"I'm just glad he forgave me. Last-week's-me said some pretty awful things."

"Why, what did you do?"

"Well, for...one thing? There's the part where I thought I was a pirate all week."

To that, he had to actually blink in surprise. "... you mean that wasn't just an act?"

[herotypical]

"...I'm honestly not certain whether it would have been better or worse for it to have been just an act. Nah. I was Shifted."

[markofthewise]

"... did you take any of my stuff?" Sokka started digging through his bag again. He always knew how much was in there.

[herotypical]

"...I ate some jerky. It was pretty gro--" Gross. "Great. Excellent. Had to leave a whole bunch left for you."

Everything else will be there. Once the Shift wore off, she was only too happy to get things in order.

"Really? I didn't think you'd like it. But don't worry, I have plenty of the stuff. So help yourself." Before she could object, he already had some of it out held out to her.

Oh. Heck.

Buffy plucked the piece from his hand. "You're too kind, Sokka. Really."

"I made it myself. But you could probably tell when you had it before. They don't make it that spicy in the store." He was so proud of himself.

[herotypical]

"Trust me. I noticed. So did my room-mates when they realized I chugged all the milk from the fridge."

She STARED at the piece now in her hands. Did she dare...?

"What, are you saying the slayer can't handle a little heat?"

[herotypical]

"Hey! I wasn't the Slayer when I ate it. I was a...much sadder excuse for a human being."

FINE THEN. SHE BIT OFF A GENEROUS PORTION.

Challenge accepted. Sokka bit off a piece and grinned. Waiting.

Poor Buffy. He could tell how much she wasn't enjoying it. Sokka was not heartless, at least. He held up a bottle of water. "Thirsty?"

"Thanks," she gasped as she grasped the bottle and chugged.

Water, of course, rarely helps with spicy things. THANKS INDEED.

Sokka rarely had a problem with spicy things. Why bring anything besides water?

"I'll try and avoid letting your current vampire arch enemy know about your crippling weakness to spicy foods."

[herotypical]

"She's not an arch enemy. She's a..." Cough. Splutter. Cough some more. "More like a semi-arch enemy. She's not so scary by herself."

Buffy thumped her chest. Drank some more water. Held the bottle back out to Sokka. "I'm gonna have indigestion for a week."

Definitely a weakness. Shaking his head, Sokka stood up.

"I think we need to get you something stronger than water."

"I'm fine, I'm fine. Honest."

She leaned into the corner of the sofa. Waving at him. "Just impressed by the stalwartness of your tastebuds."

He crossed his arms, looking skeptical at her fine-ness and honesty. "Well, my tastebuds have been trained to handle anything that might come their way."
