Event Log - Total Recall

Who: You and you and mostly me and you
What: Everyone's been Shifted in their own way
When: A hero doesn't care if this event last a whole ten days
Where: Everyone can blaze a hero's trail
Summary: It's that special time when the Malnosso collect all their recent experiments and apply them all at once to measure effectiveness. Although invaluable as research, it tends to leave the subjects looking just a bit mad.
Rating: Rated H for HEROIC

So there is a mod post and it pretty much tells you EVERYTHING you need to know. This is a mass log for people to comment around on if they don't want to make posts. Or even if they want to make posts anyway. There will be at least one more of these later in the event! ENJOY!

I can't answer that. [He gently wipes her tears away.] I can say this--don't worry about what you can't change, because you'll only hurt yourself more.

[If he couldn't have here here for whatever reason, he could deal with it. He's loved so many women in his lifetime, and so few of them ever returned the feelings. Even less were even safe to pursue because of the nature of his work--they could be used as pawns, or worse.

He didn't want to think about the worst.

The best course has always been to savor the few moments of bliss that he could steal, however and where ever they come. His dealings with Goldie had been bliss, and he didn't want this strange little theft to ever end.]

You really do spend too much time around Jedi.

[She mutters, blinking back the next surge of tears. Something she heard day in, day out, for years. With Ben and others next to her repeating it diligently. She'd only been gone a year, she shouldn't be this homesick. And if she was, she shouldn't miss the blasted temple. It wasn't home, had never been home.]

...I still. Want to see him. To apologize. I shouldn't have asked him to come with me.

[Insert foot into mouth--he knew that he shouldn't have mentioned anything about Ben to her. At all.]

...He probably heard it a million times and more when we were awake before, Goldie. You were just doing what you felt was right, there's nothing to apologize for!

[He chuckles a little as he pulls her close, wishing he knew of some way to make the situation better.]

...heh. Maybe I do spend too much around Jedi. Luke's order is different from the one you know, though. I couldn't say how, but they're different.

Tell me where to find him? Please?

[She pulls back enough to offer him her saddest, sweetest pleading eyes. All she wants is to make certain he's okay. That he didn't lose a limb or an eye or something foolish like that without her there to mend him afterward. She's allowed to worry- it hasn't been that long since she left to her mind. Certainly he was only a little further along that she was.]

...who is Luke? I do not know of any Jedi by that name.

I don't know. He wanders, and I don't pay attention to him.

[The pitiful gaze was only succeeding in breaking his heart, and that final question just drove the differences home. She was Goldie, but not his...

...and never his, it seemed.]

If you want to find Ben so much, go find him. I can't help you though.

I'm sorry.

[It's an immediate reaction to what she provoked. Heartbreak hurts, blast it, and. She doesn't know him well enough to want to wait it out. Normally, at least. She reaches out all the same, brushes her mind against his. Tentative, contrite. She didn't mean to, really.]

I'll. Go. I'm sorry.

Don't apologize for what you can't help.

[It was another rule of his, one that prevented worry and anxiety while he was on a job. Any decision could mean the difference between a won or lost battle, a life lived or lost.

...this was why it was dangerous to love in his line of work.]

[She's not sure what prompts this but she says it all the same. Because when she's older they love each other and that's precious. For however long they have it, it's worth nurturing, worth protecting.

[With the way this Shift is, he almost doens't believe her--but reminds himself that she wasn't a liar by nature either. This was important to her, even if all it would earn her was more heartache than she could stand.

It wasn't his battle. He was tired.

He nods solemnly in understanding.]

[Adele can't help but want to give him something before she leaves. Something more than a promise, something to make him less worn. Less tired. Something to ease the ache she kicked up without knowing or thinking.

To her mind she hasn't done this before at all, and certainly not with a woman, but. She reaches up, brushes her fingers along Red's cheek. Offers a gentle, sad smile.]

I always keep my promises Pateesa.

[Even if it's her first proper kiss, it's given with a comfortable familiarity she can't quite understand. A little clumsy, close lipped and chaste, the barest brush of her lips to Red's but. Sincere all the same.]

[The kiss is over before he realizes that its begun, but the lingering warmth remains in his heart even as she draws away. He wants to catch her, wants to hold her, but resists..

She needed to act on her own first.]

[She won't. Just long enough to see, to apologize- then she'll come back here. Because there was something more important than her displacement, than Red being a woman to consider. Questions that needed answers. She may not be able to help him, but she wants to try all the same.

Her hand slides through Red's hair once. Gives it a soft, fond ruffle, and then she's gone. Heading out the door to find Ben. And possibly Luke as well. Because if there are Jedi here, she should check in on them, if only from a distance.]
