at least being buffeted around a lot.]

Oh, thank you. Your magic is very nice, too.

[Oh, my, that soldier is getting a little bit close. She goes back to casting Bloody Howling.]

[And the Bloody Howling nails the one that had nearly gotten close enough to flank them.

But there's another one. It's close, too close to do anything but -]

Gruney!

[There's about two seconds to react. Kazooie does the ridiculous thing and quite bodily gets in the way, protecting Grune almost before she's aware of what exactly she's doing. The Third Party member gets a razor-sharp beak-tip embedded in her thigh; she stumbles back enough for Kazooie to interpose herself better between the two.]

Leave her alone!

Bloody Howling.

[That takes care of that soldier. But now Grune is getting a little worried. If she's not careful, Kazooie is going to hurt. She's going to try to cast her spells even faster now.]

[That's probably not going to bode well for Grune eventually... But luckily, they've managed to cut down most of the soldiers.

There's only the one left, an Elite, in a terse standoff. Kazooie still hasn't moved from her position, staring angrily down her beak at the Elite.]

You got two seconds to get outta here before I turn you into hamburger.

[She's not making that threat idly. But it's unlikely the Elite is going to listen.]

[Especially not when, after calling out, "Good luck!", Grune starts casting again. Aqua Laser, coming soon!

…There's definitely going to be an Orange Gel in her future.]

[The Aqua Laser washes around Kazooie's sides, flooding the area in front of them and sending the Elite back. But the Third Party member stands her ground, and instead shifts to a more attack-based mode.

Kazooie takes advantage of the few seconds they have to spare, Kazooie charges forward and aims an Ice Egg at the surface of the water where the Elite's legs meet. If her aim is good, it'll freeze her legs in place a few seconds, which might give Grune a chance to cast something else.]

[Grune is working on yet another Bloody Howling, but it'll be a race to see whether she can finished casting it before the Elite frees herself.]
