I guess so. I like making my own, personally, but that's just me. What's your favorite thing then?

[Man, he hasn't told off a girl yet. Just guys. And everyone here's just too nice to let it get to them!]

... Th'meat buns aren't too bad, but I like these creamy donuts best. They have something really sweet in them so when you bite into them, it spills out. It's tasty. [Bbbbaaack to being quiet yes. Why are people so nice here, seriously, just walking up and talking to others.]

[What gave it away, Kairi.] So what if I'm not? I don't need - or want - to be.

Even in a village of hundreds of people? Sounds like a lonely existence.

[dogboy]

[He doesn't know loneliness, but that's a depressing story for another time!] I'm fine by myself. I've always been like that, kind of. I had my brothers with me back home, but I'm glad they're not here. I don't want them to get hurt.

[meteorical]

Most of us don't want our friends or family getting hurt, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea to close off everyone.

[dogboy]

No one else is trustworthy.

[meteorical]

No one? [That sounds like a pretty harsh statement.] You don't think that's a little bit of a stretch?

[dogboy]

[He shakes his head, staring at the ground. Besides himself, there's really one person he could count as "trustworthy" in his eyes, though admittedly there's at least one or two others slowly growing in that rank.] Out of the hundreds here? Definitely not. If there is, I can count them on one hand.

[... Kind of. He can't really count outside of his hands.]

Having half a handful is better than having nobody...especially in a place like this. That's all I'm saying. It's sort of my job to make sure people are protected.

Yours and everyone else's, I bet. Arca's going to do the same thing, when an ally and I get it off the ground here.

...what or who is Arca?

[dogboy]

Arca's an organization that was important back in my world, helping out people who were called monsters by others. Really, these "monsters" were Avatars - reborn gods - and they'd been cursed to be born that way. So Arca was made by my Lady Mathias to bring salvation to them. A Utopia for just them, and those who had enough kindness in their hearts to help out. It was getting really powerful when I left.

[Those are words parroted from her mouth, too. He learns like that. He'll eat some of his baked good first, and then continue.]

Since it's not like that here, an ally and I thought that maybe we could set it up here for those who didn't want to go home for whatever reason. [He certainly doesn't want to go home, and there's gotta be more than just him. You don't abduct so many without some actually wanting to stay.]

[meteorical]

A Utopia...[That's actually not a bad idea. In a sense, sure, Kairi's not sure what she thinks of such an organization, but it doesn't sound too bad.] Why did people call the Avatars monsters?

That's pretty noble of you. [A tilt of the head.] An ally? Not a friend?

[dogboy]

Because we were born different. We're strong than normal humans, and they're scared of us because of it. There was a law put down to capture the Avatars too, and take them to this center where they'd teach us how to be normal, when really it's just using us for war and all. [Look at that "we" here. You're sitting with a monster!]

... I guess I could call her a friend. She's just as trustworthy as my brothers, Cer and Ber, so. It's just easier to call her an ally.

[meteorical]

[She. Should be reacting to that "we", shouldn't she? It's hard for her to really be disturbed by it though, considering her older brother, Luke, is considered a monster, too.] That's kind of awful. [Not kind of, it is awful.] Arca's a good idea after all.

I guess I just have to wonder what you think the difference between a friend and an ally is.

[dogboy]

[Maybe this kind girl'd like to join, considering she didn't even ask about the "we" part.] I'm sure there'd be people who'd think otherwise, but they're just stupid.

Allies are others who you can trust with some things, and friends are those who you'd trust with your life. So that's my brothers for sure.

[meteorical]

Well don't worry about them. Focus on the people that are willing to support you and walk away from those who won't. [Kairi firmly believes in justice, that's all. Besides, he doesn't seem dangerous anyway.]

I think I can understand that. I've only got two friends who I'd trust with my life...but my other friends aren't any less trustworthy. Maybe someday your allies can become your friends.

[dogboy]

I'll remember that. [... Okay, you've earned yourself a cookie, Kairi. Be happy.]

I guess they could. Maybe. I haven't really thought about it.

[She's completely happy with that, thank you. She offers another smile though because she's pleased she seems to be getting her message across.]

Both luckily and unluckily, you've got a lot of time here to think about it.

... I don't want to go home, but my brothers are there. [Troubled. On one hand, he's glad they're not here because this place be crazy. On the other hand... home's a bad place.] So I wonder how long we'll be apart.
