[And Yuan still doesn't entirely approve of those salutes. Still, after four years of being unable to stop them, he's given up on even attempting such a thing. Instead, he gives a curt nod.]

[With the formal greetings out of the way, Albert straightens and gives Yuan a wry look. This feels right. Normal.]

Has your week fared well? It seems there's an experiment at work again.

[It feels exactly as normal as every other encounter Yuan had over the past few days, so aside from the usual paranoia of 'what if this is not how it's supposed to be?', he doesn't think any more of it.]

I've noticed. Though I'm finding it hard to tell exactly what the effects are.

Considering what I have seen so far, it seems to be memory-based. Things some people know contradict what they have. There may be something important to the fact that not everyone remembers what happened on the first of April.

[Yuan despises the memory-affecting experiments most of all. You don't realize how you were affected until it's already over.]

The first of April... Do you remember what happened that day? [Yuan sure doesn't.]

[He shakes his head.] I do not. It's as if I had slept through the entire day.

[It certainly didn't help that the entire household didn't remember anything.]

I don't know what the significance is, but it seems like a strange trigger for an experiment.

Yes, it does. Losing a day or two isn't uncommon in this place, but to have an experiment follow it up immediately... I can't recall a time that's happened, before.

[chikaidestroyer]

I cannot, either. So whatever it is that happened is likely out of the ordinary, even for a Malnosso experiment. [...] Have you heard anything about the disturbance at the battle dome?

[fortunefail]

No details, I'm afraid. I only know that there were droids involved.

[chikaidestroyer]

I had been told that Catherine's supposed lab was destroyed, so I went down there to investigate. They did not leave much to glean information off of. As usual. [Retrieving information from drafts, missions, and the like was just a slow process.]

[fortunefail]

[Hm... If they targeted Catherine, it must've been a renegade faction of Malnosso. That's a shame. Apparently the CEO was close to a breakthrough on sending people home. If they destroyed all that...]

What about Catherine himself? And that Molly girl?

[chikaidestroyer]

No signs of lethal amounts of blood loss in the rubble. [...] I have my suspicions of the battle dome clinic. [Not that he went in there or anything.]

It would be disappointing to lose that man after he entices us with plans for that experiment of his.

Yes, it would be. And loath as I am to admit it, things have improved in the village ever since he took over as CEO for the Malnosso. Who knows what sort of replacement we may get?

[chikaidestroyer]

Whatever supporters he still has within the Organization ranks would be demoralized if he was killed and captured by the Security Forces when he revived. Then we would be even more so controlled by the Commandant's influence without any dissent provided by Catherine's supporters.

[fortunefail]

Precisely. Catherine's survival is in our best interest, if only because he seems to be the lesser of two evils.

[chikaidestroyer]

I do wonder about the girl at times, too. Catherine likely had ulterior motives other than his reasoning for bringing her along with him -- unless his intended experiment was his ulterior motive.

[fortunefail]

Hm... And she wasn't found in the remains of the laboratory? [If not, that begs the question, did she escape or was she taken?]

[chikaidestroyer]

No sign of her at all. [He shakes his head.] Based on what we know about her, it seemed more likely that she would be wanted because of what she is than what she knows. [Perhaps Bil knew more than he let on about her, too.]

[What she is? To be frank, Yuan doesn't know all that much about Molly. Just what he gathered from his last conversation with Catherine.]

She was born in this world, correct?

[chikaidestroyer]

Yes. And she was with the Rogue Faction before Catherine started having her work for him.

[fortunefail]

[Oh, that's right... That incident during one of the annual Halloween parties...] She was abandoned by her comrades before, wasn't she? If she were truly that valuable to them, why would they have treated her so carelessly before?

[chikaidestroyer]

She was... [Hah, that was an interesting night to recall now.] I believe her comrades thought she would have successfully killed herself alongside them instead of being taken by the Organization.

That was still a rather careless assumption, then. Especially considering Molly's... timid nature.

[chikaidestroyer]

Perhaps. She has shown herself to have a temper at times. [The stutter made it difficult to take her seriously, though.]
