Summary: No one wants to miss the SOCIAL EVENT OF THE SEASON. Also an Angel piñata & Jack Sparrow is the guest of honor. GO CRAZY!

[Spike paced, waiting for the first arrivals. It was barely sundown as he pulled the curtains away from the windows and set various foodstuffs on the counter for general consumption, though the onions are mysteriously disappearing before the party begins. Magic.

The Ramones are playing softly in the background on a stolen boombox, the wine Buffy brought set up next to the whiskey he himself nicked. One would think it'd be impossible to have an anxiety attack without a beating heart...

For once, Spike has ditched his typical black on black for charcoal slacks and a light blue sweater, though the ever-present motorcycle boots haven't gone anywhere. He's ready to make a complete fool of himself, drink in hand as he answers the door.]

"Two hundred it shall be." She makes her way over, coat hanging by the door and dressed casually. She's even wearing a blouse that isn't a button down, and were those jeans? Those were jeans. "...Dare I ask what is in Screech?"

Hey, it's a party. Time to let your hair down a bit, Adele.

"Screech, madam, is the foulest rum ever concocted."

It is, just a bit. Half down, even, aren't you so proud?

"...if it is foul, why drink it? Intoxication should be a delicious endeavor, not something sought with gut-rot and rancid beverages."

"Not woman enough for it, eh? It's alright. I think there's a case of wine over there, darling."

"...You are a scoundrel and merciless dog of salt Jack Sparrow." Do not think for a moment she's not onto you. All the same, she extends a hand. "And I am more of an idiot than usual today."

He takes that hand and bows. "Nonsense. Why? Whatfore this idiocy? I do not see it, I confess. Come -- let me find you a glass, you're looking lonesome without one."

"The last time we drank together did not end terribly well for my liver Jack. That is the idiocy." Not to mention whatever she'd said that she never truly intended to share. Or the odd ideas about 'marauding'. She huffs a soft laugh at the gallantry and follows along.

"You got sick?" He looks just the tiniest bit penitent. "Sorry 'bout that, doc."

He pauses and looks over the selection of wines.

"Hmmmmm....I don't see anything French..."

"The phrase is hungover. And it is as much my fault as it is yours, so do not apologize." She chuckles and looks at the wines. "When I called you a scoundrel that was my conceding to your attempts to feed me...what did you call it? Scump?"

"Screech. Close. Entirely different vowels, but it has a scumpishness about it. Ah -- here -- a nice pink wine. Must be healthy!"

"Screech, then. And that is a Blush. No sane Frenchwoman drinks blush wine Jack. They are for neophytes."

[all7seas]

"Something blood red, then? To remind you of the surgeries?" Oh, incorrigible.

[fleurdesel]

"Blood red or bruise black. Or the shade of iodine." She chuckles and looks for a good red, or a bourbon she wouldn't mind.

"What about this one? 'Red Wolf Cape.' Hmmm..."

[fleurdesel]

"That sounds promising. Is it a Merlot, a Cabernet, a Malbec?" Adele checks the bottle and reads the label over, considering.

"French, French, French. No champagne?" He pulls out a chilling bottle of the bubbly stuff.

[fleurdesel]

"You would like my version of Paris, Jack. Plenty of room for scoundrels." After some searching she finds a champagne flute on the table and nods to Jack. "Try not to strike anyone with the cork, yes? I am off duty, so to speak."

"One moment, milady--"

With some effort...the cork goes flying with a pop. It lodges itself squarely in the Angel piñata's forehead.



"I love France."

"At your leisure, m'lord." She watches the cork fly with no little amusement, and huffs a soft laugh at where it lands. "I do not know if that was deliberate on your part or not, but well done in either case."

Adele extends her glass for the sweet, bubbly wine and offers Jack a fond smile. "I am certain France loves you just as well, so long as you do not sully our wine or food, we are mostly forgiving."

"With that size forehead? It would be luck to miss it." Ha. Any potshot at Angel was a wonderful thing. Jack pours her some champagne, though for himself he is keeping the Screech.

"And France has treated me well enough over the years. I really owe allegiance nowhere, so I'm not too fussed by any of the conflicts. You know. British versus the French, and all that."

"I will admit, it is a substantial forehead. One wonders if it is an exaggeration of sorts, or true to life." She lifts her glass and dips her head in thanks before sipping the champagne, warmed by it a little.

"France has always had a fondness for our scoundrels and Pirates. I wonder..." Tilting her head, it wasn't entirely impossible, but it'd be amusing were it true. "Have you ever heard of Jean Lafitte?"

"Dead-on accurate, actually." He sips from the bottle of Screech. "Can't say that I have. "I did know a Capitaine Chevalle. The Penniless Frenchman.

He owed me a quid."

"That is more than a little disturbing...I wonder if he has some sort of condition that it is so large."

"Why would you lend money to a man that is known as The Peniless Frenchman?"

"Oh, I'm quite sure he has all possible conditions."

But as to the second?

"He has a strange draw, does Chevalle. Probably to get him to stop undressing me with his eyes."

"There is some history here, unpleasant history." A comment, not a question, not prying. Just an observation.

"When Frenchman do that there are two options. One, pay them as you did. Or you can splash the nearest alcoholic beverage in their eyes. Well. Three if you...how did he put it. Ah. Out 'creep' them?"
