As I said. You haven't been around the house, and you aren't acting like your usual self.

I've been around my house. Though I'm certain the confusion is understandable, what with the experiment scrambling memories as it seems to have done.

[Have a skeptical eyebrow at that]

And you're saying it's my memories that have been scrambled?

[ayu_nee]

[You are somewhat intimidating, tall stranger. But Ayumu doesn't let herself falter, offering only a small shrug.]

It is always a possibility, and I can't imagine how we would have known each other.

You are Yamazaki Ayumu, a watcher for the Shinsengumi of Kyoto. Which means you work under me.

Kyoto. In Japan? I've never been there, I'm afraid.

[He does have the name right (though the order is backwards) but that's not terribly impressive.]

I know some people seem to remember impossible things about me, but... I'm not a "watcher". And I'm pretty sure I haven't worked for you, unless you're secretly a hunter.

[He sighs, runs a hand through his hair in frustration]

You remember one thing. I remember another. There isn't any way to prove who's right, is there.

Not until the experiment is over, I'd imagine.

[She sounds pretty calm about that, too. After all, once it's over people will remember her properly and all this awkwardness will end.

But then she hesitates for a second, assuming a smile somewhere between curious and apologetic.]

So who are you, anyway?

[onifukuchou]

[He sighs a little - both frustrated and resigned to the current situation.]

Hijikata Toshizou, vice-commander of the Shinsengumi. [...oh, right, she didn't remember what that was] I'm a samurai.

[ayu_nee]

A samurai. And Homura seems to think I'm a ninja.

[Dubious Ayumu is dubious, because all this ninja and samurai business is starting to sound kind of like a movie. Not that... well, there aren't other, weirder things in Luceti, but they usually don't involve her.]

Right, well. I'm sure the end of this experiment will be very enlightening for everyone involved.

He's right. That's what our watchers are - shinobi, not samurai.

[ayu_nee]

He might be. Or I could still be me next week.

[onifukuchou]

[He snorts a little]

I'm fairly certain that'll hold true in either case.

[Because it's pretty clear it's the same person, even if she remembers something different]

Oh? Really?

[And now there's a bit of irritation visible in the quirk of one upraised brow.]

And if I were suddenly a ninja, living in a different place with different people, how would I still be myself? There's more to that than simply a name.

[There's a faint smile at that, almost more of a smirk]

Personality's still the same.

[ayu_nee]

Hm. And what do you mean by that?

[That little smirk makes her wonder if he's mocking her, somehow.]

[onifukuchou]

[No, he values his life more than that]

Exactly what I said. Your past may be different [Or you think it may be different, anyway] but you don't seem all that different in personality.

[ayu_nee]

I... suppose.

[She still looks somewhat dubious about it, but nods politely enough.]
