Summary: It's that special time when the Malnosso collect all their recent experiments and apply them all at once to measure effectiveness. Although invaluable as research, it tends to leave the subjects looking just a bit mad.

So there is a mod post and it pretty much tells you EVERYTHING you need to know. This is a second log so people can change up their effects and try something new, jump into the event late, or just avoid the impending CAPTCHA on the first log.

[Oh thank goodness. A moment as he remembers.]

Uh, right. I was working on a circle to transmute base materials into bullets. You know, to save time making them. But since it involves gunpowder, I kind of want to make sure I have it right.

[Bullets? Sounds easy enough, but she nods anyway, offering a hand out. Better safe than sorry when working with explosive materials.]

[Sokka leads her over to a table where he's working at. There's a transmutation circle drawn on a piece of paper for it. To his credit, besides being messy from lots of erasing, it should... actually be just right.]

I'm not sure I'm using the right symbols. What do you think?

[She studies the paper for a long moment, one hand on her chin. Huh... did she manage to find some kind of studying prodigy as a student? He's been really good, and the improvement since last time is obvious.]

It looks... great, actually. There's nothing wrong with it. [She taps the paper lightly, at one of the more smudgy parts.] You should redraw it, though, so those marks don't alter the transmutation. Besides that, good job.

[Surprise! She actually looks really proud of him.]

[Wow, he never gets this pride from regular Ed! You know, he does actually like this version better.]

Thanks. It took awhile to get this one done. But at least it's not something I'll need to keep drawing.

[Though it may require variations for different kinds of bullets. Either way, he might be good at studying, but he's a long way from being able to make these things on the fly.]

[Poor Ed, everyone likes the girl better.]

That's the one big benefit of a transmutation circle that isn't drawn on the source material- you only have to do it once. I can see the draw of all the alchemists who use tattoos.

Now if only I could find a decent tattoo artist around here, huh?

[Since he actually wants one! But he wasn't thinking of alchemy.]

Hey, maybe I should make that my new career. I am pretty good at drawing, and I've never been that worried about hurting people for a good cause.

[There's a teasing tone in her voice, though it's not entirely incorrect.]

Words cannot express how safe I'd feel about that.

Oh ye of little faith. It just so happens that I'm good with my hands. [She waggles her fingers, then shrugs.] Anyway, it's not like it has to be permanent. You could be like the colonel and just try a pair of gloves.

Actually, I wasn't thinking alchemy tattoo. [But that's not relevant.] Anyway, I think I've got awhile before I'm using alchemy in a fight.

It's not just for fights, actually. Some alchemists do it just because they have a hard time drawing the circles in a hurry.

[She glances down at his own circle. Kinda like that?]

Sounds pretty lazy if you ask me... I like it. [An inventor and scientist is all about finding new and innovative ways to not have to do work.]

[Pffft. She grins.] You would say that. So, are you going to test it out?

Well, I'd have to take it back to the smithy. I don't exactly have the components here.

Oh, too bad. I kind of wanted to see the results. You'll at least give a report, right?

Nope. You're not supposed to write your research out in detail unless it's in code, anyway.

Good. I've already done that for my meat alchemy. Though it's probably not a difficult code to break.
