[Should he be horrified? Probably. Is he concerned? Yes. But no news of deaths have filtered over the journals, and he feels as though he's gotten far too used to this. Compared to Tibet? Well...nothing can really compare to Tibet.]

[By himself? Giles could think of a great many names. In conjunction with a nearly worshipful faith in Buffy and names of people he seems unable to shake, who life seems determined to make him think well of...]

Stupid idiot. Went down with the ship making sure everyone else got off, first. He insists he's no hero but...

[ buffy slides her eyes off to the distance. god, believing he was dead again? ]

...I saw the airship fall from the beach. I didn't know -- I came across him accidentally, later.

Most of the immediate area saw it fall.

And in a war, that isn't always a bad thing.

Doesn't mean I'm gonna welcome them with open arms. The disasters, I mean. Not the people.

I don't recall suggesting that you should. "Surprising" doesn't always equate to "nice".

[Finding out that he was the wrong sort of person to handle Helios' magic was surprising, to say the very least.]

Substitute 'doesn't always' with 'rarely' and that's about where I am, right now.

N-no. Surprises from Jack? They've been more nice than bad, for the most part. [ the one good day. the dinner in the treehouse. his guard-destroying tenderness. ]
