[She tilts her head back up, kissing the underside of his jaw. Nestling against him once more.]

I should have thought before doing that.

[He rubs his cheek against hers, his hand stroking her back comfortingly.]

It's all right. You didn't know better. That's probably a very common gesture in your time, isn't it?

[Between people that aren't actually dating, he means. It's not like the concept was wholly unbeknownst to him, it just...seems like a kind of intimacy people should take a little while to get to.]

Not terribly common. Just between those with romantic feelings for one another.

[Which they do, she can tell. As can he. But if he is not comfortable with it, she will refrain. Far too kind, far too gentle, and far too sweet. Not at all like her usual type.]

Well, in my time something like that is, um...kind of racy, if you're not in a committed relationship. And I was never inclined to do it myself.

[Meaning yes, he was in a committed relationship at one point.]

[She pulls back to look up, blinking.]

You've been with someone before? Not that I am surprised- I am disappointed. [She huffs a sigh.]

I thought I would be the one to introduce you to a bevy of wonderful, racy things.

I was for a little while, yes. [He gives a light snort, but tilts his head to kiss her cheek.] I'm sorry.

[And heck, who knows how much of this will last past the week? Adele's feelings for him will, surely--those had to have been there to begin with--but he knows she won't be so forward when she gets back in her right mind. It's a bit of a disappointing thought, though an oddly relieving one, too.]

[Two women, similar but different. Terribly different lives, loves, and thoughts- Levarre cares for Willock. Finds him sweet, charming. LeBlanc? Respects him as a colleague. A dear friend. For a moment Adele feels a little guilty and terribly selfish, enough for it to be felt through her bond with Rett's mind.]

...We are different. You know this. I am not entirely her. She is not entirely me. I don't know what she feels for you Rett.

I imagine there has to be something. The Malnosso are drawing on existing traits for this, so...

[He really hopes that's true. It doesn't have to come to anything, but if she'd at least return his feelings to some extent, he'd feel far less awkward than he had before. More vindicated.]
