After months of planning and roping in poor, innocent people to help out with some of the work it's finally done. An actual festival, all for the starfish.

The morning of the 14th mostly consists of people arriving, the stalls being brought in and decorations being put up. It's all about the preparation! Most of the decorating consists of banners and streamers you might find at a school festival, all hung around doors and windows and between the buildings in the plaza. And star shaped pieces of card being stuck up here and there in places too. If the decorations don't tell you what's going on then the banners saying 'STARFISH FESTIVAL' certainly will.

Come midday the festival is in full swing. There's plenty of food at many of the stalls (either prepared by Fuuko and the other girls or brought in by other villagers) ranging from cake, ice cream and different kinds of sweet things, to starfish tea, sandwiches, all sorts of festival fare. There are a few games set up too where it's possible to win starfish related prizes like pins, badges and even plush toys and some stalls are even giving out wind chimes. Finally there's also a little entertainment provided with music being played in the background throughout most of the festival. (You should totally go listen to Kotomi giving her very own violin recital.)

By night time when most of the food is gone there will be a fireworks display to bring an end to the festival. Hopefully the Starfish Festival would be a day to remember!

(You didn't need to receive an invite in order to come, that was just the girl's attempt at getting word of the festival out there. The festival is open to anyone and everyone to come along and have a good time.)

Broccoli? What does... [No, never mind.] I don't see how knowing about broccoli could mean a person is talented when it comes to playing music, but maybe now you'll see that isn't something to judge talent off of in future.

Well she just seemed smart in general! Like one of those crazy geniuses! You'll see as soon as you actually talk to her Yukio.

Fine, we'll see then. Not all crazy geniuses are experts in all fields though. [...] Are you sure she isn't some sort of broccoli farmer and you're just getting confused?

...Does she look like a farmer to you? Besides, she sounds like a textbook.

[sharpness]

Well I didn't exactly get much chance to hear her voice during that performance. Something about three wonderful hiragana and then... [Screeching. Ear shattering screeching.] I think the less remembered about that fiasco the better.

[rashness]

[...You know given how awful that was, with a shiver he can nod and agree. Because that was really awful. Which means... they should go to a game! He wonders if there goldfish scooping here. He doubts it, but-]

You know I hope Shiemi made it. She'd like this.

[sharpness]

I'm sure if you invited her then she'll be around somewhere. [Or she ran for cover when the violin playing started. But games? Games! Goldfish scooping seems like a pass. Ditto for anything like a rifle range either with water guns, but maybe that would be expecting too much.

How about ring toss then? With star shaped rings. Yukio is already looking at the store curiously as they pass by.]

[...Well, that works]

Yukiiiio! Let's play that! I bet I can kick you ass!

[sharpness]

What are we betting?

[Or were just saying that? Whatever, he's already taking one of the rings and weighing it up in his hand.]

[rashness]

[Rin takes a ring too! And he rolls it in his hand, thinking! But...!]

Popsicles!

[sharpness]

Popsicles? [...] Fair enough, popsicles it is.

[Should he bother asking for something else other than a popsicle if he wins? He'd like to think that that's a pretty small if... But Rin seems to thrive on dumb luck and it would be typical for him to land all his rings no problem.

For now Yukio takes his rings and steps to one side.]

You first, show me what you can do.

[rashness]

Alllright! You're gunna be giving me some sugar!

[Rin that sounds wrong.

Anyway. He throws his first ring and... and...! Connects! Score. He cheers as he connects the ring to loop around the first bottle]

[sharpness]

[Cough.] You'll only be getting a popsicle if you win though.

[Just openly clarifying things for anyone who might have caught that.

Welp that was just the first ring. Even if it would have be pure gold if Rin had missed every single one Yukio had expected him to land at least his first throw.

For that wonderful display of hooking a ring around the neck of a bottle he gets a few slow claps from Yukio. Well done that demon.]

[rashness]

[Rin is proud of that firs ring, okay. which is why he concentrates hard on the second one. Where to throw it. Well then. He'll just throw it and...!

It over-shoots and flies over,. DAMMIT.]

[sharpness]

[EXCELLENT. Would it be mean for him to clap a little harder at that display? ... Naaah.]

And to think that came from the hand that smashed my glasses as though it were a miracle.

[Ha ha haaah. Not that this is funny at all. Because it's not. You suck at ring toss man.]

[rashness]

Shut uuuup! You still need to do better than me to win! [Flustered, he now goes to toss his third ring... which connects with the second bottle but doesn't loop]

[sharpness]

That's true, I only have to beat one though, don't I?

[With his hand out he walks around the stall and sets the ring down properly over the second bottle.]

Or do you want to count that as a half?

[rashness]

Yes, so you need to get at least two. [He won't do it, right? Yeah, he totally won't. There's a little pouting going on here, and an arm cross]

[sharpness]

Fair enough.

[Clearing the bottles of Rin's attempts, Yukio stands in position and tests the ring before throwing it, throwing it up and down and catching it in his hand to get a proper feel for the weight of it. Even in ring toss it pays to keep things well thought out and calculated.

So here's his first throw--! ... The ring slips over the neck of the bottle and circles around a couple of times before hitting the bottom.]

One.

[rashness]

Y-yeah well you need two! [And you won't get it nerd because you're a nerd. SO THERE]

[sharpness]

[That's fine, because he's following up that throw with a second soon after which lands-- But gets caught on the neck of the bottle. That's annoying, considering he threw the ring in practically the same way he did the first. Stupid luck being a factor.]

Looks like it all comes down to the last throw.

[rashness]

There's no way you're going to make that last one though. [Totally. e's going to win!!]

We'll see. [Here he goes, the last throw to end all throws. He's going to take his sweet time getting this throw juuust right.
