[ HE WILL TRY HIS BEST. He has no problems with ripping up the love letters addressed to him from girls who died prematurely, okay, total apathy. ]

... Family? You sure must have a big family here if you drag people into it that easily. [ They hardly know each other for a long time now, after all. ]

[Goku blinks at that and looks at his hands, starting to count with his fingers.]

Let's see... There's Ucchan and Ryoga-nii, but Ucchan isn't here anymore and Ryoga-nii is always lost... I don't know if he's still in Luceti too...

[He shakes his head and keeps counting.]

And now I have niisan.

[He shows three fingers.]

My family is really big, see? But I don't drag people into it easily. Family is important and special, they are the people that want each other to exist no matter what even if they have no blood ties. I want niisan to exist so niisan is my family.

[Yes, apparently 3 people make a big family for Goku. Which is natural since he didn't have any.]

That sure is an explanation.

[ You're so naive, Goku.. But at the same time, Natsuno is not enough of an ass to destroy a little kid's dreams, really. Only annoying teenage stalker girls'. ]

People that want each other to exist no matter what.. I didn't really have any family back home blood ties-wise, [ since in his au he's an orphan, of course.. ] so I guess I could get behind that definition. Then we're family, the two of us, if you want us to be.

Of course I want niisan to be my family!

[Have another glomp, Natsuno. As Goku smiles brightly.]

So we will have each other even if everyone else doesn't want us to be here. We won't be lonely. Even if it was lonely before and no one was with us at the start.

[ Oh, geez.. Are you trying to melt his heart or something?! But fine, fine, he's putting a hand on the boy's head in return, that's something, right?

Hey, Goku. Have you often felt lonely?

[The question makes the kid to flinch a bit, hugging Natsuno more tightly. For a long moment that's all there is until the kid nods with his head slowly.]

[ ... Geez. He can practically feel it just from that slight tightening of the hug, like a squeeze.. And yes, he can't help but feel sorry for the kid despite his apathic attitude. Sure, he's been alone a lot too, but that was a conscious choice. There's no way an energetic friendly kid like Goku would want to be alone, no way.

But still-- he can't believe he's about to say this, really. ]

You know, if you ever feel lonely again.. Just come to me, okay? We can talk or whatever, I guess. [ what is being social.. ] And if you're feeling alone at night even though you sleep in the same room as that other guy, just tell me and I guess I'll go and find a spot to sleep there too, since dragging the bed around is too much of a bother.

[Goku remains quiet the whole time and a bit after Natsuno's done speaking before he slowly looks up, peeking at the other's face curiously. It's as if he has never been told those things... Because he has never been told them actually.]

... Really? I can do that?

[ It's already difficult enough to get this out, okay, don't make it more difficult by asking something like that for confirmation.. ]

... Yes, you can. Just not too often. [ translation: do it as much as you want if it makes you feel better 8| ]

[The kid keeps staring for a while, as if trying to understand it. He even looks around for a second as if searching for something before looking at Natsuno again... And then he smiles one of the brightest smiles he has ever smiled.]

[And you get another tight hug, of course. One that says "please don't ever leave me".]

Now I won't have to feel lonely anymore! Because I have niisan and he doesn't want me to feel lonely. This is great!

[ Yes, see -- that kind of smile and hug is exactly why he can't leave. Just like he told Sabriel.. at first he still thought of somehow sneaking out, of leaving, since this wasn't right, there was no way it could be, but.. some part of him can't abandon a kid like this. He doesn't deserve to be lonely, not for anything. ]

Yeah, you won't have to feel lonely anymore.

[ BUUUT this is getting too sappy for him, he's used his maximum sappy quotum for the day. ]

... What do you want for breakfast?

[That's an effective distraction for the boy.]

Uhm, I want congee and crullers and miso soup and natto and tamagoyaki and meatbuns!

[Though meat rarely goes in breakfast, but hey, he can try to get some!]

[ aw yeah, Natsuno is the smoothest. Don't mind him here, he'll just.. try looking in the fridge, maybe? He's still not too familiar with the kitchen. ]

Let's see, I think some of it should be in here.. Isn't that a little too much for you, though? [ not that he really cares with his forever apathy habits. ]

No, that's normal for breakfast.

[Because breakfasts have less food than the rest of the meals.]

If you eat this much, you'll end up starving the village.. [ a sigh - he doesn't mean it literally though, but he doesn't realise either Goku might just take it literally either way.. ]

Does that other guy usually eat that much too? [ he means Hakkai. ]

EeeH?! Really?! But there's always tons of food in the village! And everyday there's new food at the stores. The food can't run out just like that if I eat this, right? I've always eaten this way and no one ever said we were having problems with food!

[Now he's worried, terribly worried. Good job, Natsuno. Goku shakes his head.]

Hakkai eats very little [For Goku standards.], like most of the people here.

[ ... Goku, why.. Don't take everything he says so literally, is he supposed to watch his words that badly around you now? And yes, he gets it with the last part, it's just Goku who eats way too much compared to everyone else.. ]

No, it's fine. I didn't mean it that way, so don't worry too much about it. The village would be fine even if you eat as much as an elephant would.

I don't know how much does an elephant eat though... What if I eat more than one?!

Yeah, it would really be okay. Nobody told you to cut it out this far, right? [ He's still newer in this place, but.. from what he's heard, the supplies seem to be fairly big. And otherwise someone must have said something in the time this kid has been here for sure, so.. ]

And there's no way you'd get close to what an elephant eats.
