so pile your boots up in the corner -- hang your jacket from the door
Who: anyone invited to house seven's thanksgivingstravaganza -- as well as anyone walking by who might be curious about all the brouhaha.
What: giving thanks!
When: forward dated to november 24th due to predicted holiday hiatuses!
Where: house seven!
Summary: friends, food, fondness. family. festivities.
Rating: g for goin' up.
House Seven was decked out in soft oranges and browns. Gentle reds and yellows. The table was shoved up against a wall and dish upon dish of delicious Thanksgiving dinner-bits adorned it. Plates to one side, a pile of cutlery. Feel free to line up and pile your arms high with roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, carrots and green beans, cranberry sauce, sinful gravy. Stuffing. Steamed broccoli. The amount of food would almost be laughable had the guest list not been so long. Chatter abounded.
It was, by all accounts, a fairly casual gathering. No ceremony (Buffy, by this point, was all ceremony'd out after some fiercely dedicated meal-prepping) to stand on and no customs to keep. Just food and friendship. The only thing customary about Buffy Summers would be her delighted, enchanted grin throughout the evening. Very little pleased her more than a social event that was going well.
Mix! Mingle! Make merry!
(ooc; threadjack into oblivion and don't forget to add your character to the entry tags! have fun! note that this is forward-dated. i'll be tagging around myself later this evening. )

"Thanks for the invite, Buffy." She gestured to the table lined up with all the delicious food. "Did you make all that yourself?

She held out the tumbler.

If Cordelia had thrown Thanksgiving, there'd be a lot of meals that were preordered from ... somewhere. "I didn't know you could cook as well." As well as everything else Buffy was capable of doing; from kicking demonic ass to bartending to hooking up with a pirate. Was there anything she couldn't do?

Her voice softened. "I am trying. To learn the cooking thing. Bit by bit. Doctor McCoy used to do most of the food stuffs when he lived here but...now that he's gone? Someone's gotta step up to the plate. But believe me, my input was mostly supervisory."

So, she decided to go for something that she knew - Buffy as the Slayer. "You can be frightening when you use your Slayer voice."

A sip of her very diluted wine. She suppressed a booze-face. "As for me and my voice? It's gotten many a carrot boiled, today."

Nope. Derek was a vampire hunter -- and so Buffy had a particular bond with him. "And he taught me how to make a curry. A good curry. A curry fit for a romantic dinner with someone who specifically hinted at wanting curry. So he can give hope to the gastro-hopeless."

Cordelia had a feeling who this person who desired curry was. "I'll have to keep a look out for him, then. I'd like to fend for myself here. Not of the catching turkey variety, but being able to whip up something without it looking like charcoal would be a bonus."
Speaking of catching turkeys, Cordelia couldn't quite believe that the turkey on the table hadn't been store bought. "Jack really chased a turkey?"
no subject
"Mmhm. Jack does that. Chase things. Sometimes? He catches them."

Thinking about Buffy's love life. Strange.
"He sounds useful."

gd continuity. :|
WHAT EVEN IS IT.
She pointed at the pirate across the room. "But you see it, right? The Deppitude? Like a freaking body double."
some mystical force buffy should go slay
She looked in the direction and spotted him. Taking a minute to squint her eyes and, yes, there it was, the Deppitude. "You're so lucky you've snatched that up because I cannot resist the Depp." Cordelia sighed, returning her gaze to Buffy. "It's sad. He probably doesn't even know who Johnny Depp is."
...she'll get right on that.
my hero ♥
"You had success with Indiana Jones? Maybe there's hope for him yet. I'd pick one of Depp's better movies before you tell him about the likeness. He might take offense to some of the stuff he's done."

Total dumbass.

Buffy took another sip and then shifted the conversational gears. "You, though. Still going good with the settling?"

Except, the spoilers. That made her give a bit of a sigh. Being three years behind was difficult, to say the least.
