Who: Everyone. New Feathers! Old Feathers...?
What: New Feather welcome party.
When: 18th, 6 pm onwards.
Where: Welcome Centre.
Summary: This is a party. There's food and games (if you like) but the idea behind it is basically to mingle mingle mingle. Maybe make a new friend/enemy/frenemy or two?
Rating: G-PG 13 at most? There might be kids in these things, man.

The all-day rain outside makes the entire atmosphere a little drippy, a little wet, a little miserable. But rain or not, the party must go on! Or at least, so the saying goes.

It's a cosy little setup-- food, warm drinks, tables and chairs to lounge around in. So come on in, dry yourself off, have some fun. Why the hell not? The weather outside is frightful.

New. I've only been here twelve days.

[And she's already more than ready to leave. But she won't, even if she could find a way. Not without Rue.]
talentsgirl: (Neutral | Oh Really)

[personal profile] talentsgirl 2012-03-20 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been here three. [And by Sharpe's count, twelve days makes a veteran. So.]

What do you think so far? Besides the obvious 'kidnapped and taken against our will, let us out' bit.
stillplaying: ([anger] another game piece)

[personal profile] stillplaying 2012-03-20 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
They're like the Gamemakers. Exactly like them.

[The words are spat, and the first real glimmer of strong emotion can be seen in her eyes. Anger, even maybe hatred.]

People say they experiment on us and use us for their games. That they can hijack your minds and make you love people without knowing any better.
talentsgirl: (Oh | Something Will Have to Be Done)

[personal profile] talentsgirl 2012-03-20 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Molly's brow furrows.]

I've heard about their experiments. [She had not, however, heard that they like to mess with the inhabitants minds as a matter of route.

That's two things I'll take personally.]

It's some pretty insane power that could do something like that to a town of this size.

[She's not... disbelieving, exactly. She's just not sure if asking Katniss directly about the Gamemakers will shut her down, so she's going about it in a round about way.]
stillplaying: ([sad] may the odds)

[personal profile] stillplaying 2012-03-20 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods in agreement. She hasn't seen anyone who looks like a Peacekeeper around the town those few times she's darted in. But she imagines the experiments must work something like the Games. And wasn't that an effective way to remind the Districts of the dangers of uprising?]

I guess it's the magic. [Except she doesn't really know what magic is supposed to look like.] I haven't seen any Peacekeepers. Or soldiers.
talentsgirl: (Hmmm | Bar Codes)

[personal profile] talentsgirl 2012-03-21 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Magic. A spell of this size... there's no way she wouldn't be able to sense it. No way that Harry couldn't. This wasn't magic. Or it wasn't just magic.]

I don't know if magic really works like that. From what I heard, though, we won't see any soldiers inside the barrier.

[...] But I don't know - I've never been in anything like this before. It sounds like you have, though.
stillplaying: ([neutral] has no idea the effect she can)

[personal profile] stillplaying 2012-03-22 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
[She recognizes the hints and cues in that statement. Kind of like the ones Dr. Aurelius would try to use to get her to talk.

But she's not going to. She's only mentioned the Games to one other person since coming here, and only because this person knew Rue. She couldn't have her ask Rue the wrong questions.

So she pretends she didn't hear that last bit. Besides, she might have more important information to offer.]

You know how magic is supposed to work?
talentsgirl: (Default)

[personal profile] talentsgirl 2012-03-22 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Molly recognizes a dodge when she hears one. And at this point, the name clicks in place. Katniss. Rue. This must be the girl living in the tree house with the younger girl.

Molly is reassured. And so she smiles, and offers a free bit of information.]

Not as well as I thought I did, apparently. And even then, I thought I had a lot to learn.
stillplaying: ([interest] reading between the lines)

[personal profile] stillplaying 2012-03-23 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
[This time, the smile is a little better received. She doesn't quite smile back, but she's much more receptive.]

We don't have magic where I'm from. But I've heard it's here. I'm not sure how to recognize it though.
talentsgirl: (Dun Dun DUN | Behind That Corner Is...)

[personal profile] talentsgirl 2012-03-23 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
[How to explain magic. There's the technical, real explanation - magic is the weave of the universe, the power of life, creation itself, that what holds and binds - but until you've seen it, until you've felt it... how had she been able to recognize magic before she started training with Harry?]

If something happens that you can't exactly explain? If you - see something out of the corner of your eye and when you turn around it's not there, or if you suddenly know something or see something that you hadn't before - where I'm from? That's how you can start to tell if something's magic. Most people just brush it off, but... it's there. I don't now if it's the same thing here, but that's a start.
stillplaying: ([happy] hint of a smile)

[personal profile] stillplaying 2012-03-23 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
[She looks at the girl, impressed. That's the first description of magic that actually makes sense. Not that she's asked around a lot.

It's something she can actually look for. Directions that she can follow.

And it's rewarded with a slight upward quirk of her lips.]

It's a good start.
talentsgirl: (Mrrr...)

[personal profile] talentsgirl 2012-03-23 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
[She smiles and shrugs a little.]

Yeah. It seems like the rules here are a little different, but still - if it happens and it's spooky and you can't explain it, magic is a good bet.
stillplaying: ([happy] hint of a smile)

[personal profile] stillplaying 2012-03-25 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'll remember that.

[And she will. Anything that'll help her and Rue.]
talentsgirl: (Oh | Put Your Brave Face On)

[personal profile] talentsgirl 2012-03-25 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
And if that happens, and you feel threatened? [She abruptly sobers, and looking very serious, meets Katniss' eyes for a moment.]

You run. Just get out of the way and hide. Most magic that I know of can only be fought with other magic. If you haven't heard of it, it's better that you run - find help, if you can.
stillplaying: ([happy] remembering)

[personal profile] stillplaying 2012-03-25 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[That sounds like advice Haymitch would give. And it's advice she'd like to follow. Maybe. But she's usually too quick to fight back.]

Maybe.

[Because ultimately, it'll depend on the situation. And who is or isn't with her at the time.]
talentsgirl: (Hoping I Did Right)

[personal profile] talentsgirl 2012-03-26 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Heh. Maybe was an interesting answer. A good one, she hoped.]

Well, hopefully most of the scary magic things won't show up here. It seems like we've got enough to deal with.
stillplaying: ([neutral] will be brave)

[personal profile] stillplaying 2012-03-26 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods her agreement. There's still a lot she has to learn - just about Luceti and the people here alone. And then there's the fact that this is another game. She can't ever forget that.

But she's lucky. She has Rue, her little ally, to watch her back.]

Are you alone? Or do you have someone else here from home?
talentsgirl: (Sweet Smile)

[personal profile] talentsgirl 2012-03-29 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
My boss is here. [Molly turned around to locate one very tall, mildly scarred individual with a glove over at least one hand who doesn't exactly exude trustworthiness. But by the way Molly's smiling about it, she disagrees with that assessment.]

Harry. That was a good surprise.

[If Katniss is paying extremely close attention to Molly, however, there's a certain tension in her that clashes with the confidence in which she regards Dresden.]
stillplaying: ([confusion] doesn't get it)

[personal profile] stillplaying 2012-03-29 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[She watches curiously, both the man and the girl's behavior. She doesn't know what to make of the man, Harry. The scars are interesting, suggestive of some sort of incident in his past. But outer scars only tell so much.

And now her head is tilted back at Molly and she's picked up on the tension. It confuses her, especially given that she was smiling just a little bit ago. And she had called it a good surprise, too.]

Can you trust him?
