Luceti Town Meeting Cycle Year 5

Who: Everyone!
What: Town meeting
When: February 6th at 6 PM
Where: The school cafeteria
Summary: The village gets together for a town meeting. Let there be ideas, plans, and future festivities.
Rating:
With the help of some friends and friends of friends, the school cafeteria has been transformed into a meeting space. Rows of chairs and a few benches fill the space, providing adequate seating for whoever wishes to come to the meeting.

Along the back are some tables set with cookies, pastries, and tea, juice, and coffee for people to munch and sip on, before, during, and after the meeting

By the entrance is another table. On it sits a locked box with a slit on top, small sheets of blank paper, and a few pencils and pens. This is the message box, for anyone who wishes to express an idea or thought in an anonymous manner. The box will later be opened and all the messages inside will be read out loud by Ginia.

At the front sits a platform - one of the ones built for A Midsummer Night's Dream - with a table and chair resting on top. It's where Ginia will sit during the meeting, the extra height for the purpose of being able to see anyone who may be seated in the back row.

Good. I have enough of that to deal with in the house between Ginia and Helios.

"Don't worry. I have no desire to become wounded or killed doing anything foolish."

[Of course, it wasn't foolish if it was necessary for whatever reason, but perhaps he wouldn't mention that bit.]

[She's onto you Obi-Wan, and it gives her pause. She sighs and turns to face him.] I cannot ask you to avoid injury when you are doing something that isn't foolish, can I Ben? Just...try to be careful.

"I'm always careful. Before I came here, careful was my specialty."

[No, really, he'll have to tell her about the philosophy of Soresu some time.]

Then there is nothing for me to be worried about. [She chuckles and goes back to straightening the chairs.] Not that it will make me worry any less, but. [SHe shrugs.]

"You needn't worry about me. If anything should happen to me, for whatever reason, one must accept it and move on, yes?"

At this point all I can promise is that I will try, Ben. And yes, I know there is no 'try', but I would rather not make a liar out of myself by saying I can, and will, when I am not certain.

"I'm actually a bit less staunch on that point than Yoda was, under most circumstances."

[fleurdesel]

Then should anything happen to you, I promise to try to accept it and move on. I do not know if I will manage but...I can say I won't [She waves a hand in the vague direction of the doors and snow] Do anything foolish. Indulge in any negative emotions.

[averybadfeeling]

"I'm glad to hear that."

[A grin.]

"Besides, from what I understand, if one dies here they simply come back with some sort of penalty. Missing a limb, or blind, or without some vital memory. Something of that nature. I assure you, I could adjust to something like that easily enough."

Because now death is cheap and still not at all traumatic for anyone involved? [She offers him something of an arch look, not irritated at him, but rather at the circumstances.] And calling blindness or a missing limb a 'penalty' as though this were some kind of game-

[Adele cuts herself off, takes a deep breath and releases it. Nothing to be done. She cannot change this. Accept. She manages after awhile.] I would rather not see anyone struck blind, but it is better than remaining dead.

"Not a game. I suspect it's more of a punitive measure for inconveniencing the Malnosso."

And heaven forbid we should ever inconvenience them.

[averybadfeeling]

"You mean after all they've done for us?"

[He chuckles.]

I suppose I should be eternally grateful to them for their services.

[averybadfeeling]

"The very best of hospitality."

[fleurdesel]

And all at the low, low cost of our freedom. How could we ever thank them for this deal?

"Clearly, this is a debt that can never be repaid, and so we must do all we can for our hosts.

Well if it is a debt, it must be repaid in full. A LeBlanc always pays back their debts, and in this instance, why, I have no choice but to do so. My good name is at stake, you understand.

[He pauses for a moment, considering.]

"... I may well discuss that with you in the future."

[Almost instantly, he reverts to the easy grin.]

"Meanwhile, however, I believe the present arrangement of the chairs is satisfactory. What next?"

I await the day with barely constrained anticipation.

[She lines up the final chair and looks over the set up, satisfied with the layout. Enough chairs, and everyone should be able to see.]

Tables, I think. We could ask Ginia, she is the one who would know better than I.
