A time for merriment and laughter

Who: Everyone in Luceti!
What: The annual musical rendition of A Midsummer Night's Dream that everyone's been waiting for with the party!
When: From 8:00 pm to later into the night.
Where: At the school gym/auditorium and the cafeteria.
Summary: The big time for the play has come, time to put it on then party!
Rating: G to PG-13 at best.



When the audience entered the school gym, there will be a large stage set up with tons of chairs for everyone to sit in. After all were seated, the play began and everything was wonderful for the most part, there were some minor slip-ups here and there. Yet overall, the play was a success. Once the party had finished and the encores were done however, Frederic came out on the stage to make a speech.

"Good evening everyone, thank you for coming out tonight on this glorious occasion. To everyone involved and to all of you our wonderful audience, it has been a pleasure seeing and being with all of you. Now if everyone will turn to the school cafeteria, we can all dine together."

The door to the school cafeteria then opened to reveal a beautiful nature setting with decorations galore all over the place. There will also be a very large table with much food on it with drinks for guests and cast/crew to eat, drink, and be merry. Tonight is a night for celebration, everyone will celebrate with happiness in their hearts.

"N-not at all!" Pao-lin shakes her head. "I, um, just got to Luceti today, so..."

"Oh, my!" Grune looks mildly startled, and then she's back to smiling, full force. "You must be a New Feather. Welcome to Luceti!"

"Thanks." Pao-lin suddenly feels a lot better about being kidnapped and dropped in an unfamiliar place. Strange. "Did you help with the play?"

"Yes, I painted all the flowers," she says. "It was a lot of fun."

Pao-lin might have noticed the excessively floral nature of the backdrops...in places. Other places were more restrained, due to Grune forgetting what she was doing and wandering off.

"Oh! They, uh...they look great." Flowers, huh? Pao-lin had guessed that that was what they were supposed to be, but they seemed pretty...blobby for flowers. "I helped out a little with that kind of thing once before."

"Oh, did you?" Grune looks genuinely curious and ready to hear all about Pao-lin's theatrical experience.

IKR? Sigh.

Pao-lin nods. "Back when I still attended school with other kids. I was the set designer and set painter." Because nobody wanted to act with a freak like her, so they shoved her into the background. It hadn't been all bad, since Pao-lin had long discovered her love for the visuals arts, but...she'd really wanted to play the prince in the play that year.

"Oh, my. That sounds like a very important job."

Grune tends to be pretty easy on the ego, as well as the eyes.

"Oh, it wasn't that important, really." She shrugs a little. "Sets are nice, but the most important people in plays are actors and actresses."

"Oh, but if there weren't anybody to make the sets, the actors would have nowhere to act," Grune says reasonably.

Without their sets and music and special effects, their play this evening wouldn't have been nearly as nice, after all.

"I guess you're right." Pao-lin's not convinced, but she doesn't feel like arguing the point. It just brings up more sad memories. "Does Luceti do something like this every year?"

"Hmm...." Grune thinks for a bit. "I wonder."

Pao-lin, about now, you should be figuring out that this woman is not the most reliable source of information.

Pao-lin tilts her head. Maybe she hasn't been in Luceti long enough to know that? But surely if it's a regular thing, that would have been mentioned in announcements or something.

Oh, right. She still doesn't know this lady's name. "What's your name?" she asks. "I'm Pao-lin."

"It's very nice to meet you, Pao-lin. I'm Grune!" She gives her a bright smile.

"Nice to meet you too, Grune!" Geez oh man this lady is pretty -- Pao-lin has to force herself to stop staring. She hopes Grune won't notice. "Um, wh-what kind of world are you from?" Bit of a strange segue, but what the hey.

Luckily for Pao-lin, Grune is probably used to people staring at her for no apparent reason--if she noticed at all, that is.

"Oh, I'm from the Legacy. It's a very nice place. What kind of world are you from?"

"I'm from Sternbild," Pao-lin says. "It's a really big city, built on three levels, and it's separated from the the mainland by rivers on all sides."

"Oh, my. That sounds very pretty," she says with a smile. Pao-lin must be happy to live in such a nice place.

"It is, and it's even prettier at night. What kind of place is the Legacy? Is that a city too?" Actually, it sounds more like a name for a ship.

"Oh, no, the Legacy is the ship we all live on," she replies. Good guess, Pao-lin! "It's pretty, too."

Pao-lin tilts her head. "You live on a ship?" Maybe it was like a cruise ship or something. It has to be pretty big to be comfortable, she thinks. "That's pretty cool, but how come you live on a ship?"

"Hmm...." She thinks about that for a bit. "I wonder."

Asking Grune too many questions generally doesn't work out too well.

Yeah, Pao-lin's starting to notice that a little. But she's used to such airheadedness from Sky High.

...ah! That must be why she felt so comfortable around Grune -- the woman reminded her of Keith. Sort of. Pao-lin decides to shift the subject slightly.

"Is anyone else from the Legacy here in Luceti?" she asks.

This is definitely a subject Grune likes talking about, judging from the way her face lights up.

"Oh, all kinds of my friends are here. There's Norma and Fenimore and Stella and Sophie and Moses and Walter and Jay. I'm very glad they're here."

Wow. Grune had a lot of people from her world here. "I guess that makes living in Luceti a lot easier, doesn't it?"
