Luceti Town Meeting Cycle Year 5

Who: Everyone!
What: Town meeting
When: February 6th at 6 PM
Where: The school cafeteria
Summary: The village gets together for a town meeting. Let there be ideas, plans, and future festivities.
Rating:
With the help of some friends and friends of friends, the school cafeteria has been transformed into a meeting space. Rows of chairs and a few benches fill the space, providing adequate seating for whoever wishes to come to the meeting.

Along the back are some tables set with cookies, pastries, and tea, juice, and coffee for people to munch and sip on, before, during, and after the meeting

By the entrance is another table. On it sits a locked box with a slit on top, small sheets of blank paper, and a few pencils and pens. This is the message box, for anyone who wishes to express an idea or thought in an anonymous manner. The box will later be opened and all the messages inside will be read out loud by Ginia.

At the front sits a platform - one of the ones built for A Midsummer Night's Dream - with a table and chair resting on top. It's where Ginia will sit during the meeting, the extra height for the purpose of being able to see anyone who may be seated in the back row.

...Actually now I think of it these seems as good of place as any to ask

[She mutters that to herself before going up to make another announcement. Unlike the previous one, this one is actually a bit more selfish in nature, but it still might be of interest to other people]

If anyone has the means to loan, build, or give my Brigade a submarine, would you be willing to part with it? Alternatives can include a means to breathe underwater - magical or otherwise - or qualified SCUBA lessons if we can find proper tanks and equipment. Not all of you will have been here long enough to remember, I suppose, but there used to be a desert where that sea is now and there used to be some ruins at the far end of the desert. I'd like to mount and expedition to see what became of those come summer.

A spell for breathing underwater shouldn't be that hard to come up with. I-I probably have one somewhere in one of my books actually.

I've been wondering about those ruins myself...they might help up learn a thing or two. I-I'm just worried that there might be something living down there protecting it.

And what about water pressure?

[ Oh. He hasn't thought about that. ] I learned a spell from the Atlantians about how to overcome such a thing.

I can't remember it at this exact moment but, ah, I wonder if...barriers might help with such things.

That's an important - we don't know how deep it actually is - or at least I don't - plus it'll be cold too...

Yes. It's be ideal if we could somehow make a submarine of sorts. Perhaps put a barrier that keeps water out around one of the ships...and try to get it underwater somehow.

I was able to recover an aquata breathing apparatus from the Item Shop shortly after my arrival, but have not seen more since then. That said, if there were some way to procure more it would likely make the underwater explorations far more efficient.

Okay you, with the beard, who spoke up! Tell me more about those!

[He reaches to his belt and produces an apparatus.]

"The A99 Aquata Breather. It can provide up to two hours of breathable oxygen underwater, and it's very lightweight and portable. If we had some way of either finding or creating more of them, it would obviously make underwater exploration much easier. It can also protect against inhaled atmospheric hazards... or vacuum, though I don't believe we're likely to encounter hard space any time soon."

[Wow you were just holding that around...? But she is going to walk on over to hold out her hand so she can examine it. She understands if he's going to refuse, of course, but that looks so suspect]

[He hands it to her. And he may as well carry it around, an underwater breathing apparatus does one no good if one doesn't have it around when they need to go underwater!]

"It's standard-issue equipment for the Jedi Order, but as I said, I've only been able to find the one."

[Well, if she's going to look at him like that, he's definitely not going to speak. That was hard enough to do in the first place, Haruhi! Now he just feels like he said something horribly, horribly wrong.

Depends - if it's an artifact or something like that, no way. If you mean biological samples of stuff down there, you can help yourself.

[Luckily for Haruhi, he's more worried about the latter than the former, though it's not as if artifacts don't pique his interest... however, he'd rather they be studied by someone more competent, if that's available.]

[After a moment:] ... Will the i-information gleaned be... a-available in some form l-later? Obviously, publishing via the j-journals would be... f-foolhardy, given the nature of the... data involved... b-but, er, perhaps some method of... d-distribution...

[...] What's wrong with publishing a journal? Stick in the Library or the Brigade's library or the Med Center or whatever.
