[He might have, a week ago. Been upset of having to talk about anything personal.

But things were different now.]

[...the awkwardness stretches, thickens.

She takes another sip of her coffee. She should... head back to her - the! room. But she doesn't want to move just yet. There's a certain comfort, a certain pain about being near him.

He's not... who he was to her, but she's finding that some of the feelings - feelings of safety, in particular, of acceptance - are remaining. And it's soothing and addictive and she doesn't want to leave it, even if it's a lie.]

[Lies. All of it. Fake. The fact is slamming against his memory. But that isn't what she needs right now. He doesn't, either.

So he'll just wait, leaning against the wall there. If she needs something, she'll ask. He hopes. At least.]

Then I'll just... head back in.

Right.

[Yeah. That's probably best for now. So he can...sort his thoughts. Or some shit. Hell if he knows what he's going to do now.]

I'll just be--[He gestures around.] Up. If you need something.

[And he'll step back towards the living room, then. His mind is still swimming, and he can't make out his own feelings in the mess of the sea inside him.]

[She carefully makes her way around him - but it's habit more than actual awareness of her bare skin. Her mind is occupied, her heart is full.

She pauses at the door frame without looking back.]

Tony?

[alloys]

[He stops, only half-turned towards her.]

[And she moves to enter the room before he can respond.]
