lucetilogs | Draft Log #3: During v. 2.0

[Ginia sidesteps as her enemy takes a swing at her, slashing at his extended wrist before darting away. What she may lack in strength, she makes up with it in speed, dodging his attacks and getting in slashes and stabs here and there. She bides her time, looking for the right opening to get a slash in at the throat or stomach. She plays it safe and defensive, slowly drawing him further away from Derek and getting the two Third Party members split up.]

[Derek ducks under the beheading attempt, dropping to his knees. In the next movement, he's once again thrust the hunting knife, this time deep into the man's stomach, and twists it hard. When the soldier staggers backward, starting to choke, Derek wastes no time in going after him, grabbing him securely around the head.

In the next moment, there's a sharp cracking sound, and the man slumps to the ground, dead of a broken neck. Derek turns to see how Ginia is doing.]

[Ginia's slowly moving them closer to the trees and underbrush, dodging, leading him on, and when she gets a little too close and takes a cut, she shrugs it off and focuses on the task at hand.

There! The soldier gives a swing of his sword, the blade getting caught on some of the low-hanging branches. Ginia quickly dives under his arm and drives her knife into his throat, slashing it open in one smooth movement as she moves to the side.]

[Derek watches this with no small amount of appreciation. Woman can definitely fight. But then his attention is back to the moment.

He'll scan the area, making sure there were no other soldiers around. Seeing and hearing none, he retrieves his blades, cleaning them on the clothing of the dead soldier before sheathing them.]

[Her movement results in avoiding most of the blood spray, but a good amount still gets onto her shirt and pants, especially as he falls. Oh well, so it goes. Her focus also turns back to their surrounding, cleaning off her blade when she also feels the coast is clear.]

/Back to base with our report?/

[It's probably criminal to be able to sign that with a friendly smile.]

[Probably just as criminal, then, that Derek can give her a slight smile in response and nod as if nothing had happened in the past few minutes.]

/Yeah.

...Good job./

/Same goes to you. We should spar sometime once we're out of here./

[Even as she keeps up the conversation, she begins to drop back into a stealthy stance, ready to get out of the forest and away from the bodies. Best be far away in case another patrol comes by.]

/Maybe so./

{He hasn't really sparred with anyone since Raphael, and that was a while back. Still, it would be the first time since he got to Luceti that his sparring partner just might be on the same level as him...instead of hyped up with super powers or weird mystical abilities that he couldn't hope to compete with as a normal human.]

/Let's go.../

[And once again, he'll lead the way, hopefully without any more unexpected attacks.]

[Ginia will happily spar against anyone who is a human. Or relatively normal human. Either way, she likes learning and testing her strengths and working on her weaknesses.

And once more, she follows, watching his back for him.]

[The rest of the way back is uneventful, even though once or twice another patrol does pass by overhead.

One they reach the camp, Derke straightens up, stretching and relaxing as they come into the open. He'll glance back to Ginia and nod.]

[It's good to be out of the jungle. Ginia also relaxes, stretching her arms over her head and smiling a bit more.]

/I'm definitely taking a long bath once this draft is done./

[Derek grins a little]

/You and me both. Salt water just isn't doing it./

/Can't say the dirt and mud is doing much for my complexion either./

[That's said in jest and she grins at it. Really, aftering slicing open someone's throat and sneaking around a forest, she does she look like someone who gets girly over a bit of dirt?]

/Feel free to talk, by the way. Just mute, my hearing is fine./

[You never know. Might be a side effect of always being dirty when she works, you know?

Derek grins at the quip, though.]

All right. I was kinda enjoying the silence, though.

[He will start heading for the waterside as he speaks; if nothing else, getting some of the grime off before he reports to Caesar would be nice.]

/I won't stop if you if you want to keep signing. Whatever is easiest for you. Just don't feel like you have to sign on my behalf./

[And she'll follow. It may be salt water, but it'll do for scrubbing off dirt and blood off. Wouldn't do to go into base looking like a mess and scaring some of the kids anyway.]

[Derek nods, giving her a quick grin, He'll probably end up going for a combination of both; he needs the practice anyway, but there will probably end up being things he can't 'say' clearly.

At any rate, he chooses a spot that's near the camp, but protected from direct line of sight, stripping his shirt and weapons off and piling them on the sand before he wades in up to the waist. For someone who has obviously led a rough and violent life, if his fighting skills are any indication, he's surprisingly free of scars; other than a jagged line of a scar that follows his right hipbone and disappears under the waistband of his jeans, there's very little flaw to his skin to see, even when he starts rinsing off the blood and grime.

After a moment, he'll dunk himself completely under the water, doing his best to get the crap out of his hair as well.]

[Ginia unclips her weapons and removes her protective vest and the jacket underneath, setting everything carefully on the beach and keeping her guns out of the sand. She glances at Derek as he goes into the water, giving a glance over his body. Hey, no harm in admiring.

However, she won't be joining him in the water as now is not the time for a wet t-shirt contest and she has too many scars she'd rather not show off, though the one running up the inside of her left arm is visible now. She'll stay by the water's edge instead and crouch down to scrub water across her hands and face.]

[It'll take Derek several minutes, but eventually, he'll make his way back out, mostly clean of the grime he'd picked up while patrolling. He'll glance at Ginia's arm--just enough to note the scar--but then turns his attention to his shirt to get it clean. At this point, he's getting into a routine. Wade in, scrub down, get clothes, apply sand until most of the stains are faded are gone.]

Near the end of your shift?

[It doesn't take her too much time to wash off so Ginia is mostly enjoying the water and rare moment of peace as he wades back.]

/Should be done after I check in, then I have time to rest up and eat. You?/

The same.

[More or less clean now, he puts the shirt back on and sits next to her for a moment.]

Guess we could invade the mess hall together if you wanted.

/Wouldn't mind the company. Though don't think this replaces an Italian dinner./ [She teases, she teases.]

Oh no, you're still going to have to go to that.

[Tease all you want; Derek has determined that you will be fed. By him. So that will happen. But not here.

He'll stand up, offering a hand to her.]

Let's go report in so we can get some food.

/Good. When someone promises me Italian, I like to see that promise kept./

[Ginia takes his hand in her own and easily hauls herself up to her feet.]

/Give me a second to grab my gear and we can be on our way./

I keep my promises.

[Derek holds steady for her so that getting up is easier, and nods, letting go when she's got her feet.]

You report to Caesar or someone else?

/Good to know. And no, I've been reporting in to the captains./

[Ginia beds to pick up her weapons, attaching them back to her belt. Her vest comes back on, but she throws her jacket over a shoulder.]
